WHME was the ONLY station allowed to air over the air and has been for the last 10 years. 5.5 million fans across the state watched via a subscription on Fox/Bally since 2012. WHME never paid for rights, never thanked the IHSAA and did not explain the situation to fans. Their permission to air was a legacy from the days that Comcast had the rights and the SB and region area were feed out of of Chicago and Detroit... which did not carry the tournaments. Chuck Freeby has blocked the IHSAA personnel on social media as a 'Thank You' for the 10 years of a free gift.

WHME knew the rights were available. They didn't offer 1 cent for the rights. They thought they were entitled. So, talk to Chuck.

Same contract covers basketball. Same providers. 59 never has had rights. Before WHMB, that contract was held by The Hulman Family who syndicate to Chanel 23, which they owned.

IHSAAtv is IHSAA and no, the IHSAA nor IHSAAtv have anything to do with what games are aired on TV and which channels. Bally owns 100% of TV rights. the IHSAA owns internet streaming rights.

Channel 4 had rights before Bally. Comcast before that, WHMB before that. Fox59 never had the rights.

No PBS stations aired finals. WHME was a legacy issue that was curtailed by bally this year. It has aired on Bally/Fox for the last 9 years.

Most fans find using an Amazon Fire Stick, Roku Device or Apple TV connected to their big TV and using a free app on those device's app stores the the best way to go. The on-line presentation is the exact tv telecast syndicated to IHSAAtv.org. Where does the money go? The IHSAA thru ticket sales and on-line profits are used for operations and supports the give back to schools. In fact, even including the Covid era, the IHSAA hands back over 2 million dollars to schools, which exceeds the amount they keep for operations...such has holding state championships. Are there any free webcast of the State? No. the IHSAA owns all tournament action. No live, free webcasts either via business entities or individuals are allowed.

An update concerning watching games on line: By rule all sectional games and currently, all regional games, must be free to watch during the live broadcast by approved TV stations and webcasters. Optionally, affiliates of the IHSAA Champions Network may place their replays behind a paywall and may sell downloads of games as an MP4. Non-affiliated stations may not charge for replays or offer downloads. Game day will air this Friday's sectional championships, during the regional and will be provided as part of an all-access pay per view package during the semistate. Semi-State games will be pay-per-view. The IHSAA released the intent to charge at this tournament level in September. There will be an option to purchase a single game, or at for an additional fee, all 12 games can be watched live and during the replay. This is the first year that all 12 games will be available on line to those who can't or won't attend due to COVID. The decision to charge to watch is due the costs of hiring talent and the 12 companies to create productions for airing on IHSAAtv.org. State finals rights are owned by Fox Sports Indiana. All games will air on FSI. For viewers outside of the Fox Sports Indiana coverage area, a live stream will be available at IHSAAtv.org. For those within the FSI coverage area, the stream will be available only on delayed basis following the conclusion of the telecast.

IHSAAtv, the IHSAA Champions Network and the IHSAA are one and the same. IHSAAtv and its new website was created to give everyone equal presence for webcasting... from the smallest guy to the largest TV station. However, not all webcasters have decided to use this presence or were not invited. Hope that answers your question and concern.

Watching IHSAA Football on-line: The almost complete guide. During the regular season, the IHSAA does not regulate or control webcasting and broadcasting rights for schools. The game's rights are entirely owned by the home school. Several schools have taken advantage of the IHSAA Champions Network portal, IHSAAtv.org as a location to place school produced video-casts. The network is underwriting the cost of the bandwidth, the back end administration and providing technical support. Many have their own web locations. Additionally, Indiana has over 50 video webcasters operating as commercial entities. Many of these are television stations. Most are small producers who target games specifically for a school, conference or in a geographical area. They are also given bandwidth on IHSAAtv.org, but again, they are not required to do so. Many games will be pay-per-view at the discretion of the webcaster with the permission of the home school. Most will continue to be free-to-watch. Pricing will be near or about the same as a ticket. The net proceeds will support the athletic department. IHSAAtv.org, ISCsportsnetwork.com and Twitter searches are your best portals and tools to find games.
