  1. I don't. My understanding is that the hope is that coming back with hybrid school and athletic practices on the 6th might give athletes an opportunity to get 4 practices in and have some chance for a game on Sept 11. This would be the game against the Brebeuf (or as my kids would say: "the school on 86th street".) If I could only have 1 Guerin football game this year it would be vs LCC. That game was already cancelled... was originally supposed to be this Friday... not sure what happened there. If I could only have 2 Guerin football games this year, #2 would be vs Brebeuf. Everything else (including Chatard and Roncalli) is gravy.
  2. Welp. Guerin Catholic just announced that they are cancelling in person classes and extra curricular events through September 6th due to a number of COVID cases. No game vs Decatur Central. This is 7 days into the school year... I don’t have a good feeling about the football season.
  3. Wow. Don't know how I missed that. My brain must be in a COVID fog. East Central (1-0) at Indianapolis Chatard (1-0) GAME TIME: 7 pm ET, Bishop Chatard. 4. <SARCASM ON> Anybody taking odds on how many of these games will actually be played? Roncalli, New Pal and Heritage Christian didn't play in week 1 due to COVID quarantines. Why is Brebeuf scheduling "cream puff" games? πŸ˜‰ <SARCASM OFF> Assuming that they all get played, these are really tough games all around for the CCC teams in week 2.

  6. I saw the first half of this game and then switched over to Guerin v McCutcheon... what happened Braves? You had the game under control? Both teams looked pretty darn good. Good gritty game. No scoring in the second half... but McCutcheon intercepted with a couple of minutes to go and marched down with a threat to score. Guerin was able to hang on for the W. I don't think McCutcheon is in the same realm as Chatard or Brebeuf, but it was positive to see Guerin running (on offense) and standing tight (on defense) against a comparatively big, physical team. Guerin QB only threw for 56 yards, but there were some really smart, well thrown balls in there at key times. Guerin RB Jagger Albert (first name sounds like a beverage you consumed once-upon-a-time in a college bar and with much regret) is a solid back and was picking up 4 yards per carry running Coach Dilley's favorite plays. I'm there with you brother... just happy to have something to watch on Friday nights. Even when football is bad, it's good. I just hope it lasts.
  7. Guerin beats McCutcheon 14-7. No scoring in the second half.
  8. Guerin leads McCutcheon 14-7 at the half. Guerin looking pretty good... solid on defense and new quarterback has a good arm.
  9. Roncalli vs Southport cancelled, apparently because of player testing positive for COVID. πŸ™
  10. Game summaries are below with information about how to stream the game. I honestly don't know much about any of the teams this year (including my Guerin Golden Eagles) but looking forward to some High School Gridiron... hopefully we'll continue to have games down the stretch in this season. McCutcheon (0-0) at Guerin Catholic (0-0) GAME TIME: 7 pm ET, Guerin. COACHES: Ken Frauhiger, 57-80 in 14th year at McCutcheon. Tom Dilley, 42-24 in 7th year at Guerin, 122-101 in 21st year overall. 11. Wow... I attended Angola back in the late 80s. One of our seasons, we didn't win a single game. And that included games matchups against Fremont and Prairie Heights. It's amazing how you can turn things around in just 30 years. 🀣
  12. Chatard at Guerin Impressive wins over 6A programs for both Chatard and Guerin last week. I have had low expectations for the Guerin/Chatard matchup this year, but we may see a competitive game on Friday night. (i.e. within 1-2 touchdowns). Guerin's defense has so far been solid and they delivered a huge performance against Columbus North. Chatard still looks like the team to beat in 3A however. Chatard locks up the CCC title with a win... Guerin would need to beat the Trojans and also the Rebels at end of season for a share of the title. This should be a fun game... catch the video stream on Indiana SRN or take the drive up to Noblesville and drop $5 for a great matchup. Brebeuf at Roncalli Looks like a down year for Roncalli, but they they may have a chance in this game. The logical choice would be Brebeuf, but I'm going to give Roncalli the home-field edge on this one. HC at CC Heritage Christian looks to be the better team among of the CCC football brethren.
  13. Sorry kids... took the week off from this last week. Here are the game capsules for Week 6: Indianapolis Chatard (4-1) at Guerin Catholic (4-1) GAME TIME: 7:30 pm ET, Guerin. 14. A genuinely impressive Guerin win. It was a good old-fashioned slobber-knocker for most of the game. No scoring in the first half. Guerin defense looked pretty good. I don't think that this is a year where Guerin can knock off Chatard, but hoping for a competitive homecoming game.
  15. I've looked at sectional alignments before, using an approach called the "split line method". The origin of this approach is to come up with a fair way to map out voting districts and prevent gerrymandering. Sectional 28 has been of interest for many years, because it's always filled with 3 or 4 teams that could be state finalists. In the past when I've looked at Sectional 28, it has actually looked pretty fair. The current alignment is pretty close, but there is one questionable pair of teams. Using the Split Line method: Bishop Chatard should have been in Sectional 29 (and in the south). Tri-West Hendricks should have been in Sectional 28 (and in the north). Without getting too in depth into the split line method, the starting point is to draw the shortest line that breaks districts (or in this case football teams) into half. In the state of Indiana, the shortest line you can draw to separate 64 teams in half is a straight line running from the eastern border to the western border. In 3A, that line would run north of Chatard and south of Tri-West Hendricks. Tri-West should be in sectional 28 (and the northern semi-state). Chatard should be in sectional 29 (and the sourthern semi-state). Having said all of that... I'll never forget the outcome of Sectional 28 back in 2016. That was the year that Guerin, Chatard and Brebeuf were all in the same sectional and were considered 3 of the top 5 or 6 teams in the state. Guerin drew Tri-West and Brebeuf drew Chatard and many people were talking about how crazy that was. In the end: Tri-West went off on Guerin 35-3 in round 1. Chatard beat Brebeuf and Tri-West and then lost to Danville. (Who I think was unranked at the time). Danville lost to Lawrenceburg in the regional... i.e. Sectional 28 ended up having no impact on the state finals situation. But... I think Chatard will have a pretty big impact on the 3A post-season this year.
