  1. this is all up my alley! lol. I used to be paper and pencil.. then created my own little spreadsheet.. that exploded into that I do now... still spreadsheet... but there are a ton of others linked... a billion formula and calculations.... and only I know what's going on!!! But it does the job for me. I go back every game night and watch every play to catch any and every detail. I want tackles to be correct... it's hard to make that call live in the game sometimes. And I am amazed at how many times the credit for something is given to another... an INt.. or a rush attempt.. etc. HUDL has been awesome for that.
  2. well in Linton's case... the Miners have faced with Sullivan (15 miles to our west) 108 times as of 2023. As it was then...it is the biggest rivalry in every sport played. And we've played North Knox...and Bicknell before consolidated, a long long time as well. I see the 1st meeting was 1906, but there were some non playing years in those early days.
  3. Thank you sir.... I know my notoriously long posts can be tedious at times...but I am a man of information LOL. I loved doing all that just got to where I was playing catch-up with everything life deals out. I will work this off-season trying to get all my files updated to where I can get back to those times.
  4. Thought I'd take a look at Linton's football history in the post season just to see who takes us out every year but 1 LOL... THis year we got knocked out by Southmont in OT.... They then went on to win at Eastern Hancock, and get beaten pretty good by North Posey...who then got beat soundly by Luers. 2022 2A SemiState-Mater Dei--- who went on to win 2A title. 2021-2A Sect 2- Mater Dei- who went on lose lose 2A State to Andrean. 2020-2A Sect Championship-Mater Dei- Won Reg.. lost to WeBo in Semi State who went on to win State Title over Luers 2019-2A Sect 2-Mater Dei- they would lose to Triton Central in Reg. then lose to WeBo in Semi. WeBo won State over Eastbrook 2018-2A SEct 2- Mater Dei- who then lost to Southridge in oT Sectional championship. Raiders then won Reg but lost to WeBo in Semi. 2017-2A-Sect 2-Southridge-who beat MAter Die, Providence, then Scecina to reach 2A State-- winning over Woodlan. 2016-1A We win State over Pioneer (they beat LCC in Semi (We beat Lutheran in Semi) 2015-1A State Finals Lost to LCC 2014-1A Reg- Lost to North Vermillion- who won State over Pioneer having beaten Lutheran in Semi. 2013-1A Semi- Lost to Eastern Hancock, who lost in State Final to Tri-Central 2012-1A Semi- Lost in OT to Scecina. They lost to LCC again...in State Final 2011-1A Semi- Lost to Scecina. They would lost State Final game to LCC 2010-1A Sect Champ- Lost to Perry Central, who lost to Fountain Central in Reg. FC beat Guerin in Semi but lost to LCC again in 1A Title Game... It was just Guerin Cath's 5th season in Football, they were still 1A! 2009-1A Reg- Lost to Fountain Central- Who lost in 1A State Final to LCC. 2008-1A Semi- Lost to Ritter who won State over Sheridan. 2007-1A Reg- Lost to Rockville who then beat Ritter to reach State Title...losing to Sheridan 2006-1A Sect 2- Lost to Perry Central. PC reached the Semi where they lost to Ritter---who Lost State in OT to Sheridan. 2005-1A Sect 1- Lost to Perry CEntral. The Commodores lost in Semi to Knightstown by 1. Knightstown lost to Sheridan for State Title. 2004-1A Semi- Lost to Ritter in OT. Ritter lost State Game to Seeger. 2003 1A Sect Champ- Lost to Tecumseh. The BRaves lost to eventual State Champ Ritter in Semi State 2002-1A Sect 1- Lost to Springs Valley, who lost to Perry Central in Sect. PC beat Park Tudor in Reg, but lost in Semi to South Putnam...who lost in State Title to Southwood. 2001-1A SEct 1- Lost to North Daviess- who lost to Perry Central in Sect. PC lost State Title to Southern Wells 2000-1A Sect 1- Lost to Perry Central- who lost to Attica in Semi-- Attica lost Title Game to Adams Central 1999-1A Sect 1-Lost to Perry Central- who won Reg and Semi (over Ritter) but lost to LCC in State 1A Game. 1998-1A Semi- Lost to Sheridan, who won 1A Title beating North White. 