  1. A bunch of the NIC schools have East-West fields. Marian, St. Joseph, School Field (though it is SLIGHTLY slanted), Jackson Field, Clay Field, New Prairie... I definitely get my money's worth out of those prescription sunglasses I bought.
  2. On several occasions, I have tried to look up high school football information from the states of Illinois, Michigan... Even the football-crazed state of Texas. It took me a considerable amount of time to find any one source that had a fraction of the info that Harrell has on his, and he does it for multiple sports. In short, John Harrell is the GOAT.
  3. When we are heading into our Week 9 regular season game and 4 teams still have a shot at the division championship... Hard to look back on this season and be anything but excited to see what the future has in store for the conference!
  4. Mishawaka Marian - Bob Otolski Field. A bit about Bob Otolski: He was a member of SB Washington's 1953 State Champion team, and later was the AD and first ever head football coach at Marian. He compiled a 59-10-1 record between '66 and '72, before leaving to join Lee Corso's staff at IU from '73 to '80. He later served as the head football coach for the Illinois State Redbirds from '81-'87.
  5. Good luck to all of the NIC teams playing tonight. It would be great to have all 5 of us still practicing next week!
  6. Without a doubt, one of the hardest parts of our jobs as teachers/coaches is seeing young lives end far too early and then seeing the pain that it causes the community. I know it isn't much, but please know that both of your communities are in our thoughts and prayers.
  7. I speak from personal experience when I say that the Bremen JV/C-team squad is extremely talented.
  8. Absolutely gutted for his brothers on the team. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
  9. I think the best (read: "most disguting") part of this is, as a result of this play, the referee ejected two players. He THOUGHT that he was ejecting the two players that hit him, but he accidentally ejected the wrong kid. #81 - the kid that speared him while he was down - was on the field for the next play where he laid out the quarterback as he was taking a knee on the final play of the game. (http://blog.mysanantonio.com/hssports/2015/09/jay-player-who-hit-referee-stayed-in-the-game-hit-marble-falls-qb-on-final-play/) If the coaches left #81 on the field after that play... Wow. I mean, that scenario is just hard to swallow. Obviously the clips that I saw didn't show the post-play discussion between the officials/coaches, but I have to imagine that the John Jay staff had plenty of time to grab another kid and get #81 off of the field. Leaving him on after an incident like that is just beyond the pale. Would be pretty hard to argue that the coaches would have gotten kids mixed up. Those two safeties are 15 yards off of the ball, and every other player is on the LOS.
  10. This info is off of the RRSN website: 1340 AM: Elkhart Central v. Elkhart Memorial 91.1 FM & 95.3 FM: Penn v. Valpo RRSN.com Elkhart Central v. Elkhart Memorial Penn v. Valpo Marian v. Clay
  11. Well said, Killer51. As a member of the aforementioned Marian staff, I can personally guarantee you that all of us are focused on Clay at the present time. To be talking about New Prairie and championships on August 17th would be overlooking a heck of a lot of tough, well-coached, and motivated opponents between now and October. None of us would ever disrespect an incredibly tough opponent like New Prairie, and we sure wouldn't be disrespecting any of the other 8 teams on our schedule by overlooking them.
  12. What an absolute tragedy For the families and the entire community. Winning the State Championship should be one of those pure, happy moments that the NV players sit around and tell their kids and grandkids about. Absolutely breaks my heart to see so many young lives impacted throughout the entire community. I will keep the entire community in my prayers.
  13. Truly amazing to see the Wright's story shared on a national stage. And it's always a good thing when football in the State of Indiana gets some good press... We're not just a basketball State!
  14. The 2015 schedules are posted on John Harrell's HSFB website. The link is in the box at the very bottom of the page, but above the "Order your Indiana Football Digest" link. Mishawaka Marian Knights 2015 Schedule: 8/21 : @ Clay (nc) 8/28 : @ John Glenn 9/4 : St. Joseph's (nc) 9/11 : @ Riley 9/18 : @ Jimtown 9/25 : Bremen 10/2 : New Prairie 10/9 : Mishawaka (nc) 10/16 : Washington (nc denotes non-conference games) 4 of the first 5 games are on the road.
