  1. Again, as an official ... The Jamboree is much more "educational" to us than the current format. Then incorporate the Scrimmage format to the JV players exclusively on a Monday night..... Have the Jamboree on Friday or the previous Saturday night.
  2. Hopefully NOT Papa (well ya know).... Go Blaze Pizza (and introduce it to the FW Area)
  3. As an official. The suggestion that I would make is 2 fold: We have a significant dearth of officials that is happening now, and will not get better in the ensuing years... Move some games to Saturday, and allow Sundays as a "makeup" day if needed...
  4. The perception about the public schools' field; , Is that there was a 'benefactor' that would have turfed Spuller (Northrop/Snider). But in the absence of doing all 4 FWCS public fields... It was turned down, as showing bias to one over the others. Kinda understandable actually. As for Zollner, I truly cannot believe that a private source hasn't stepped up to help out BD and CCHS. We need turf on those fields. Homestead has turf and Carroll's grass field is IMPECCABLE....
  5. Coach, I don't disagree at all..BUT.... That's what we are told to enforce, and honestly it is something that we sometimes get "gigged on" later by schools. Bison has eloquently expounded on my observations, I will go with that...
  6. Sorry it took so long to reply, long week at work and haven't checked in lately. Obviously I am not blind to understanding that kids like to "look good" when they take the field. When I played HS FB, our uni's were basically carbon copies of Penn State, with a logo on the helmet, and cut off mesh shirts. Would I have liked a 'flashier look' of course.... But that is not what I am getting at. That is really not the thrust of my discontent. This moreso has to do with: Exposed knees; Pants which are basically 'bicycle shorts'; Shirts tucked under the shoulder pads; Exposed/Untucked Rib protectors; NO Knee Pads; (the belief that you can wear extended girdles) and REMOVE your knee pads because they are 'included in the girdle'; Eye Black that basically is applied to be a "Jr. Al Jolson"; Wearing of Jewelry; Bandanas extending beyond the helmet; Illegal Eye Shades on the facemask; Illegal facemasks; Play sheets attached to the pants/waist; Shirts that do not extend beyond the shoulder pads; Towel colors; Writing on towels..... the list goes on and on. Everyone of those I have had to deal with in the past year, and I would guess that they will all come up again in the future. Bandanas, seem to be 'cause-celeb' thing that is going on now.
  7. This is also the MO system. both of which I was a part of while in HS. Either you "qualify" within a series of district games, or you don't make the tournament. The difference in KY and MO systems: Is that in MO, you play ALL games in the tournament at a neutral site. In KY, games are played at 'home' until the State Finals. And while in KY, we regularly played 11-12 games in the regular season. Similarly, we played more than 9 in MO when I was there also. But did in fact play within a conference, but scheduled our district opponents on the outside of conference weeks for qualification purposes. 8. I don't have any thoughts or feelings on this situation: But where would Ole Miss go? Is there a conference in the general area that would give them "better" competition in all sports other than FB that would be a better alternative than the CIC? And why would the CIC expand, when expansion has occurred all over "Northern/Central IN" recently? Please provide more info, other than a 'might this happen' scenario.....
  9. I am all for it Bob!!!
  10. The weather was terrible at Carmel (v. Penn) but the fans from Granger showed up in force. I am sure that Carmel would have had much more in attendance, but the delay due to the situation had a tremendous impact on the crowd .... Indiana has that sort of thing going on in many respects....
  11. Nope. In HS football the ball is dead as soon as the defense jumps offsides. You are thinking SUNDAY FB not Friday night.
  12. I just HAVE to back a year ago to the New Pal - Snider game. That thing had everything you could ask for and.more. Oh and BTW.... Great fan support and Coaching Staffs to boot on both sides. I could watch that on Sundays rather than the NFL anytime.
  13. From the officiating side....Big time props to the Crew on the 1A game. And to the Crew on the 5A game. Represent the 'Fort' well guys.
  14. I officiated BOTH BD and Carmel this year in the playoffs Needless to say I feel privileged. I love IN High School FB!!!
  15. Now onto Westfield tomorrow. Another great matchup waiting to happen!!!!
