      Corrupt files   07/26/2017

The server files for the forum were lost early in the morning 26,July 2017.   I restored the forum but using a fresh install of the forum software but we lost all of the images stored on the server. The way I see it... no big deal as it gives us a fresh start.   Over the next couple days I will restore the images I have saved for the forum. but I do not have everyone personal image. You can easily restore that yourself. Any pictures shared in a post that were stored here are also gone... again a fresh start of no clutter.    I just wanted to let you know what was going on. This will display until 1, Sept 2017.

Tom Crean Out After 9 Years

It was time. He peaked a couple years ago. Solid recruiter and ok coach is not enough for IU. Are they ready to pony up? Brad Stevens or Billy Donovan would be my first two choices.

Interesting. When the football team loses it's "offensive coordinator in over his head" head coach, they turn to the local hero who is probably now about the lowest paid head coach in a Power 5 program. But when it's time to find a new basketball coach, the expectation is that they'll break the bank to lure a guy away from the NBA. That speaks volumes about why the football program is where it is, and where it has been.

Is it time for Steve Alford to come home?

Five NCAA championships, including an undefeated season, will do that for a program.

and IU faithful would be ok with him coming home and not even worry about his days of covering sexual assault at Iowa.....

Stevens and Billy D are not showing up in Bloomington.

Marshall at Wichita St is my concern from Purdue fan perspective, Alford is meh.......

NO!  The Dude is NOT OK with him "coming home."

You should be concerned whoever IU hires.  They've made it clear they're going to pursue 'A-list' candidates.  Banner Up!

Names already being thrown around:

Wichita State’s Gregg Marshall
Dayton’s Archie Miller
Xavier’s Chris Mack
Butler’s Chris Holtmann
Virginia’s Tony Bennett
UCLA’s Steve Alford
Baylor’s Scott Drew
Cincinnati’s Mick Cronin
And Billy Donovan is rumor at this point, but it would not surprise the Dude if Billy D ends up in BTown.

Names already being thrown around:

Wichita State’s Gregg Marshall :  LEGIT CANDIDATE
Dayton’s Archie Miller :  NOPE:  O$U HOLD OUT
Xavier’s Chris Mack :  Really an A list candidate?  MEH
Butler’s Chris Holtmann  NOT A CHANCE HE IS GOING THERE
Virginia’s Tony Bennett  If Illinois doesn't snag him 1st, but a LEGIT candidate, but an A-List??  Not sure
UCLA’s Steve Alford
Baylor’s Scott Drew:  Makes sense as a consolation prize
Cincinnati’s Mick Cronin  Again, you say A LIST, I say not a chance he is an "A" list candidate
And Billy Donovan is rumor at this point, but it would not surprise the Dude if Billy D ends up in BTown.

The only 2 true A List candidate are in the NBA and Brad Stevens is not coming to IU from C's and imagine the same for BIlly D.

Gregg Marshall has said many times that he is happy at Wichita, in fact I heard him last week say that he is fully confident they will win a National Title there. Could just be talking just to talk, but I would be surprised if he left the program he has built there. IU could definitely give him a pay raise though...

Regardless of who IU hires it better be someone who can recruit the state of Indiana. I would think Alford could do that, especially after having some success now at UCLA and getting the Ball family. Chris Holtman could do that, Dane Fife could probably do that. If they are going to hire an up and comer Fife would be my choice.

If you can sign the majority of the top in-state talent starting in 2018 you will have a good team, that's how Crean had his success at IU, by getting the top in-state talents like Zeller, Hulls, and Yogi and then mixing in guys with potential from out of state like Oladipo, Elston, Sheehey.

Glass just needs to take a trip to New Albany and ask Romeo Langford who he would sign with as IU's coach LOL

While I am a fan of Marshall being in Bloomington, I understand that it probably won't happen. However, when he was asked point blank yesterday he left door open a tiny bit.

Greg Marshall seems to be following the Mark Few route, King of the mountain in a decent conference and will continue to be king and has everything he wants as a Shocker.  Just like Few has turned down all pacific coast overtures throughout the years.    IU would be silly not to reach out, just depends how Marshall truly feels about it

These two things tell the true story, about the state of athletics, at Indiana University. Fred Glass is in over his head. And it will continue with this next hire.

“the deal (with) Alford is done.” - http://www.indystar.com/story/sports/columnists/gregg-doyel/2017/03/19/doyel-steve-alford-noise-deafening-and-kind-dumb/99361610/

...

How hot is Alford’s IU candidacy? So hot that WFNI's Dan Dakich told me in a text message Saturday — with Alford’s third-seeded Bruins preparing to play No. 6 Cincinnati on Sunday — that “the deal (with) Alford is done.” Dakich and Alford played together at IU. Another coincidence, maybe.

...

Anybody believe Mr. Dakich?

Perhaps, but, if that is the case, why did Fred Glass hire a search firm if the deal is already done?

Gotta keep up appearances and all that, especially with so many desired coaches in the NCAA tournament.

I understand the draw of Alford.

However, the purpose for firing Crean was to get an established coach with a proven track record of deep runs in the tourney.  That's the piece IU wants to fix.  So how do you hire someone with zero final fours, let alone not having multiple final four trips.

You are talking out of both sides of your mouth then.  If you want an Indiana guy because that's the missing piece then say that.  The mantra has been deep playoff runs are needed.

the Crimson Quarry Blog which has thrown a big fit about Crean's departure which has almost made the blog unreadable did bring up a fair point. This all seems very similar to when IU hired Sampson. As in the media and fan base have a bunch of names that seem like the direction IU will likely go with wild rumors and then the admin comes completely out of left field and hires a person no one thought of cause they have a pretty good job already like Sampson had with (OU).

Some of the names thrown out by CQ were (Frank Martin, Shakia Smart and Jay Wright) would not be surprised to see them do this I would add Mark Few as well maybe your right he likes being King Of the Hill and doesn't want to be on the mountain and under the microscope at IU , but there has been mutual interest in the past. IU would never be this stupid but don't think for a min Bruce Pearl hasn't been lobbying for this job as well.

Personally I hoping for Donovan, thinking it will be Alford and am growing on the idea of Fife.

why do folks feel that Billy Donovon would be so quick to jump from nba back to college???

Jay Wright would be a tremendous HIRE for IU.

I think the situation is a little different in OKC than Donovan thought it was going to be..... Durant leaves for a WC rival that makes them almost impossible to get past, They get rid of Ibaka as well and left with Westbrook and a very young core. Yes this is good on paper and they are still a "playoff" team but its very similar to the issue the Pacers are in. Now you faced with the possibility of losing Westbrook this year or next and I don't think a rebuilding job is what Donvoan had in mind when he decided to leave for the NBA (hints is 1 day as the Magic head coach). Also IU is not what i would call a rebuilding job, might be down next year, but a good recruiting class can bring you right back to a Big10 title contender. With all that said I'm not convinced he will either, I just don't think it would be out of the relm of possible. Plus take a look at his recent quotes on the situation "i'm committed while I'm here"......... Not excatly the words I would want to hear from my franchise coach. But I will admit these are just fan boy hopes, however I do think Jay Wright would be an Amazing hire!!!!!!!!

The ESPN talk shows were all over that Donovan comment today. Adding fuel to this, Westbrook has one more year in OKC before he leaves. There is really nothing left there for Donovan. Jay Wright would be a great hire, although his name has not come up.

Your definition of A List and the Dude's definition must be completely different.  Miller must of thought O$U wasn't "worth" the wait.
