Vincennes / Jasper

Another chapter on Friday night. Lincoln comes in 7-4 with a nice weekend to win their Holiday Tournament. Jasper comes in 3-4 but have played some very good basketball teams. Throw the records out the window as always for this one. Jasper will be looking for revenge from a buzzer beating loss last year at Alice Arena. Should be a great atmosphere as always.

I am wondering if Kotter will finally be in the lineup tonight for Vincennes. He would be a big help.

Jasper wins 61-49. It was tight through the 1st half, but Lincoln could never get over the hump in the second half. Kotter played but very little and was a non factor. I do think he will be by the end of the season. 

Jasper played very well defensively and was very efficient offensively and took advantage of some poor Lincoln offense. Hopefully the Alices bounce back this weekend.

I'm a week late replying to this but oh well....It's VL/Jasper and I'm still upset about this loss. :73_v:

My thoughts:

First off, Jasper played a great game especially in the 2nd half. They are well disciplined and coached and always defend their home court well. Probably the toughest place to play in the Big 8 IMO. Lincoln has yet to win in the new gym.

With that said, the usual stout Lincoln defense was no where to be seen in the 2nd half. To be frank, it was downright awful. They just could not get a stop and it got worse as the game got late. If VL was a consistently great shooting team, they may have been able to overcome it. But the fact of the matter is they're offense just isn't strong enough to bail them out when they aren't winning other facets of the game. And there is nothing wrong with that. Many good teams rely on defense to spark their offense. I still believe this team's best basketball is ahead of them and they will undoubtedly be a strong contender come sectionals. 

Good luck to Jasper the rest of the way. Sectional 31 won't be the same without the Cat's faithful in the stands, or the always polite and courteous student section. :07_v:
