  1. They have undergone a massive reduction in student enrollment. They were a solid 4A and have dropped to 3A, and I believe they are still trending down in terms of enrollment, but they will likely never fall below 3A. They are like a lot of schools, they have talent but there are a lot of outside factors impacting their ability to put it all together on the field. Their AD was a college teammate of mine and is a good dude. They definitely are looking for a winner but there has to be a culture change.
  2. I have voted on this proposal and believe it will pass the IFCA, however this is a longer trek than most might realize. The IFCA has to have a certain percentage of schools vote then of the schools who voted they must be 70% in the affirmative. That will probably be done. Then there are football committees who have to discuss the proposal to affirm the IFCA's stance. Then there is the IHSAA commissioner over football (Robert Faulkens) who must affirm the IFCA's and committee's stance. Last we get to the IHSAA commissioner (Paul Neidig) who must affirm all those below him. So there are many steps to this process. It might take a little longer than one might expect.
  3. According to Wikipedia, there are 95 school districts with over 50,000 students. How accurate is this information IDK? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_the_largest_school_districts_in_the_United_States_by_enrollment
  4. In the past, the IHSAA has asked for ADs to volunteer. In the case for basketball, you were put in a completely different class and different area of the state. If you were 1A from the south like I was, they would place you in the North in 3A or 4A. This was about 8 years ago, but that is what I remember. I think one of the harder aspects is knowing which ADs will be around and volunteer to be a part of the process. I know some schools which have gone through multiple ADs in a span of only a few years.
  5. My purpose was informing you on how far in hours and minutes these cities are from Evansville. Poseyville and Tell City will not use the interstate to get to Evansville, so it takes longer. Most students who go to these rural schools live in the main city of the school. I don't care about soccer, but when you challenge the premise of proximity from one city to another I take issue. You might notice I did not challenge your claim of 3 hour round trip to the northside of Indy because I know it to be true. The navigational route to take from one city to another impacts the travel time. That's all I have to say on this topic.
  6. We all say football is like a family, but you only get one father. I hope everything works out for him.
  7. Poseyville to Evansville- 34 minutes Tell City to Evansville- 1 hour 13 minutes Huntingburg to Evansville- 58 minutes Petersburg to Evansville- 47 minutes Ferdinand to Evansville- 54 minutes Brownstown to Louisville- 1 hour 2 minutes Tell City, North Posey, Forest Park and Southridge are comparable in size to you. Just saying.
  8. I guess I am confused by this statement.. Most of the schools you are talking about are 45 min to an hour from Evansville. A quick google check says it is 62 minutes to Louisville and 75ish minutes to Indianapolis. I can get behind the statement that Brownstown doesn't want it, but the proximity argument is wrong.
  9. I understand your position and I am not looking for a gotcha moment here, but Do you think there are any advantages to having artificial surfaces?
  10. This is an interesting article... but does this take into account some of the newer charter and parochial schools in the state? Not to mention in some rural areas, there are parochial schools which feed into public schools. So if we examine district student enrollment, does that include the students in those parochial schools? What about when there is an agreement between private and public schools? Students might be a student at a private school but take CTE classes at a public school or through public funding. To @BDGiant93's point we are stable here in Corydon, but with the growth in the Louisville metro area, we are seeing growth push out towards us. Charlestown is up to 4A, Floyd Central and New Albany are the 12th and 13th largest in 5A, while Jeffersonville is 6A. We might see more student growth in Harrison County for the football schools, us and North Harrison.
  11. Yes we were approved for upgrades for the entire South Harrison School Corporation last fall. Athletic upgrades include turf on the football field this summer (soccer and football will both play there), new track after the turf, and new locker room facilities ready for the 2025 season.
  12. With Corydon and Salem changing over to turf, who all will still be grass in the MSC?
  13. Corydon Central will have turf to start the 2024 season.
  14. It is with great sadness that we have lost another great man. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/4W4ddBb2Ncdy1a2U/?mibextid=WC7FNe It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of former Panther Football coach, Aaron Humphrey. Please keep his family and all of those that he had an impact on in your thoughts and prayers.