1997-1A Semi-Lost to Knightstown, who lost 1A Title to Pioneer. What does this all mean? Nothing I suppose other than we are not very successful against the P/P schools LOL. Over all the games from 1997 onward we've only faced 19 P/P schools and almost all were in post-season. We did have a 4 year series with Providence and won 3 of those. Over-all though we've only got 6 wins against 13 losses. Mater Dei being 5 of them, Ritter 4 (2 losses in OT), Scecina 2 (another OT loss) and the State Title loss to LCC. Then other 3 wins came against Lutheran, Phalen (which I really hate to count as a game in general) and St. Teresa from Decatur Ill. this past year. in 10 of the years listed above--27 total -- P/P won state. 6 losses were to the eventual state champ. I know at Linton the attitude when shifted up to 2A was to win state you have to beat the best at some point, and we will strap up against anyone. We've tried to beef up the schedule along the way, and we've been successful but just haven't been able to get over the hump (usually Mater Dei).... just as we had humps to get over in the past (Perry Central in our sectional in 1A was dominant) then the Semi final losses to Ritter 2x and Scecina 2X. It is a fact Linton is barely in the 2A class at 386 enrolled...1A cut-off is at 378 (Park Tudor).
  5. I've know Brian for many years from back in his coaching at North Central, and of course our visits from Linton to North Vermillion. Always had great conversation with Brian... and I am surprised as well. Best wishes to him on whatever path he rolls down... I know he's still at NV in his teaching role as well.
  6. I really want to support North Posey.... but as Southmont beat us...and beat Eastern Hancock... it's hard not to keep pulling for coach hannum.. being a local guy. The Mounties keep finding ways to pull out the W....I love the #9 Woodall kid... plays hard.... I saw Hudson #14 on crutches early in that regional game... he had something like 18 tackles against Linton... I have not seen the Vikings... but as my Mom was a Griffin alum...who was part of the first class of North posey... I got loyalty there too!
  7. I work for a streaming company as well as having done radio for Linton 24 years... and ALWAYS preach it's better to be there in person... Noting like game night... and the kids deserve the support in person. I definitely have seen a fall off in in person attendance at Linton with the Video Stream advancement....especially away games....
  8. My grandparents lived in Owensville. I spent many a weekend down there. my Aunt (Kickapoo Grad) and Uncle have lived there in the same house. I'm old enough to remember the Kickapoos and Twigs... Haubstaut, Cynthiana and Griffin (my Mom's alma mater! Altho I think that's North Posey turf.... amazing that 3 PAC schools are involved in Semi-States...
  9. this looks like a game I might make the trek down to see in person! Nice to see an Owensville mention.... go Kickapoos!
  10. Yes indeed but I moved to Rader Media Sports.... Kevin Rader was my play by play guy the last couple years at WQTY. He and his wife went to the Board at Linton and became the Voice of the Miners... all things video streamed home and away (where allowed)... partners with IHSAATV and HUDL... football, basketball, volleyball, baseball.... So while I hated to leave Media Five ... and radio (this is my 24th year)... I think the future is video streaming...what I fear is that each school is going to have their own Streaming... and won't let the visiting team do it.... it's already happening. And I suppose I understand it.. especially if they are charging. We don't. Rader Media really spotlight the kids in the school. .academic, clubs, fund-raising... they've really done an outstanding job... and give 30% of profit back to school programs. Linton has lost once this year-- Monrovia in D.O.T. played that game without a kicker... now we have one... we would have won that game. But... it's never about 1 play. Monrovia is a tough hard nosed team...much like my Miners. We are the same as always... Gennicks graduating and a great senior class had people thinking it would be a down year... picked up a couple games (western 4A, St. Teresa--defending 2A Illinois state Champs)... but still nothing like playing Reitz, Memorial, Castle etc... We are solid on D, but as always....haven't seen a really good passing offense such as MD always had when we met up... Greencastle this week has a freshman QB with nearly 2500 pass yards 32 TD...so this may be it. We are as always a multi back system... QB runs... soph Oliver 800+ WB's with 700+ and 500+ so...typical Miner numbers. We are sophomore heavy which bodes well for the coming years barring injury. 5-6 seniors this year in starting roles.
