Possible juicy week 4 games not talked about

I've seen some of the obvious big week 4 games talked about like:

Ben Davis @ Center Grove

Warren Central @ Lawrence Central

Ev Reitz @ Ev Central

Jasper @ Heritage Hills

What about some of the games I haven't seen much talked about like:

Brownsburg (2-1) @ Avon (2-1)

Cathedral (0-3) vs Bishop Chatard (1-2) @ U of Indianapolis

Lawrence North (2-1) @ North Central (2-1)

Plainfield (2-1) @ Roncalli (3-0)

East Central (1-2) @ Franklin County (3-0)

Homestead (3-0) @ F.W. Bishop Dwenger (3-0)

Anyone hav any comments on these games?

I think that the Plainfield-Roncalli game will be very close again this year.  Last year Roncalli squeaked by the Quakers 7-0.  Plainfield has most of their skilled offensive players back this year and they have been scoring plenty of points.  The Quaker QB is very good and Anderson is a hoss carrying the ball.  The Rebel D will need to play tough allowing the offense to grind out a victory.

Both Avon and Brownsburg bounced back nicely after their week #2 losses to the MIC both teams are in a similar position as they were when they met last year which turned into a slug fest. I would expect more of the same this year, however Avon will have the atmosphere on its side should be electric especially with the new turf. Despite the fact that Brandon Peters nor Hunter Johnson is playing in this game the communities will still be plenty fired up! They now play for a traveling trophy in all sports named after the B&O (Bulldog & Oriole) trail that connects the two towns. Should be a fun one no doubt!

I agree this certainly has the makings of a great game! Ben Slaton is a very good QB for Plainfield and only a Junior this year. I also agree Dawson Anderson is a hoss. I definitely think this game will boil down to which defense Plainfield or Roncalli plays better. Roncalli certainly has homefield on their side. This game should be one of the better games this Friday that really hasn't been talked about much. Best of luck to your Roncalli Rebels on Friday PCollier.

The Homestead vs Dwenger game up north will be very interesting but either way is likely just deciding second place in the conference between 2 teams in different classes come playoff time.  It is a pseudo unstoppable object meets the immovable force between Homestead O and Dwenger D.  Dwenger D has been susceptible to the passing attack in the past and Homestead can sling it around.  Going to be an interesting game at Zollner Stadium!

I will add a Plug:   West Lafayette vs Crete-Monee out of Illinois.   Very talented and usually D1 filled roster.

WL vs Crete-Monee and Lafayette Jeff vs Harrison will be played at Ross Ade Stadium Saturday!!

Northern Lakes Conference with a few big games these last couple of weeks:

4A -  #7 Plymouth at home against 4A #10 Northridge tomorrow night.

5A -  #3 Concord took down then 4A #1 Northwood by 3 at home last Friday night.

Sectional 19 is shaping up to be one of the better ones in the North in my opinion -

Angola #11 (3-0)

Culver Academies (3-0)

Dekalb (0-3)

East Noble #17 (2-1)

Northridge #10 (3-0)

Northwood #5  (2-1)

Plymouth #7 (3-0)

Wawasee (1-2)

Lots of talent in that program.  Danville High School played them in 2009 and 2010 on their way to the Illinois 6A state semis.  I watched West Lafayette against Tri-West earlier this year, definitely a step up in competition for WL.  I believe Crete-Monee has close to 1,700 students.

I'm glad you added that game on this post Coach Nowlin. I had thought about adding West Lafayette vs Crete-Monee, but I wasn't real familiar with Crete-Monee.

I just looked on Harrell's and it showed that West Lafayette played Crete-Monee last year in Illinois and won 14-13. Should be a spectacular game!

Sectional 19 is definitely looking to be a grinder. Seeing that list of teams I remember when Dekalb was a State Title contender back in the mid 90's!

Down here in the "hill country", I'm interested in the (1A) Eastern Greene @ (2A) Mitchell game.  No it isn't the big boys and it won't be filled with D1 players, but the game itself should be every bit as "juicy".  I've seen some great games throughout all 6 of the classes.  I believe there are many good games in Indiana that never get talked about.  Sometimes it isn't about having D1 recruits or prospects to see a good (or juicy) game.  It's about effort, and competing.  I wonder how many fans on here have attended games that doesn't have the team they support involved?  In other words, go to a game that you don't have a dog in the fight.  I've attended several like that over the years.  Try it once.  You'll be amazed at what you will see without focusing on "your guys".

Carmel at Pike...If Carmel can't move the ball against Pike, they've got real trouble.  If Pike can score some points, they might win this one.  Lots of pressure on the Greyhounds here.

A smaller school game that I am interested in is Churubusco v. Eastside. 2 new additions to 1A this year that are in the same sectional and will be a tough out, if you ask me. Busco is #5 in both polls and Eastside is #8 and #11, with their only loss coming to a tough Woodlan team. Could be a good one.

Everyone in the Hoosier had to find a new game after the Delphi exit, so WL found Crete Monee.  Last year at Crete, and it was an absolute MONSOON during the game, couldn't get any athletes in space for either side, I was fully expecting a shootout.  This year game is at Ross Ade with PU playing Ohio on Friday, WL, Harrison, Jeff took the offer by PU to play on Saturday since they are invading the H.S. market

They don't have to be the bigger classes or have D1 recruits for it to be a juicy game. I just listed a few that intrigued me and I welcome any others that anyone wants to give their thoughts on.

As for attending games without a dog in the fight. I try to do that every Friday. You get to see a lot of different teams and I love it. Especially come play off time. My favorite is hitting rivalry games I have never been to. Some of the best games I have ever watched were the Tri-West vs Speedway games during the Pelley and Haste days. Some fantastic ball games I watched them in!

Being a media member I guess you do get to see a lot of different teams.  In a way, I'm a bit envious.  I grew up in Ohio and high school football is the unofficial state religion there.  Back in the day Speedway had a good program.  In more recent years, they have fallen off the map it seems.  I've watched high school football in several states (a perk of being in the Navy for 20 years).   I have seen several greats play high school ball including Emmitt Smith.  I saw him play his last home game his senior year.  No need to say how his career turned out.  Occasionally I get up to Lucas Oil when they have an extravaganza on a Saturday.  This year I plan on seeing Rensy Central play.  Hopefully get to see Coach Nowlin again and say hi.  Last time I saw him was the 2015 1A State final between Linton and LCC.  I was on the rebound from 6 months of chemo and wasn't in the best of shape.  I've since recovered and look and feel much healthier.  Wherever you are this weekend, enjoy the game!  And if you get the chance, check out a game at Linton some Friday evening.  You won't be disappointed.

I'm looking forward to how the East Central/Franklin County game plays out.  FC has improved every year under Kennedy (they knocked off a very good Lawrenceburg team last year.).  It would be great to see FC once again become a consistent contender in the EIAC.  If its close, I think that FC definitely deserves a Top 10 ranking in 4A.
