Dugger Union “We are planning on joining the IHSAA again”

Recommended Posts

I’m curious to see how this pans out for them given what occurred in a girls’ basketball game involving them a few weeks ago.

Hmm... Not sure how that is going to pan out given the court case against Grace College.  They may be forced to close their doors... Too early to know for sure.

Athletically, they would need to become a solely Dugger team.  I'm not sure they have a sport where a player from another school contributes.  Since they are not IHSAA affiliated... They have been able to dress kids who don't actually attend their school.

Grace College has a 7 year agreement with DUCS... The court decision could void that agreement and bring into question how public funds are used when religious based schools are involved.

So....when will Linton become a “solely Linton team” in basketball, baseball, or you name it?  That’s a pretty rich statement to make!

All the Linton athletes attend Linton school, blame Mitch Daniels for open enrollment if you do not like athletes living in other communities playing at Linton.

Rich? Linton has benefitted from a situation that was not of their doing.  We have some great kids from Dugger... Some have helped our teams... Some are here for other opportunities.  As for solely Linton teams, as soon as they move here they are Miners... Probably why they have felt welcomed.  Nice backhanded comment though.

When Dugger was being closed down, the students were given a choice to attend either North Central or Sullivan.  Here's a news flash:  some of them decided to go to Linton instead and athletes weren't the only ones.  Think I'm making that up?  There was a big article about it in the newspaper.  Linton doesn't have athletes who play on their sports teams and at the same time, attend a different school.  Big difference.
