  1. Very interesting. Indiana legislators, take note. Kansas was a solid “red” state in the 2020 elections.
  2. Did the NFL “pull its punches” in [not] producing evidence at the hearing? Seems to me they ended up pretty well off compared to the potential downside. One of their franchise players will be back on the field for 2/3 of the season. And the league came out of it appearing to press for more severe punishment, and with a convenient fall guy in the person of the arbitrator.
  3. Every year as we get past the sectional, people moan and groan about driving distances for the regionals and semistates. Neutral sites can cut those driving distances in half, in addition to providing better venues. It’s disappointing when two really good teams play a high stakes game at a subpar facility.
  4. From the IHSAA 2021-22 Fall Bulletin: Balls – Sectional – Each school is encouraged to use an official Wilson football (models 1003 GST, 1001 or 1005 with the NFHS authenticating mark). Regionals & Semi-States– Schools must use an official Wilson football as described above. The IHSAA will supply two (2) Wilson 1003 GST footballs. If either team desires to use another official Wilson ball (1001 or 1005 with the NFHS authenticating mark), they may do so, provided they furnish the ball. The IHSAA will supply all game balls at Lucas Oil Stadium. State Finals - IHSAA will provide all game balls. No school footballs will be used during State Finals games.
  5. The rules provide: “Each team shall provide at least one legal ball to the referee at the time the game officials assume authority for the contest. Only legal balls approved by the referee may be used during the contest. Each team may use any referee-approved ball of its choice to free kick or start a new series of downs.” If both teams show up with non-Wilson balls, we play the game and write it up to the IHSAA. But if one team has Wilson and the other does not, we’re playing with the Wilson footballs. Once a ball is approved by the referee, it becomes a game ball, not a team ball. The team loses any right to determine how and when the ball is used.
  6. $$$$$. Why do you think the IHSAA mandates the use of the Wilson ball in the tournament?
  7. Hopefully, you’ll grow out of it. 🤣😂
  8. Nominating and confirming Justices for vacant seats according to their perceived philosophical bent is vastly different from increasing the number of vacant seats for no reason other than creating a new majority.
  9. The Law of Unintended Consequences strikes again. https://www.outkick.com/big-ten-media-revenue-split-sean-clifford-request/ Expand the conference to negotiate big TV deal? Bound to attract people wanting a slice of the new pie. Empower the players with NIL and the transfer portal? Can’t expect them to sit quietly and watch others make hundreds of millions.
  10. When you say it was presented “to the IHSAA,” I presume you mean the Board, composed of high school administrators, including ADs? How did your proposed plan deal with the seeding issue?
  11. It could be the heartbreak of psoriasis.
  12. So many people missing the point: speculating about what effect this or that seeding will have on the tournament. The chief benefit of seeding is that it gives more meaning to regular season games. The teams are actually playing for a tangible benefit, which makes the regular season better. That’s why you should not only seed the tournament, but seed all the teams in the sectional, not just the top two.
  13. Swarbrick has been widely quoted as saying 3 things could influence ND’s decision on staying independent: 1. loss of a valued broadcast partner 2. Lack of a clear path to the post-season 3. An economic situation so significant that it compels a reconsideration. In the immortal words of (the late) Meat Loaf, “two out of three ain’t bad.”
  14. I guess we now know the price tag associated with independence: $75 million. https://saturdayroad.com/notre-dame-fighting-irish/report-notre-dame-targeting-massive-tv-deal-from-nbc-to-remain-independent/
  15. I am making my way to Gibson Southern for the first time ever on Aug. 1 for a rules clinic. Probably grab a bite to eat in Ft. Branch beforehand. What’s good?
  16. I think this is a great idea. I wouldn’t have a clue how to accomplish it technologically. But if you do it, remember to have an extra card for your observer. 😉
  17. So, if I referred to you as”the southern end of a northbound horse,” could I later say I did not call you a horse’s a$$ because I didn’t use those exact words?
  18. Oh, please. I’d rather argue about your I’ll-chosen use of the passive voice.
  19. I beg to differ. Why would you say that when in 10 sec. I could retrieve your earlier post and show what you actually said. 😉The exact language was “Go back to FB.” If that doesn’t say you’re not welcome on the GID, I don’t know what does.
  20. Call out his posts all you want. But telling him he’s not welcome is another thing entirely.
