Dead Men Walking - Coaches on the way out

Recommended Posts

Larry Fedora - North Carolina.  1-4

UNC is the flagship university in the State of North carolina, and the Tar Heels are the 4th best football program in the state behind Duke, Wake Forest and NC State.  Fedora is toast.  Ugly loss to Georgia Tech this week will make Fedora very uncomfortable when he meets with his admin next week.

Butch Davis - Tennessee   3-2

Georgia manhandled the Vols in front of 105,000 and special guest Peyton manning on Saturday.  I thought I might read in the paper that Davis was fired this morning.  Its all over for this staff in Knoxville.

Ed Orgeron - LSU  3-2

The LSA administration made a monumental mistake when they ran off Les Miles and hired Orgeron.  Tigers lost at home to troy State yesterday.  Ouch!!  Lots of buyers remorse with regards to the Orgeron hiring.  The era of LSU football excellence appears to be over.

Gary Andersen - Oregon State  1-4

Andersen's sudden departure from Wisconsin 3 years ago was shocking.  Maybe this guy is just in over his head.  The Beavers are awful.  And the quick turnaround at Washington State under Mike Leach makes it even tougher on Andersen.  If Wazzu can do it, why cant Oregon State?  Andersen doesn't seem to have the answers.

Bret Bielema - Arkansas   2-2

Bielema's act seems to be wearing thin in Fayetteville.  I wouldnt be surprised to see them make a change if the Hogs don't have a good run in the SEC this season.  The Hogs have not risen to the level that Bielema said they would.

As Rick Grimes said, "We ARE the walking dead!"

***UTEP's HFB Coach resigned this weekend after an 0-5 start.

Very interesting decision.  This is a situation where the coach just wanted out at all costs, a quality of life decision.

He already has 10 million banked.  Why try to milk out another 10mil over the next 3 years and take 15 years off of his life expectancy

He is definitely tainted in terms of coaching again at the D1 level.  Expect to see him on an NFL sideline next year as an asst, unless he is completely burned out.

QTL - Quality Time Left.  No doubt this factored into his decision making.