  16. Neddenriep of the Indy Star picking the following: Chatard 35 - Cathedral 34 Brebeuf Jesuit 17 - Guerin 14 Columbus North 21 - Roncalli 10 Heritage Christian 28 - Eastern Hancock 21 Covenant Christian 20 - Manual 12 Personally, I always enjoy when Neddenriep picks against my team. I think # of Star subscribers that support the team is an input to his formula. πŸ˜‰ Harrell's predictions: Cathedral, 31-30. Brebeuf Jesuit, 28-24 Columbus North, 35-21. Heritage Christian, 35-24. Covenant, 31-17.
  17. Sweet! Will definitely be watching the replay of that one. https://whmbtv40.com/sports/live-sports-video-stream/
  18. Oh... and another thing... It's hard to believe in 2019 that nobody is broadcasting video of the Cathedral / Chatard game. I'm biased, but seems like this should be the IHSAAtv game of the week.
  19. Guerin Catholic (3-0) at Brebeuf Jesuit (2-1) As a Guerin fan, this and the LCC game are the ones that you look forward to every year. I don't know if Brebeuf views this as a rivalry game on the same order as Chatard, but Guerin does. This is a game you REALLY want to win. Harrell is predicting Brebeuf by 4 points. I think this will be a good close game... picking Guerin by 3 points because I'm a homer. πŸ™‚ Indianapolis Chatard (3-0) at Indianapolis Cathedral (2-1) The Trojan smackdown of Roncalli last week was super impressive. Just based upon results, Chatard appears to be the top team in 3A or 4A, maybe as good as New Pal in 5A and a team that probably could be competitive in 6A. Does that sound like any other North side Indy Catholic school? Harrell is predicting Cathedral by 1 point. Going with the Trojans in a close one. Columbus North (1-2) at Indianapolis Roncalli (0-3) The Rebels having a difficult season. Can they get their first win in week 4? Sadly, I think no. Columbus North also lost to Southport this years, but performed much better against the common opponent. Columbus North by a touchdown (maybe 2). And among the CCC Football brethren: Heritage Christian (2-1) at Eastern Hancock (3-0) The Eagles of Heritage Christian put in an impressive defensive performance against Guerin last week. I think they will win a close one against EH. Indianapolis Manual (0-3) at Covenant Christian (1-2) Covenant having a tough year, but should collect another win over an IPS school that struggled mightily against Heritage Christian (L 0-56) and Brown County (L 6-35).
  20. Guerin Catholic (3-0) at Brebeuf Jesuit (2-1) GAME TIME: 7:30 pm ET, Wilhelm Field. COACHES: Tom Dilley, 39-19 in 6th year at Guerin, 119-96 in 20th year overall. 21. Results: Brebeuf Jesuit 40 Indianapolis Ritter 0 Guerin Catholic 23 Heritage Christian 5 Indianapolis Chatard 53 Indianapolis Roncalli 7 Indianapolis Attucks 19 Covenant Christian 7 I thought Chatard was good, but not THIS good. Heritage put up a fight for most of the game against Guerin... ended up being a defensive slugfest. Heritage appears to be an improved team.
  22. This weeks games ranked below, in order of most confident to least confident: Brebeuf Jesuit (1-1) at Indianapolis Ritter (1-1) - Historically this is often a close matchup, but expect Brebeuf to have the edge again this year. Covenant Christian (1-1) at Indianapolis Attucks (1-1) - Covenant coming off of a tough loss to Trader Point. Guerin Catholic (2-0) at Heritage Christian (2-0) - The (way to early in the season) sagarin ratings say that Heritage Christian has a stronger team than Guerin. The CALPREP algorithm predicts a close game... HC by 2 on a neutral field. I think the ratings may be skewed because Central Catholic (Guerin's opponent last week) is significantly better than they were last year. I'm picking the Golden Eagles (Guerin) over the non-golden Eagles (HC) in close game. Indianapolis Roncalli (0-2) at Indianapolis Chatard (2-0) - The game that probably determines the CCC winner comes in week 2 of the season. Chatard in a close one?

  24. Results from Friday Guerin Catholic 50 Lafayette Central Catholic 28 Brebeuf Jesuit 27 Indianapolis Tech 6 Franklin Central 31 Indianapolis Roncalli 19 Indianapolis Chatard 48 NorthWood 21 Heritage Christian 48 Shenandoah 7 Traders Point Christian 38 Covenant Christian 27 I attended the Guerin Catholic vs LCC game, which was a closer game than the score shows. Central Catholic has struggled over the last two years since the departure of coach O'Shea... they looked pretty solid in this matchup. Running game and defense was pretty similar for both teams... the biggest differences were that the Guerin passing game was clicking and LCC had quite a few athletes playing both ways. By the end of the game, it appeared that Guerin was grinding down LCC. Guerin is solid and probably a top 10 team in 3A... but not sure how they will match up against Roncalli and Chatard in CCC play.
