  5. I'm pretty sure that track seeds individual events--giving preferential lane and heat assignments to the best times and field event marks. I'm pretty sure swimming does this, too. I don't think there's any way to seed teams, just individuals. For sectionals, there used to be qualifying marks way back in the old days, but for the last 30 years or so, I believe schools have been allotted 2 individuals per event and 1 relay team, unless they had 3 or more individuals meet the state meet qualifying standard.
  6. I respectfully withdraw my attempt to add to this thread my own poor attempt at an "Oh my". I didn't realize that there was a 1 perspective limit.
  7. Well, three of those are older than the 20 year parameter (2000, 2000, 2001), one of the has not happened yet (2023), and one of them, Mt. Vernon (Fortville) is actually about 45 miles north of Bargersville. So that puts the number squarely at 10 (out of about 110 championships I think). I think directly or indirectly we are both shining the spotlight on the Indy area and surrounding counties. That region's probably won 60 or more state championships in the last 20 years.
  8. Now do the same thing for schools south of Bargersville for the last 20 years. I don’t think the total championship count even reaches double digits. Oh my!
  9. As I recall (though I might be wrong) the HCC showed all three Lafayette teams the door out of the conference; it was not Jeff, McCutcheon, or Harrison wanting to leave. Though in hindsight, all three are probably better off for it.
  10. How about that group in 5A! All four teams in the top 10 of 5A in the Sagarin. A combined .750 winning percentage at this point in the season. By the end of the regular season, McCutcheon will likely have the worst record at 6-3. I gotta think that Harrison is the favorite at this point, but there don't seem to be any 'gimme' teams in that sectional.
  11. Yep. Logic seems to be absent in this situation. If I were one of those AD's I'd be hard pressed to renew any athletic contracts with Jeff. Interesting . . . What would that look like?
  12. Why would Jeff vote HHS and MHS out of the conference, then turn around and follow them out the door?
  13. The crazy part is that it appears that Jeff voted in favor of the ouster of HHS and MHS
  14. I think, though there were a few blips, Jeff has deep ties and long history with the NCC, and most of the NCC schools are clinging to that past glory. People I've talked to have said for all intents and purposes, this was a move to get Harrison out because they were becoming too dominant in most/all sports. Harrison and McCutcheon are basically joined at the hip so if Harrison got the boot so did McCutcheon. I think south makes more sense for MHS and HHS, but I think they'll be in a really tough spot finding a conference or a handful of schools willing to join them.
  15. It seemed like you were offering excommunication as a rebuttal for PHJIrish’s statement that “you ban yourself. It’s always your choice.” I was simply offering that excommunication only happens because of exactly what PHJIrish said.
  16. Because of the excommunicated individual’s choices and actions, right?
  17. Things may have changed in the last 6 months, but the article states that Tech will leave the NCC on June 1, 2023, so I think they will play other NCC schools (probably due to contracts and the difficulty of putting together a new schedule on short notice) but the will not be part of the conference, it appears.
  18. Pretty sure that's not the case, though I think he played 1 year for LCC's Jr. High team (could be wrong though).
  19. You’re calling someone out for ducking a question? Interesting
  20. An excellent post! Clever, thought provoking!! I think this might just be the straw that broke the camel’s back! I anticipate that this post and the numbers you articulated will end this debate once and for all on the GID!!
  21. In what ways? Please provide a way to potentially quantify your glittering generality.
  22. I guess I would say "So what!"? Why does there need to be a connection between the tournament and the regular season? If someone is unable to see the value and impact that involvement in a regular season of football provides for players, schools, communities, etc. I just don't know what to say. I'm actually intrigued by the concept of a qualifying tournament; I just have yet to hear a practical argument that I could get behind.
  23. And if that is the case, why does a change in structure need to occur? Also, if that is the case, doesn't that defeat the argument that a qualification structure provides more meaning?
  24. Footballking16 in multiple posts referred to the regular season as meaningless--that is the exact wording--the posts did not say "less meaningful". Quantify 'more meaning' for me. Would a playoff qualifier universally create more meaning or would it simply modify/change the meaning of the regular season for a certain number of schools? I am not staunchly in the camp of keeping the 'all-in' format. I would just like to see a more practical or quantifiable reasoning than the "more meaning" argument.
