  2. Unfortunately, Maxpreps is the most accurate of anything. Not even the IHSBCA has accurate records which is why their polls are always terrible.
  3. Updated enrollment numbers

Interesting trend at LCC since the tradition factor was introduced. Are they adding on to their buildings? 233 in 2013-2015 264 in 2016-2017 291 in 2017-2019
  4. HNAC All-Conference

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume the passive aggression might have something to do with the "Co" POY and the State Runner-Up having less players than the team down 35. Can't say I disagree. The Pharos Tribune has gone the cowards way out multiple times in naming Co-POY in several sports over the years.

Gotta love the irony of Johnson leaving Pioneer and a year later they upend LCC and land back in the state title game! Pioneer is too disciplined in my mind. Not much has changed over the many years of this program's dominance. Many of the names are even still the same. Love many of the comparisons on here. People really thinking that Pioneer played their varsity every minute of every game. Good stuff! Good luck to both teams. Looking forward to seeing this one but I'm going with Pioneer 24-14.
  6. EIAC Week one

Where are all the regulars!? The GID is missing out on some quality posts!
  7. HNAC Week #2

  8. Problems with drones?

Could easily be used to film play call signals from the sideline.

CONSPIRACY WATCH: Interesting to see the changes in enrollment numbers for LCC with the introduction of the success factor. Enrollment in first year of 2A: 70, 56, 54, 50 Enrollment Now in 1A: 73, 68, 67, 56 http://gridirondigest.net/index.php/topic/2963-alums-dream-of-year-1-success-factor/?p=55347 Personally.. I like my stew with a little more chili powder in the off season!

While this may be true, in the end... the coach is standing on the sideline. He may have an impact on what goes on between the white lines.. but not so much between the earholes.

OH.. and my picks... Tri-County @ Pioneer You know my stance... I hope they continue to improve the passing game. Winamac @ Caston Can this really be called a tune-up? Things are bad on the Cass/Fulton line. We are well overdue for a change. West Central @ North Judson What's going on at NJ? Fountain Central @ North Vermillion My new rule.. Always go home team in these contests late in the year. Watseka (Illinois) @ Attica Pure guess. Knox @ Triton See above.. Also.. why is Knox so bad every year? Lake Station @ North Newton Gotta keep with the horse that's winning! North White @ South Newton NW is doing well, I see Carroll @ Frontier We've seen this year from Carroll coming right? It's between them and Pioneer for sectional 42. #2 LCC @ #1 Rensselaer Central Rensy is tough.. I could also see this as being one of those that LCC pulls off.
  12. MWC Pick ' Em Week 8

So is this memory week or player week? I'll do a little of both. Being a Caston Football alum from a poor football era (which one?), there aren't many great memories! For example, celebrating in the Tri-County visitors locker room after the one win of the year like you just won the Super Bowl. Felt good at the time.. Just disappointing looking back. On the other side, having an entire locker room wanting to kill you for changing a play at the line in OT to cost you the game at home on Senior night vs Tri County... Not a great feeling either. Playing Pioneer in 01 was on of the most fun games I ever played in despite the loss. So much anger and some really good football. What a great defense that was. I know the 02 boys get most of the credit, but I've said time and time again. That 01 defense in all black was one of the scariest things I've ever seen. Try taking a snap with a straight drop with Manus over center. I'm just glad he likes me. Also really enjoyed following their teams the next couple years all over the state in the tournament. Hard to believe that none of them could get back to Indy... That isn't to say Winamac never had some scary defenses. My only concussion came on a play where Shidler was in the backfield quick enough to tackle myself and the running back on a jetsweep. Not to mention any time we went to Winamac it was just an ugly, ugly game. Spent a lot of my career feeling like the FBS school scheduled on homecoming/senior night in the conference! But boy, the wins felt good. Beating #6 North White on homecoming was an amazing feeling... Having them come back 5 weeks later and beating us handily (not to mention some great help from a terrible officiating crew)... not so much! Also a bittersweet moment was the week of 9/11. Front page of the Pharos Tribune was a picture of our team and South Central standing in a circle for prayer prior to the game... What a wild time that was. Some of the best players that I physically saw (and remember): Caston - Zimpleman(s), Zartman, Homburg/Hoover, Wilson Pioneer - Winegardner, Manus, Odom, Pugh, Deboard (I guess) Frontier - Can't remember.. Lambert? West Central - Metzger South Newton - Logan and his QB (Wallace I think?), Watts, Welsch Winamac - McFarland, Roth(s), Adriano, Shidler, Other big kid North White - Never rememember their Offensive guys but had some great D-line (big kid to IU, Yenna) Unfortunately don't remember many TC names
  13. MWC Pick ' Em Week 8

This is swell... If all those things are true (Stress Fracture, Bad Shoulder, etc)... You're still playing with fire taking a knee on first down. Personally as a defensive player, that would fire me up for the rest of the series. Seems like Down, Down, Buck would give you a better shot at a first down.
  14. MWC Pick ' Em Week 8

I'd hate to beat a year in year out dead horse, but how has the passing game looked? I know SK's numbers are good, but how has it actually looked? Any early down throwing or mostly 3rd?
