  1. What does the probable future hold for Bremen, Jimtown, and John Glenn?
  2. Do the Eddies have swimming? Their events for track and field are slightly different. I think their girl's basketball season lines up differently as well as volleyball. It would be better to try and poach a team from another conference in Indiana. Culver Academies?
  3. When the remaining NSC schools invited Wawasee to join a new conference I am told the answer was a resounding no and one of the arguments was that New Prairie was too far away. Mishawaka would be an attractive addition being a 4A enrollment school and realtively easy travel. If Penn would be an option, then why give Elkhart the boot? Including either St. Joe or Marian is not all that attractive in my opinion. South Bend - we played Washington in football last year and the 10 fans they brought were spirited. I am not sure Fairfield would want to leave the NECC, but they do not have all the sports. A couple of teams that might be attractive to add are both 4A and are pretty good in many sports are East Noble (20 miles from Wawasee - same distance to Northridge for Wawasee) and Columbia City.
  4. What happens when Elkhart consolidates and the NLC is left with 7 teams? What is the next step? 1. Who does the NLC proactively go after? Remember, the NLC by-laws state that each school must participate in all recognized sports. 2. Is there a chance the NLC disintegrates because there may be a push to form another conference poaching teams like Warsaw, Goshen, and Concord? 3. Is there a chance of forming a mega conference between the NIC and NLC with large and small school divisions? 4. Does the NLC continue on like it had in the past with 7 teams until someone comes along like Memorial and applies for membership? There are rumors the former NSC schools are not happy in the NIC...maybe one of them will apply? Interesting food for thought. The consolidation is coming and it will affect a lot of schools in one way or another.
  5. Well, the cat is out of the bag. Eastside's Mike Eshbach is the new coach at Wawasee. He was meeting with students, teachers, and administrators at Wawasee today according to a several players and confirmed by a coach on the staff.
  6. Not impressed
  7. Yep, and he will not be trying to defeat Fremont or Prairie Heights.....
  8. Career coaching record is below .500.
  9. Honestly? A 1A below .500 NECC school? The coaching futility at Wawasee will apparently continue.... Shoved out the door by corp administration....
  10. Coach Josh Ekovich informed his players this moring that he will not be returning as their head coach next season.
  11. Wawasee and Plymouth
  12. Wawasee will be looking for a new football coach. Coach Ekovich announced his resignation to the team this morning.
  13. March is when Buck is leaving. Trudy Battjes will fill out the rest of the school year...at least that is what was reported by someone at lunch from EC. Time will tell.
  14. The word going around is that they are going to hire an athletic director after the school year.
  15. Culture may have something to do with it, coaching may...and the culture of the program is the product of the coaching staff (especially if they have been the coaching staff for a while). Middle schools may have a role to play, but not sure how much. It is interesting because Warsaw "seems" to have all the tools to build a dominating program, but they fall short.
