  1. SWIAC 2017-2018

North Central was considered the worst team in the state last year, losing every game with several teams scoring 100+ on them. Ironically, North Central (Indy) was considered the best, although they lost in the regional. If it weren’t for them being in our conference, we probably would’ve dropped them already. (I’ve stated before that I wouldn’t mind dropping our conference and joining another, or just not being in a conference). We will find out today (GCI draw) if we have to play them twice like last year. Luckily, I think they’re a little better this year. I *think* they were ahead of WRV most of their game, but ended up losing. Could be wrong about that.
  2. SWIAC 2017-2018

    My picks: Friday: Blmfd/CC--Blmfd Linton/BR--Linton Mitchell/WRV--Mitchell NC/ND--ND NK/Shakamak--Shakamak Washington/Eastern--Eastern Saturday: Edgewood/Blmfd--tough one, but I'll go Edgewood Eminence/CC--CC NK/Eastern--Eastern Rivet/ND--ND WC/Shakamak--Shakamak
  3. Linton wins Loogootee Tourney

You're right, of course. Neither Rock Creek or Brown County are very strong. It will be interesting to see how they play against some competitive teams. Regardless, for being only the first and second games, I thought they looked pretty good.
  4. Linton over Rock Creek 76-31 in the early game and 68-45 in the championship over Brown County. I liked what I saw and apparently, many others did also judging by what I saw and heard on social media and the radio. Offense isn’t a problem and defense was actually better than I expected at times, but does still need some work. Very, very deep bench, lots of subbing. I would say 9-11 players who would start anywhere else. Biggest surprise for me was their ‘scrapiness’. Linton’s fans are in for a treat this year.
  5. SWIAC 2017-2018

Probably around noon. I know Loogootee plays the first game at 10:30. Night games start at 6 depending on who wins/loses.
  6. Linton Lady Miner Basketball 2017-2018... and beyond

I’ve been to a couple games so far this year, and I’m impressed. I knew it was coming, but I guess I still thought it would be a work in progress. They are winning right off he bat, beating the Sectional favorite N Knox in overtime their first game. Should be fun to watch this year and the next few, at least.
  7. SWIAC 2017-2018

That is odd jones. As far as I know, Bloomfield’s scrimmages have always been public. I know scouting is not allowed per IHSAA, and films cannot be traded. So I can only deduce that their coach didn’t want Bloomfield fans there. Here at Linton, I think it’s the more people the better. Gets them ready for the real games.
  8. SWIAC 2017-2018

I don’t want to hijack the thread either, but I’ll throw in my opinion on consolidation. WRV people have been manipulated, lied to, there’s no way they’re going to vote for another referendum. Other schools may have the option for a referendum also, but I think it’s just prolonging the inevitable. WRV and Bfield should consolidate asap, with others following suit down the road. We would end up with two high schools. Also, I think it’s ridiculous to be paying all these superintendents. Start whittling those down and you will see significant savings. Ideally, there would be one super for the whole county, but I could see two-one for each school. At any rate, what they are doing now isn’t working, and they need to get the bleeding stopped. Sadly, I’m not sure if they have the right people in there to do that.
  9. Sectional scores

Linton/N Posey tied at 21 in the 3rd.
  10. Sectional scores

Linton tied with N Posey at 7. Linton’s ball with a little under 4 minutes left in the half.
  11. 2A Sectional 40 - who survives?

    Saw this on twitter yesterday.
  12. Prep Hoops freshman showcase.

Pretty sure Lincoln Hale from Linton-Stockton got selected.
  13. Head Coach Openings: 2017-2018

    Providence--Rob Murawski
  14. Should Sectionals be seeded?

I would love seeding, but doubt it happens because of the reason taps mentioned. There would still be upsets, and they would be that much greater (think NCAA tourney). Neutral sites would be great also. I think that has more chance of happening.
  15. SWIAC 2016-2017

That 8th grade team is really, really good. I can't wait to see some of those kids get varsity action. I know they've occasionally been accused of running up the score, but I think some people don't realize how hard it is to keep the score reasonable against a team that just really isn't that good. Miner football also comes to mind here.
