  1. 2017 Hoosiers

So true!! I love this kids attitude. Being a senior and captain, he never got down....kept working and leading from the sidelines and when he got the reins back in his hands, has played very strong. Check out his tweet about his decision to come to IU if you get a chance. This young man is full of class.
  2. 2017 Hoosiers

Trying to look at the class half full...2 of the 4 wins this year are against FCS opponents. 1 Big 10 win against a cellar team in the West and hopefully another this week against a cellar team in the east. Other than the UVA win in Charlottesville, not a ton for Allen to hang his hat on this season. Let's get through one game at a time, and see if they earn the right with a .500 record and 4 FBS wins to play in a bowl game. I will certainly watch bowl game, but not sure win or lose, I would call it a great year.
  3. Greenwood at East central

Amen....let's go Woodmen!! Get it done!!!
  4. Center Grove @ Avon

Trojans battled last night. D was without 3 key starters (Daming, Hays, and Gephart) that impacted DLine, LB's and secondary, yet never quit. (Not blaming loss on that as Avon was so explosive with best throwing QB I remember this season. Receivers were outstanding as well). Hope some of the incoming seniors and juniors dedicate themselves during the offseason and step it up with a chip on their shoulder. This team won a sectional and that's not a given or a walk in the park. Congrats Trojans on a fine season!! Congrats to the O's on a fantastic regional championship. Good luck next week!!!
  5. 2017 Hoosiers

you mean they're not already doing that? Did you see the stands for the Wisconsin game? Was embarrassing on ABC. So many stay out in the parking lots tailgating and never even buy a ticket..... Wilson used Tyler Natee (big hoss) and Rickie Brookins at RB's quite a bit last year...they haven't much sniffed the field this year. Not sure what has happened.....
  6. 2017 Hoosiers

I'm seeing your point more and more DT. I'm also not fond of a coach acting like a SPAZ on the sidelines. I love the excitement when it called for....but its too much for me. I'm a believer of acting like you've been there before......
  7. You are the man Bob....congrats on a wonderful officiating career and an epic closing of a chapter. Time to start the new one!!
  8. 2017 Hoosiers

Very interesting DT. I thought Lovie Smith, having the NFL pedigree, would perform better in this arena. Guess not.
  9. Nittany Lions vs. Buckeyes: Who Ya’ Got?

As usual, I was wrong. Barrett was incredible with his arm. D and O lines were incredible in the 4th quarter when it mattered the most. You made the call!!!
  10. Nittany Lions vs. Buckeyes: Who Ya’ Got?

I have much respect for both programs....and we agree its good for the Big 10 and college football to have Penn State back. I think it will be an excellent game, and I have difficulty seeing OSU losing 2 games at home in a single season. Wonder when that has occurred last? I am not throwing Barrett under the bus with passing, but I am still scared more with his legs and running than anything. He may flat out prove me wrong, and that certainly wouldn't be the first or the last time I was wrong. My wife can absolutely testify to that statement!! Enjoy the game. Now if we could find a way to move IU out of the Big 10 East.........
  11. Nittany Lions vs. Buckeyes: Who Ya’ Got?

I agree both teams have great defenses....I'm just not sure OSU is as balanced as PSU in terms of passing game. No knock against Barrett, because he is an exceptional athlete. Just looking at the teams OSU has played the last 5 games, just not sure if that is a predictor of a strong passing game against the likes of a Penn State. (very different degree of opposition than teams like UNLV, Rutgers, Nebraska, Maryland, etc.) Also, it will be interesting to see what impact the weather has on the game tomorrow. I maybe off based, but I would rather take my chances with Barrett's arm vs. his legs.
  12. Nittany Lions vs. Buckeyes: Who Ya’ Got?

Nittany Lions......but I am biased. If the Lions can make Barrett & OSU one dimensional and force him to pass, I really like their chances. PSU seems to have a more balanced offense.
  13. 2017 Hoosiers

Its a good point DT. Now, I do enjoy and think its essential to have a solid D to sustain winning, but I get your point about the offense. I'm wondering if he made a mistake naming Ramsey the starter. I think he will be a good one, but the youngster seems to struggle with decision making and I question his arm strength. Perhaps the inability to make the tougher passes is on the O coordinator not putting in those plays. I'm wondering if they pulled the plug too soon on Lagow. Sure he makes some bad throws...but he lit up the Ohio State secondary. I don't think Wilson would have benched Lagow for Ramsey. (just an opinion) Any thoughts?
  14. 2017 Hoosiers

