  1. I'm not sure how this relates/compares to the Indiana discussion, but in Ohio there are 711 football playing high schools. Exactly one of them has a total enrollment over 3,000 and only 19 more have an enrollment over 2,000.
  2. Has the rule changed over the years regarding penalties on scoring plays? I seem to remember in the past, you had to decline the penalty to keep the points. If you accepted, then the points came off the board. However, recently, I see more situations where the points stay and the penalty is enforced on the kickoff. Can someone explain how all that works and whether it's the same at all levels?
  3. There's actually a video out there that shows the offender giving a quick glance to the side official as he approached the line, but then looking back in so fast that he wouldn't have been able to process anything the official relayed to him.
  4. Should he have been warned? Does the Referee's explanation make sense that he wasn't warned because he was so blatantly offside (linesman couldn't see the ball? While we're at it, I was listening to Rich Eisen, and he was pointing out that the right tackle was not lined up legally.
  5. Watching the OHSAA Division I game (Large School). Replays used for a fumble near the goal line and whether runner was down prior to reaching 1st down. Calls coming from the press box, it appears. Something the IHSAA should look into.
  6. Technical question in the 6A game...in the first quarter Crown Point pooch punted and the ball was downed on one of the NFL hashmarks. Yet the official moved it out to a high school hashmark to start the series. Is that correct?
  7. Regarding the play on the field, I was surprised they went almost 2 1/2 games today without a lost fumble. 5A crew was great, in my lay opinion. The DC people on my side thought a runner may have been brought down by the facemask in the first half, but that was the only thing I saw throughout that game. Thought they handled the skirmish efficiently on the DC sidelines near the end of the game.
  8. What gets discussed when all the officials get together around the 5 yard line after each score? I've seen it in both games. Also, I see a Parker in the 2A crew. Any relation?
  9. The running clock is not used in the finals. But, I'm wondering if that should also be the case for the Semi State (and possibly Regional) round? Thoughts?
  10. Yeah, like in the early 80's. Snider had some guy named Rod. Last name escapes me, though 😁
  11. How would that equate to a "double" forfeit. Wouldn't that just be a PT forfeit? In that case, I think the score would be 1-0. But, they would still play overtime in that case. Someone would still win.
  12. Is home team automatically dark jerseys, or do they get their choice (e.g. the Dallas Cowboys in years past)?
  13. The exact wording on the IHSAA site is "Digital tickets may also be purchased in person at the Lucas Oil Stadium Box Office (without service fees) during business hours (credit card or cash purchases only)." I assume "business hours" includes game day?
  14. So, would this Open tournament replace the regular tournament for those 8 teams, or would be after the regular one? If the former, then those 8 teams potentially only have a 3-week postseason, when the others still have 5 or 6. Also, any idea who would pick the teams? The IHSAA won't even seed the sectionals now, let alone pick the best 8 in the state.
