New Mt. Vernon Coach- Mike Kirschner

Really?

Congrats I knew about 9 days ago what do I win?

The point has always been, LET THE PROCESS PLAY OUT and WE LET THE COACHES/SCHOOLS make the announcements themselves then have at it.

Been that way since the founder of the site.

Think about this.   You are student/Parent at Mount Vernon, on Monday you see on the GID that Kirschner is going to be the HC.  The news grows and grows, but boom, something happens and it doesn't come to fruition on either side.   Then what??

I have seen it happen over the many years I have been involved around here.   Snags at the board level, change of mind, news breaks before coach had a chance to talk to his own team, etc etc.

Nobody on the GID gets a cookie for being "first to report"   we are not in the breaking news business around here.

To piggy back on the "doesn't come to fruition" hypothetical - Imagine is Coach Kirschner doesn't get the job, but the community's expectations are that high - I'm sure the guy who did end up with the job instead would love to be the disappointment of the community. That would be fun!

To further the point.   Literally just last week.  School ABC at the school board meeting, set to hire their new coach, was going to be a HOME RUN IMO.   Something came up, Coach set to get hired had to tell them no because of better opportunity closer to his home with non teaching, but admin attached to it outside of the state.

Can you imagine if that news came out PRIOR to that board meeting???

Things happen in coaching searches on both sides.

On here nobody gets anything special for being "first" to post it.  Truly is a simple concept.

Sometimes it's hard to keep a secret. Knew this one for a bit as well, but it's good to see people still respect the process.

I can't tell you how happy I am for coach and his family. This is an entirely different challenge, and one that Mike will do with the class and humility that he's shown for 18 years as a coach and head coach at BD. You're getting a good one, Mount Vernon.

As far as Ben Davis goes, we will miss his leadership, but, as Queen says, "The Show Must Go ON!" and it will.

All I am saying is that what I said was something in that community already knew, I am not making a bold brand new statement that no one knew.  Seems like every person in Hancock county that follows football knew this.   Heck, I for one was hoping it was not true since we all are in the same conference together.

water coolers and barber shops in town are different then on here where we have a national reach of followers and readers.

Doesn't change our policy/philosophy around here

Clearly, I made a mistake in posting anything at all, my apology to anyone that was offended.

This is great for Mount Vernon. I was hoping for a spot for him in Hamilton County.

With college basketball in full swing... Mount Vernon getting Kirschner is like IUPUI getting a 5-star McDonald's all-american recruit.

All kidding aside...I am sad to see Kirschner go, but I can't blame anyone for wanting a change. He will build a great program at Mount Vernon.

Is this the first time a high profile coach has left a program with the prestige that BD has and gone to a program with not as high a pedigry as MV (not saying anything bad about MV)

First name that came to my mind was Coach Mo. Though he didn’t directly leave BHSS and go to Salem.