Remember the football helmets of the Cameron era??
  15. 2017 Hoosiers

No doubt his offenses were off the charts....even if he could muster an average D, they would have been a tough out for anyone in the conference and would have absolutely moved up. Shame that we couldn't see him a few years there with Allen as his D coordinator, as the D improved to good the only year they were together.
  16. 2017 Hoosiers

O coordinator at OU....O coordinator at OSU. It seems like a wash to me. Impressive sure...as an O coordinator. Doesn't make him a great head coach and perhaps a major reason why IU's teams were so unbalanced in terms of offense vs. defense. Research his teams D rankings and stats (scoring) while at IU....both in the Big 10 and D1 overall. I'm not super negative on Wilson....can't argue with his explosive offenses.....but his defenses were polar opposite.
  17. 2017 Hoosiers

Kevin Wilson improved the program...no doubt. Explosive offenses, while having the worst defenses year after year in the Big 10 and some of the worst in D1 football. That didn't change until the hiring of Allen. I guess we shall see if Wilson is coveted as a head coach by other major conferences. But he never impressed me with his focus on defense. Hopefully one day, the Hoosiers will find a coach that will bring balanced offenses, defenses and special teams. Too early to tell about Allen. Certainly has his work cut out for him in the Big 10 with much bigger names in coaching to compete against for talent.
  18. 2017 Hoosiers

I'm not trashing the Ramsey kid at all. He showed incredible moxie against UM. I just can't tell about his arm strength...the past patterns were very short, but they may have been the game plan given he is so young, and UM's DL vs. IU's OL. I do know that Michigan consistently throughout the game only had 1 safety back, and he would many times come flying up at the snap. So they did not respect IU's ability to go deep, especially over the middle. And they left their corners to fend for themselves, even against Cobbs. Michigan was taking away the run and making the youngster beat them with the pass....which is very sound strategy. According to the Indy Star, Harbaugh praised Ramsey's play.
  19. My only "complaint" about the facilities was the lack of bathrooms (none) on the visitor side. Other than that, not a bad place with some character. Next time I will know to hit the men's room on the way in to the stands. Thought it was ok, and can see how Cathedral wanted a home game. I believe the original contract was for 4 games....so in theory the series is over. Does anyone know if it will be renewed? 4 TO's factored into this game....not the facilities.
  20. 2017 Hoosiers

Ramsey getting tremendous pub in the Indy Star for the future. I was at the game yesterday. I guess I am torn if he has the arm strength to make all of the throws needed by a Big 10 QB. Thoughts?
  21. Should have in 1980 when they won the HHC and stopped East's winning streak. But 2 close losses knocked the STARS out of the playoffs. Playing Mitchell back then really hurt them for qualifying points, even with blow out victories.
  22. DTs Dandy Dozen - College Recap Oct 8, 2017

True about Tennessee...but Purdue wasn't the job it used to be and Brohm took it and look at the results. Who's to say he couldn't be the savior of Rocky Top? Guessing he would love their facilities..... https://247sports.com/Article/top-five-facilities-in-college-football-37790331
  23. DTs Dandy Dozen - College Recap Oct 8, 2017

I think you are spot on.....Love what Brohm has done so quickly for the Boilers....but I see greener pastures ahead for him. (Purdue will have to step it up with the $$$ to hold on) He is a hot, hot name. Even getting the NY Times to write about him. https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2017/9/20/16334894/purdue-football-2017-jeff-brohm-head-coach-offense http://www.cleveland.com/osu/2017/09/why_purdues_jeff_brohm_is_earl.html https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/06/sports/ncaafootball/michigan-purdue-big-ten.html Being in the Big 10 west is a plus for Brohm. He could absolutely put them in the Big 10 title game in the near future.
  24. CG put on the field 19 new starters this season....been a treat to watch them grow and compete. They have been in every ball game except BD (2nd half). There is no jury out on their sustainability.....future looks bright. That is simply your talk. Regarding the HCC...anything is possible, so never say never...I get that. The other sports compete against a number of HCC schools. Just not seeing yet the benefit of football driving the need to change conferences. If there is ever a conference change, it would be for well more than football. The MIC is and will continue to be the premier Indiana 6A conference and one of the best in the country for the foreseeable future.
  25. Cameron McGrone is one of the best (if not the best) LB I've seen in the MIC. And that includes watching MIC games for years and witnessing some incredible LB's. That young man is flat out impressive. Predict he will have a nice career at Michigan.
