SAC after Week 1

Recommended Posts

1.       Dwenger – Great defense. Great skill guys. Big offensive line. Great coaching. Not much more to say. They’ve been the top dog in the SAC in recent seasons. No reason to believe they wont be again.

2.       Homestead – The defending two time SAC champ looked solid in their season opener. A statement saying that “were here at the top to stay.”

3.       Snider – Knocking on the door. The potential is there this year to reclaim their spot as the kingpin of the SAC.

4.       Luers – Looked pretty good against what was supposed to be a pretty good 6A team. They just looked darn good in general. Not only to they have their sights on winning 2A state, but they think they can actually win the SAC.

5.       North Side – The Legends are loaded with playmakers. This team could win seven games in the SAC this year, although I’m sure their goal is eight.

6.       Carroll – The Chargers have a lot to prove this week against Snider. Losing to a 2A team wasn’t a good look for them on Friday.

7.       Concordia – The Cadets ended their season last year against one of the best teams in the state in a game that went to the wire. They open up with a pasting of the Archers. Being ranked seventh may be a little insulting to them.

8.       Northrop – They looked solid in the beginning against Homestead. But football is four quarters, not two.

9.       Wayne – Is it fair to the Generals to dub them as the ninth best team in the conference after losing to a team like Dwenger? Who cares, it’s only Week 1.

10.   South Side – Eight weeks left to climb in the rankings.

It's really a matter of opinion. It doesn't seem to make much sense on the surface. I felt that Dwenger let the SAC crown slip away both seasons. No offense to the Spartans. Kudos to Homestead for figuring out a way to get it done.

1) Homestead- until someone beats them they are the top flight in the sac..after a slow start against Northrop their seniors showed why they have the bell..

2) Snider- garnered the nickname of the "U" although they currently look like the university of o/d lineman..offense n st look dangerous..can their "D" make them a complete triple threat?

3) Luers- who let the Dawgs out?? Coach Lindsay (coach k) has those knights rocking n rolling with swagger police patrolling..if they can win their next few games they might need an escort to the games..😎

4) North side- The legends have athletes all over the field..they have them on the bench..they have them playing both ways n special teams..if they can bounce back from that emotional loss..it will pay dividends for their program moving forward.

5) Dwenger- *Bulletin board alert*...rebuild or reload? Big cyo fan n those kids just win..no matter who is on the field..they showed they still have enough to power past wayne..do they have the firepower to make bring the bell back?.. the top four can score 35+..if bd limits that (per usual) this could be their year..

6) Northrop- put up a tough challenge in the first half..Doerfler has them moving in the right direction..once they put together a full game..the bruins will be a tough out..

7) Carroll- They will score..they will play for their coach..they will give their amazing student body a show..yet will they win? They have a few holes to fill n unfortunately may be a year or two away again..

8 Wayne- the generals are in good hands with haydock..have they fully bought in to what he coaches? Need more heart..less talk

9) Concordia-New coach..new nuances..they will be a threat in 3a this year..if they stay healthy and win their fair share of games..kudos to them

10) South Side- not sure what else can be said for this program..new coach as well..yet it can't start n stop with him..too much talent walking the hallways n not the sidelines..

Dwenger's O-line is very small.

Center is 5'7"

Overall looked big on Youtube.

Justasportsfan............liked your poll, good content. Speaking of Youtube, watch the Dwenger game. No way they finish 5th.

Blknights7.............those Knights looked good on Friday night. They'll finish in the Top 4 somewhere, I'm just not sure where. Snider will finish in the Top 3.......count on it.

I like snider this year they just need to show me more on the defensive side of the ball which I'm sure they will as the season progresses.

Tbh i figured dwenger could be 1 or 2..I know those cyo kids don't need bulletin boards yet figured they'd enjoy seeing their southern counterparts ranked a little higher than them. I wanted to have slight variation from ur poll to keep things interesting..being able to to remain spotless this year will be a tall task..

I was a bit skeptical coming into the season since they have a new head coach, but they seem to have picked up right where they left off last year. Brashawn Bassett impressed me as well, helped by bringing back 4 of their top receivers from last year. Teams that aren't particularly good in the secondary could be in for some long Friday nights against the Legends.

Agree. North Side will give anyone they play fits. Last year they started the season with a big win, then faltered in the end. This team needs to hold their head high. They almost beat a Snider team that appears back to Panther form.

Valid. They have their normal defensive line and linebacking crew that can rumble with most teams in the state. It's their secondary that's going to determine whether or not they play Cathedral for the state title...........or at least rumble with teams like North Side, Dwenger, Valpo, and Zionsville for that opportunity.

After week 1 it seems sectional 11 could be more competitive than I initially thought.

North Side having a new coach was a question mark for North Side, as it always is when someone new takes over. Some of the Dwenger contingent was downplaying the Saints' capabilities this year. Both made a statement in Week 1..........as did Snider. There may not be a tougher 5A sectional in the state. Sectional 13 & 14 may argue that.
