MIC Sectional Semis

Carmel at Avon:

Two teams with completely differing goals entering the postseason.  Carmel has its sights set on a rematch with Center Grove (though they cannot overlook contests against Brownsburg or BD potentially) while Avon is trying to simply stay competitive here.  Both defenses have gotten better it seems but their starting line was much different.  Gimme Carmel 42-21.

Brownsburg at Pike:

We have once again reached that time of year where Brownsburg gets another opportunity to prove the doubters wrong.  A regular season juggernaut that seems to fizzle in the postseason.  I foresee little trouble with Pike though this one to be closer than many think early on.  Brownsburg 28-7.

Southport at Ben Davis:

BD begins its quest for a third straight sectional title and the Cardinals should provide little resistance.  BD rolls 51-7.

North Central at Lawrence North:

NC is looking to end a season that they would like to forget.  LN has revenge against Warren on their minds.  Like Brownsburg, no one will take the Wildcats seriously until they make noise in the postseason.  They roll here though.  LN wins 34-10.

Warren Central at Lawrence Central:

Two teams that ended the season in complete opposite directions face off tonight on the northeast side.  LC is the most improved team in the conference and Warren may be rusty after so much time off.  I still feel they get it done though it is closer than last time.  Warren wins 27-17.

Center Grove at Franklin Central:

The Trojans once again call their final score here in ending what looks to be a promising future for Franklin Central.  Gimme 48-7 CG.

My predictions are on to low side base on the chance of rain and temperature with the exception of the CG game where they have no need to pass and BD because they are playing an 0-9 Southport.

Carmel 28   Avon  7

Brownsburg 17   Pike 7

Ben Davis 48    Southport 0

Lawrence North 17   North Central 7

Warren 21   Lawrence Central  7

Center Grove 49   Franklin Central 7

Interesting tidbit...

Ben Davis and Southport have played each other off and on since 1937. Southport has always led the series. Tonight, BD can tie the series for the first time. It's currently 28-27-2 Southport. Incidentally, the Giants have won 14 straight and 19 of 20 from the Cards. BD has not lost to Southport since 1980.

Thanks to Jim Pich, Marion County's Football Brain for this one!

Ben Davis: Pick their score   Southport: 0

Carmel: 42        Avon: 28

Brownsburg: 17       Pike: 10

LN: 42        NC: 0

Warren: 28      LC: 24

I really think Avon & Pike will push Carmel & Brownsburg through most of the game. And I honestly would not be shocked to see Pike defeat Brownsburg.

NC has unfortunately cashed it in & they are ready for basketball season. LN rolls.

I think the Warren & LC game could be one of the best games of the night! LC has vastly improved each game they've played this year.

Great call MICFan34!

Thank you for ignoring my Pike/Bburg prediction, even though it was only 21-0 entering the 4th quarter before the wheels fell off for Pike.

But LC has been a fun team to follow the last 4-5 weeks. Led BD at the half, stifled Carmel for 4 quarters (had 3 INTs), and then somehow pulled off a W against a team they lost to by 35 points earlier in the season.

Either way, a new team gets to say they won a sectional for the first time in a while (LN or LC). LC is looking for their first sectional since 2012 and looking for only their 7th sectional title overall. LN is looking for their first sectional since 1990 and looking for only their 4th sectional title overall. That game is going to be an incredible atmosphere.
