What is happening with all the middle school conferences around Fort Wayne? Are they being reestablished with their respective new conferences in the upcoming years?

I don't have any 100% certain details.  My understanding is that Leo Jr-high, And High-School, will play out their ACAC conference this year and next year.  After that they will be playing the new NHC schools starting the 2015 Football season.  As I have stated, this is not 100% certain.  I have no idea what will happen with the middle-schools feeding into Carroll & Homestead?

GM - Is Leo the class of the league? I see the success for Leo starts early on.. Sounds like a good program all-around.

IMHO the "Cub Program" has put Leo Football on the map.  Kids are playing and learning tackle Football in the 4th - 6th grades prior to starting Jr-High.  The Cub coaches are required to run their offense similar to what's used in 7th and 8th grades.  In addition, there currently are and have been multiple "Leo" teams playing Flag Football in the off-season at (the Plex) for roughly 8-10 years.  The current Leo Junior class didn't loose a game from 7th grade thru JV and I think the Sr. Class was similar.  One of those classes not only didn't loose, they also were not scored on.  Last years 7th graders were undefeated and it looks like this years 7th and 8th graders will win out.  I would like to see them get a game or two with some CYO teams or with the Carroll middle schools.  I'm curious to see if this will continue in the new "NHC" conference.

Horse-collar Tackle To Be Penalized in High School Football

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Contact: Bob Colgate

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (February 13, 2009)-- The horse-collar tackle has been added to the list of illegal personal contact fouls in high school football.

This addition to Rule 9-4-3 was one of 10 rules changes approved by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Football Rules Committee at its January 24-25 meeting in Indianapolis. The rules changes were subsequently approved by the NFHS Board of Directors.

Effective with the 2009 season, it will be illegal to grab the inside back or side collar of the runner's shoulder pads or jersey and subsequently pull the runner to the ground. The penalty will be 15 yards from the succeeding spot.

Julian Tackett, assistant commissioner of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association and chair of the NFHS Football Rules Committee, said the committee felt the need to continue to address risk minimization issues for the runner.
