  1. 58-38-3 Warren... It was 31-13-3 when Dullaghan took over. Dullaghan cut it to 39-29-3 before losing his last two. So, it was 41-29-3 when he retired. You're right. This rivalry has been really good recently. Several games in the last 10 years decided by less than a TD...regardless of which team was the better one.
  2. I don't know. I sure hope not from a broadcast perspective, I dislike the black jerseys.
  3. 1996 🤬 Westfield was a big underdog and nearly pulled off the win too...I know...not really a northern team. I don't know how to quantify it. I'm just looking at what Crown Point has done. They're destroying people they should destroy. I think Coach Buzea is a good football coach. I'm trying to give them credit for what they've done. I don't think folks should think this is going to be 63-14 again. Of course, if I'm wrong, I'd be happy to have you point it out.
  4. Warren Central/Ben Davis is a rivalry game, but you have a point. LC played BD very hard too. Brownsburg or Center Grove could be playing this week. They were both good enough. Cathedral was too. But...they aren't. The other team in that echelon is...Ben Davis. I expect we'll see a competitive game on Saturday. This BD team is really good though at full strength, and they are right now. Crown Point can't let them get in automatic mode like they have been a few times this year...where everything is working.
  5. Ben Davis has an almost completely new coaching staff since the last state run. Pretty much everyone left when Kirschner left or was gone within a couple of years. The only constant is Kevin Vanderbush, and he's been there for all of them. I think Mark Zackery is about the only holdover otherwise. The rest were Simmons or Mann hires (I think). There were some guys who played for Coach Dullaghan on the staff in state games. But, you're right. This is largely a new staff and, obviously, team.
  6. Ben went to kicking camps all summer and was posting about the harsh angle drills he was doing. Paid off for sure. Hats off to the Trojans on a great run. I think it will get harder and harder to do what they've done as the competition continues to get more and more fierce in 6A.
  7. Let's begin the jibber jabber. Giants will go for their 10th State Championship in 12 tries on Saturday, and what a year for the Bulldogs!
  8. Distance wise it was pretty much a PAT, but you wouldn't kick it from that angle. I didn't even realize what a good hold it was until I saw Kyle Neddenriep's video. Then, I think Channel 13 in Indy had a low angle. Pretty remarkable. Skibinski had to almost stand up. The snap was above his helmet it seemed. Rudolph never stopped either. Coach Mann explained that they put the operation under pressure a lot in practice, and it paid off there.
  9. I think it would make sense to put the Semistate at neutral sites or at least come up with more equitable ways to determine who has home field, but I feel like we continue to argue and post about this here every year.
  10. Second time this tourney that the Giants have had a top 4 game in the MaxPreps ratings. (Other one was Brownsburg)
  11. I should also add that Coy and Cherry are truly special players. Center Grove also is extremely versatile on offense. You have to be ready for all they can throw at you.
  12. I was imprecise in my language. You are correct on the locations of the games. "Many" and "Down" were the wrong words. I should have said, "We've seen a few teams from the North punch Central Indiana teams in the mouth." Thank you for calling me out on my heinous crimes and misdemeanors. I will throw a french fry out the window in penalty.
  13. I'm not arguing with you. I bow to your infinite wisdom and knowledge, Mr. Cathedral.
  14. I think Ben Davis is the better team. No disrespect to Center Grove, and it may not end up that way on the scoreboard, but I think BD, on paper, has more in the three phases. Now, Center Grove has plenty of state level experience to make up for all that. You can't beat the run they've been on. They expect to win. I just think that the Giants defense has been playing very good football. They have given up some plays, but they've been solid in the clutch. They've been turning turnovers into points. I also think this is a rare occasion when BD might have the advantage over CG in the kicking game. That's definitely played into things. I have nothing but respect for Center Grove's program and its fans. Our teams have had a lot of battles over the years, and I think this will be another one on Friday night. If the Trojans win, like I said, hat's off to them. They will have beaten one of the best Ben Davis teams in the last 30 years.
  15. many was the wrong word...but Penn a few times. Carroll last year...Snider a few times
  16. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vSzG2aGkgcfTsaj3F43ZayN410HvYnV_Dl64LVgOG58aic_eiu8taErApPltau2WiR9V06dPJIV0d2a/pubhtml Approved broadcasters above. There won't be any free TV broadcasts from here on out that are live at least.
  17. This doesn't strike me as a slam dunk. We've seen many times over the years a good north team come down and slug a Central Indiana team in the mouth. I think that happens for a while in this one. Westfield pulls away in the 4th. Final 28-14 Rocks.
  18. Solid picks and rationale. I flip Ben Davis and Center Grove...you know...the huge homer thing (BD 31, CG 28). As long as one doesn't get completely doors blown off by the other, there's no shame in losing to the other team. If Center Grove beats the Giants, I will tip my cap. BD and CG (and Brownsburg) are some of the best teams we've seen around in a while. It just happens they all have/had the unfortunate luck to play in the same year/same class/same geographic area with each other.
