Well we're finally here.

Penn is hosting Valpo - the traditional opener for both teams.  Penn has dominated this series

Saint Joe is at Chesterton - the new look Indians travel to the region to meet the Trojans.  Good opening game for both teams.  St Joe gets to unveil many new pieces.

Marian is hosting Fairfield - the Knights are looking for big year.  Fairfield is looking for firepower from their QB and a couple of big wide receivers.  This could be a high scoring game.

Riley is hosting Boone Grove - Riley opens at home again BG.  The Cats are looking to get off to a good start.

Elkhart Central is at Elkhart Memorial - The battle for the Mangy Lion.  Anything could happen when these two meet.

Mishawaka is at Portage - The Cavemen also travel to the region to unveil this year of Bart Ball.  Cavemen looking for big things in 2014.

Adams is at Northridge - The Eagles travel to Middlebury.  Adams is excited about this season.  Northridge is the team many are picking to win the NLC.

Clay is hosting Merrillville - Clay has the task of hosting the Pirates and their start transfer from Gary West.  Clay is hoping to improve in 2014.  Not a great opening game for the Colonials.

Washington is at Concord - Word is WHS is having numbers issue this season.  The Panthers have some athletes but are they enough to battle the Minutemen?

Ramone Atkins is starting at WR according to the scrimmage and 2 deep.  Interesting move to Merrillville for a QB that was getting some major looks and now he is not even playing the position.

Well, sometimes these kids actually do transfer for non-athletic reasons.

kf always knows that I72 will give us the skinny...don't tell Valpo, but kf looks for a boot pass to the TE on the 1st play on offense...and then run, run, run...

Penn will be Penn - things rarely change.  Valpo has not won many games the past 3 seasons and do no think the fortumes will change.

The New Prairie - Mairan game shaping up week 2 could be a very interesting game

The NIC v NLC has 3 games this week.

Central will beat Memorial

Concord will beat Washington

Northridge should be Adams, but this is the most interesting game of the 3

Err, 3/4.

It's up on the Pick'Ems tab. 40 participants so far. The most ever.

I don't see it on mobile... link?

Marion is good. They have a shot to finish second. Coaches are very confident, and they should be.

It doesn't look like Marian plays Penn this year, so I assume you meant to say they have a shot to end up tied for first -- or is there a particular reason you give them a shot at only second place?

no real surprises last night

Clay staying with Merrillville lifted a few eyebrows

Mishawaka and Penn started off strong with showing against Dunealdn team.  MHS defense needs imrpovement but O looks like it is running

SJ game with Chesterton was an interesting affair on many fronts.  Both defenses looked ahead of the offenses

All in all week 1 in the books