  11. It's best to keep mouth shut and let the action on the field do talking... Mater Dei plays a schedule that most 2A schools would suffer some L's.... We, at Linton, definitely understand this. We've had what I'd consider, some very good teams face MD... unfortunately MD was better... I think only 1 year did we really have a game... most the time we got down so quick the game was over. Especially at the Reitz Bowl. Bad memories... Naturally I pull for the Vikings to move on, but it won't surprise me if it doesn't happen. I have mucho respect for the MD program, I wish we could have gotten past them in these past years but damn if we could do it. Still is the goal obviously. But certainly kicking the bear isn't wise!
  12. Cascade is 5-4... but those losses have come to 8-1 Triton Central- unbeaten Indy Lutheran, 7-2 Monrivia (42-35) and last week to 8-1 South Putnam--a game they were poised to win at the end and fumbled a pitch out in the rain. Ill admit the wins aren't really big time (4-4 Beech Grove, 2-6 Edgewood, 2-5 Cloverdale, 3-5 Owen Valley and 3-5 North Putnam). South V's only lose comes to 5-3 Sullivan in DOT 38-35, with quality wins over 6-3 Seeger 37-22 and 6-3 N.Vermillion 40-35 as well as (6-3) Fountain Central. The Wildcats certainly have certainly put up the points this year (45.44/game), but the Cadets have too--(37.0/g)-- and that's considering triton central held them to 13, as did Lutheran, and 17 vs South Putnam. I think it's safe to say the Cadets S.O.S. is much higher than SV has seen... but games aren't played on paper or stats alone. Sagarin has Cascade rated 3rd (54.61) in sectional 37, behind Greencastle and Linton..and virtually neck to neck with the Tigercubs. SV, despite being 8-1 and ranked 6th of 8 as 45.62. Cascade has highest Sagarin SOS in our sectional....(36.3) South V the lowest (22.56). The game is at Cascade as well... And I think the Cadets would be the favorite. A good win by South Vermillion would open some eyes on the Wildcats.
  13. I guess it's because we lost so much.... especially considering Gennicks at QB, and so many 3 year starters. I guess. But there are some good kids coming back... Paul Oliver will move to QB, Christian Shonk was a starter on D at NT/ILB, Russell Goodman led the team as a Freshman at ILB. Jesse Voigtschild a sparkplug as a soph at WB and DB, Ty Boyd at DT and OT. Paul Oliver coming off a stellar frosh year at WR and DE>. Hayden Feltner will have to step up at WR but was solid when he did see action as a sophomore. Ashton White was a force on the defense side of the ball as a junior. Hank Gennicks on both sides of the ball in the trenches. Jacob Breedlove at 6'7 at OT last year.. expect he'll see some defensive time his senior year. Blane Kirkman with a chance to make his mark his senior year. Eli Scott got valuable time starting early in his soph season at WB...will be another one with opportunity as a junior. Several Linemen graduated... who will step up and seize their moment? Wide Receiver/DBack are areas of concern...who steps up? Of course, the QB will be a new face to the position, but both Johns and Cox are gone from the RB slot-- Ahh the joy of football. Someone always steps up in summer workouts, someone always works their way into getting their shot. Let's hope we all stay healthy first and foremost.. The schedule looks a lot different with North Vermillion gone, and long time rival North Daviess gone... annnd the week 9 opponent of 2 years.. South Putnam Gone.. 4A Western will have a haul to Linton in September.... and St Teresa from Decatur Illinois has been a powerhouse.. Phalen in week 9? I think there will be growing pains....but you don't know how kids will respond....
