Cathedral's Rick Streiff Retiring

Recommended Posts

I have never known a HS Football coach that got in to coaching for money.  Best Wishes to Coach Streiff, those will be some tough shoes to fill.

Judging by the article I would say he is truly done for now. He has stated that he is remaining as a teacher at Cathedral just retiring as a coach.

I agree with the others, not sure what this means.

Actually it is well known that Private/Parochial school teachers and coaches pay less than their Public School counterparts. Most P/P school coaches are teachers with teacher salary and get a coaching stipend. Streiff left Cathedral once before to take over at North Central which was a pay increase. I have also noticed some P/P football coaches also coach another sport, I would assume that is so they can get another stipend for another sport to increase their salary.

Thanks for sharing.  I wasn't sure why the snide comment (or what seemed as one).  I certainly didn't mean it disrespectful.  I asked exactly for the reasons you mentioned.  Sometimes with a resume like Coach's, you want another challenge.  HSE has quite a resource of players and an outstanding feeder system.  Makes you wonder what could happen with Coach Streiff's leadership.

Just a curious question...didn't mean anything negative.  He will always be a  Cathedral man.

I hope you don't feel I made a snide comment. I only posted the article and stated that I think he is done for now and would remain a teacher. The other comments were for the other posts I quoted. If my comment came off as snide I do apologize.

You are correct as usual.  Coaching high school football hasn't made many, if any, rich folks.

Actually, Coach Streiff's last gig coaching, after he left North Central, (before he went back to Cathedral) was coaching the 4th grade team at St. Matthews.

Since there are currently 3 NFL lineman (one a 3...maybe 4 time All-Pro) from the  2004-7 Cadet classes maybe someone needs to reach out to St. Matt's (and yet they NEVER won city during that time....lest you folks misunderstand just how tough CYO football can be).

Actually CYOGuru knows...he's won a couple or so.

Heck no....sorry for my poor communication....your conversation was great and much appreciated.  Wasn't sure how to take the Streiff to CG comment...As you can guess, we love our guy in the Grove.

Yeah I don't see that happening. Even when Coach Moore decides to hang up the whistle (and focus more on watching racing lol). I could see Center Grove possibly hiring within to keep the same system that is deeply rooted all they way down to the Bantam League going. The system he has brought in Wing T, Speed and Strength development has really brought the program to the forefront in the MIC and Indiana.
