Power Rankings!

1. Reitz (4-0)- Defense is legit for the Panthers to the point where scoring enough gets the job done.

2. Memorial (4-0)- Another legit defense and #1 overall in the SIAC, great passing game from the Tigers, and questions on the run game.

3. Castle (3-1)- Very good offense from the Knights scoring around 41 points per game, still working on a few things defensively.

4. VL (3-1)- Pretty good offense from the Alices too, seems like they are still figuring some things on the defense.

5. Jasper (2-2)- Slowly getting there, but putting up 550 rushing yards is quite a feat no matter the opponent.

6. North (2-2)- Still a lot of potential for the Huskies if they can get a few things fixed.

7. Mater Dei (1-3)- MD well Defensively against Memorial last week holding them to 9 points. However, MD’s offense couldn’t do much last week against a very good Memorial Defense.

8. Bosse (1-3)- Lots of talent on Bosse especially in Wagner, but lots to work on defensively.

9. Harrison (0-4)- Gave Castle a game in the 1H for a bit before Castle completely took over. Long ways ahead for the Warriors.

10. Central (0-4)- Same boat with Harrison.

I watched a replay of the MD /Tigers game. Any idea why 5 doesn’t get more touches? He looked more fluid and had some success. The run game looks off and 6 isn’t helping himself.

Personally, I do not know why #5 doesn’t get more touches. But I know he had a problem holding onto the ball at one point

Until this week he was needed more at D End. Now he'll be needed at D End and RB. Great opportunity for him.

Some thoughts after week 5/going into week 6:

- Memorial defense continues to get the job done. Not sure when Rode is expected back, but I think they are fine with or without him. Obviously, their offense takes a huge hit without Fisher. Will he be back? None of the reports I've heard have been necessarily good. Harrison had some opportunities to score but continue in their struggles. Expect them to beat Central.

- Reitz had a great opportunity to get their offense rolling and they took full advantage of it. Putting up 69 in a half is unbelievable. And most of their starters were out by mid-2nd quarter. This was the perfect momentum booster as they head into big matchups against Castle and Memorial. Central is obviously in very rough shape and well on their way to another winless season.

- I thought Mater Dei would be able to keep their game closer or even win. After their close game against Memorial, I thought they were starting to round the corner. However, it does appear Jasper has figured some things out and much like last year, will be playing their best football come playoff time.

- I mentioned before the game that I think Vincennes could beat Castle so I was not surprised by the result. People underestimate how much more of a complete team they are. Hunt is still an impact player on offense and their defense really gets after it. They could definitely make some noise in the 3A playoffs. Castle has shown some inconsistencies this season but are still one of the top teams in the conference. But do they have a shot at home against Reitz? You would think so but I think Reitz is head and shoulders better.

- The North Bosse final score was the most surprising result of the week to me. I thought Bosse would be able to hang in closer than that. It seems like their defense is really struggling. North hasn't been very efficient on offense this season but was able to get a nice momentum booster in this one. North defense has been pretty solid. I expected North to win more like 35-24.

Updated Power Rankings going into week 6:

1. Reitz (5-0)

2. Memorial (5-0)

3. Vincennes (4-1)

4. North (3-2)

5. Castle (3-2)

6. Jasper (3-2)

7. Mater Dei (1-4)

8. Bosse (1-4)

9. Harrison (0-5)

10. Central (0-5)

I don’t know about Jasper at 6. While I know it is splitting hairs at this point, I think they should be at least 5, if not 4. Both North and Jasper have played Memorial and Reitz (their only two losses, Castle has not played either of those teams, and has already had two losses hung on them by the field. There is a real possibility Castle gets three more L’s this season.

I don’t know how to do the thing that shows the odds of winning. Can someone tell me what the predictor thing shows reitz and memorial against EastCentral. I’d love to see someone from our sectional make it to Lucas Oil and just curious about it.

I think if we combine the teams in sectional 24 East Central would only be a 2 TD favorite.
