  1. Word. Followed IMHO in order by Plyometric work (both body weight and boxes - PS love me some double under jump rope work), speed training (sprints at max effort over short distances - no more than 40 yards, or with weighted implements with optimal recovery time rule of thumb is 2x the work time, none of this namby pamby "agility" crap), Squats/Deadlift. That is if you are specifically looking at "Power" as your primary focus. Speed is a function of a persons ability to create power, but also apply it efficiently. So I typically do speed training first, as my number one focus, but that is because I've always put an emphasis on speed in all athletics. Increases in speed translate to power improvements in other areas, but if a kid can not apply the power gained from lifting in a running motion the power gains don't meet my ultimate goals of increased athletic application of their power. In cases where my weight room doesn't spatial fit the needs of my group (extremely large groups), I will interchange the two actions so one group will lift on cleans and lower body, and the other will be working speed. The key in it all is recovery and proper reps/cycles with proper technique. Explosive power is a maximal effort activity and requires proper recovery times and technique to engage maximum power without increasing the risk of serious injury beyond the point of diminishing returns.
  2. Oh, man that brings me back. Central IL is Horseshoe heaven. A highly contested point in Central IL is who originated it, there is some shanty of a greasy spoon in Springfield that claims it. However in PTown there was a place called Richard's. Just down the road about a block from the World Famous establishment (I'm sure some of you have heard of). It was in the basement of a big high rise, and served steak until 4am. They also claimed to be the originator, and I can confirm they were delightful. Great little place, think Cheers, but terrible lighting, like I said steaks at 4am, bubble hockey, just a cozy dark and decrepit pub (truly my kind of atmosphere). Sadly with the economic downturn it was one of the downtown PTown casualties with Sully's, Sullivan's, and a few others. I hear Hoops may have went out as well (best pizza in town).
  3. Like a Ninja PS I ain't no Ball Stater. No, Chirp Chirpin will ever happen in these parts.
  4. I'm not sold that WL will end up in Indy. They are talented no doubt, but I'm not sure how the script ends for them. Agreed. Cal Preps predictor doesn't even have WL winning regional. Concordia is the heavy favorite. Which I think might be underselling Luers a little. Mish-Marian is a good pick as well. That is if they can get past the wily Bombers
  5. He played WR last year.
  6. He's a baller cuz. Has always kind of been overshadowed by some of the other talents, but very important to the team IMHO.
  7. Agree. I thought/think 12 was/is a very good weapon. One thing Heights always seems to have is a bevy of good athletes.
  8. Is 12 still the signal caller? He is a good looking kid. It definitely made the offense look different when you guys made the switch.
  9. Her name is Alicia Machado!
  10. My take: Rumor has it they (by they I mean you the one and only Foxie) have been playing a vicious Bit-O-Honey Gambit with the one they call Blaine to get favorable games recruited into the series. Just a heads up he's a sucker for chicken wings, cheese dogs, and average to above average companionship. He's a public schoolboy they don't fall for your tomfoolery. Clearly Alum can't compete in 2or3A. Lucky for him there have been a plethora of lowly 1A games to feast on and inflate his numbers. Enough weaklings anyway to make him feel like a dominant, rather than like a submissive in a windowless red room with no X-Box. POW POW. BendNotBreak is a slump-buster away from a hot streak, I can feel it. All of this Raelynn talk may put him over the hump. I'd watch out for dazedandconfused. He puts on a good show like he's confused, but secretly he's not. Captain3-pete is lurking in the shadows, and the ever Mixer-Pickem-Bridesmaid please release the CAPS LOCK BECAUSE HE'S SHOUTING HIS NAME LOUDER THAN THE BIGLY GOP NOMINEE COACHMARTIN are both very much within striking distance. "Believe me folks, Believe me, if COACHMARTIN wins it'll be YOUGE! It'll be the YOUGEST, like David and Goliath youge. Like a tower I can't pay the taxes on youge. He'll return the Caddy for a Bentley. Believe me." Also, I forgot to make my picks last week or I would be squarely in the middle of the pack... again. I feel like Tom Cruise, "haven't I read this same script already like a dozen times? Ah who cares Mission Impossible #12 as long as I can repel into a secure room and catch a drop of sweat, it's good enough, I guess."
  11. He was looking for Raelynn... that chick owed him money.
  12. I feel like Daniel Tosh lets see how many jokes I can drop in 20 seconds Raelynn must be recruiting new chicks after her promotion to Madam of YA. YA where backyard chickens were a thing before they were a thing. I belive Hoover once visited YA proclaiming, "A chicken on every corner" What's the matter Col. Sanders... Chicken!?!?!? Anybody seen Chicken George that man owes me TreeFiddy! Only in YA would someone post a "For Sale" sign upside down
  13. A guy steps away for 24 hours to present at an academic conference, and misses 3 CJB references. My penance will be 3 Bit-O-Honeys, and a 75-25 mix at practice.
