  1. Sect 42 final LCC @ Pioneer

Would love to but I travel too much and I'm more of an offense guy myself. Look the result is what it is. Pioneer got the job done handily. Was my assessment inaccurate? Seemed pretty obvious that when the QB had time, he completed passes, and when he didn't have time and was flushed he didn't. My mistake for making conversation on a message board. Regardless... The game is over. On to the next thread.
  2. If you have never been, it is an awesome experience! https://www.abca.org/convention

This is a sad reality. I know of baseball coaches who are afraid to work their diamonds for the same reason. Admins have said "Let our groundskeepers handle it" and they are far from turf management experts... and it's terribly evident.

    DARN those administrators!

Hopefully Pioneer throws a little bit in practice because they'll likely be able to get thru the next couple weeks with less than 5 total attempts. The running game looked that good Friday. The theme of this game will be "Early and Often". Pioneer big... Again. I guess that's not really fair to say without actually seeing Laville play. What do they bring to the table on each side of the ball? I think the formula has always been the same for beating Pioneer (IF YOU HAVE THE GUYS TO EXECUTE): Offensively - Spread them out and force them to defend pass first. Throw away from #4 and get rid of it quick. As far as running game, Pioneer does a great job of stringing out sweep plays and the secondary fills fast. This PIoneer defense also shut down the middle run game pretty much all night against LCC. Defensively - I like the idea of a 3-3-5 or 3-5 and slant the down lineman. Defenses who have played 4 man front all year could probably shift enough to give a 3 man look (A lot for any team to change, I realize). Backers HAVE to read the triangle in front of them (guard -tackle) and fly to where they go. I could be wrong in this, but in the last 20 some years, it's rare that Pioneer has to get into many false pull plays. Safeties have to be decisive and fill fast. Guys off the ball should work on timing the snap. These offenses usually (USUALLY) don't run many different plays out of specific timings/motions. That being said, Pioneer is really... really good at what they do on both sides of the ball. Schemes and philosophies are fun to talk about, but it's all about having the guys who can execute.

I think this would be awesome. Am I the only one that hates when people just allow the "old saying" to continue? Pioneer has had top tier football for decades but a bottom tier playing surface for the same amount of time. Pioneer also has the luxury of not having to share it with soccer. There are plenty of people in the community who care enough about football to remedy the problem. Just fix it already!

Understand this thread has run its course but.. LCC was effective throwing the ball...When they had time. Was surprised we didn't see more bubble game or trips looks from LCC. Was that because of the push up front that Pioneer's D-line was getting? I felt like Pioneer should have came with extra guys more often. Sat back in coverage too many times and as was said on here multiple times, passing game was able to exploit Pioneer's only weakness. Even with #4 deep over top, a good qb will be able to look him off. He did make a great play to be in the area for that first INT. Little luck never hurt anybody but he had to get there in the first place to have a shot. Special teams was an absolute nightmare for LCC. Definitely didn't help their case in this one. Is Lutheran looking at last year's state tape and this LCC game yet? Pioneer's rushing game is DEEP. #4 made almost every read correctly. Honestly no reason for this team to not get a shot at Lucas oil for the next several years.

That's a ton? That's like 1 a game and the fact that they've played a lot of run first teams would only make more sense that they should have more with the poor passing teams (there are a reason why those teams are run first!) I'm super pumped to see all of these crazy coverages! I sure hope the schemes have changed since the days LCC HAS had the guys to make the reads and throws!

Oh, I'm totally aware. He was just the best of "the good catholic boys"
  10. Sect 42 final LCC @ Pioneer

I love it. Not sure how you define "big margins" but it looks to me that 2 or 3 of their 7 losses were by big margins. One of which to a 6A school. Then again, I guess a Pioneer local would be able to identify a big margin when they see one. Did I see an 80-0 score this year? Nice! How quickly we forget that one of Pioneer's best players in the history of the program was Catholic in BW. But hey.. You're the one pointing out the hypocrites! Really excited to watch this one. I can't wait to see all the humility on here regardless of the result!
  11. My biggest current argument for legitimizing the regular season is playing out right now. Park Tudor had to forfeit a game this year in the regular season due to low roster numbers: https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/high-school/2017/09/28/park-tudor-cancels-football-game-due-low-roster-count/715117001/ They now sit in the sectional finals. Not only did the program cheat another school of a regular season game, but also by taking that week off and "getting healthy" has likely allowed them to play an extra two weeks compared to many other programs.
  12. Sectional 31 - Class 3A

I've seen both. Get NH behind schedule and they're in trouble. Batesville not a great defensive team but were still able to give their team a shot. LB going to be way too physical as long as they get off the bus.
  13. Heck... Batesville is about to make the 2+ hour drive to North Harrison in the current format!

  15. Unfortunately, Maxpreps is the most accurate of anything. Not even the IHSBCA has accurate records which is why their polls are always terrible.
