IU-Purdue Recruiting Deadlock

Not sure what his last few choices were, but Justin Britt from WC committed to Iowa.

I have a bad feeling that IU is just getting murdered on the recruiting trail.

That was a big fish to catch. I am just sad he did not stay in state. But historically, the top recruits rarely do.

Iowa and Wisconsin are huge OL destinations for Midwestern OL     Rightfully So!!     Produce many many NFL players over the years.

Iowa has taken 4 kids out of Indiana over the past two recruiting cycles.  They are clearly targeting Indianapolis.  Kelvin Bell is the man making it happen

Very cool story about the two 5 star sons of former Indy Colt tackle Chris Hinton.  Both may wind up at Michigan via  a private school in Georgia.

Can you imagine these two kids growing up and battling each other in the backyards and on the practice field?

The Hinton family is likely lining up for two very big NFL first round contracts in the coming years.

I'm not buying the propaganda.  In my view, IU is treading water, while the other schools in their orbit (Maryland, Purdue, Minnesota, Rutgers) are improving rapidly.  When its all over and done with, IUs class will look the same as it always does.  The "only" sure fire way to move up in the league is to secure more 4 star talent.  Note Purdue's results on the attached recap.  Brohm is getting both quality and quantity.  He is also doing a number on Kentucky and Louisville recruiting due to his ties to the state.

Being a Cubs fan, I get the high level of skepticism. That said, their ranking nationally should be a simple formula, which I think would add some legitimacy to the level of talent coming in.

speaking of heritage of sons of dudes as DT posted that nice article

We were at Team camp at Manchester last week going up against S.B. St. Joe.    We have munchins all over the field for the Bombers, especially compared to the OL at St. Joe,.  Their LT is a DUDE man, 6'4 260 pounds and he locks up with our newly minted LG/DE who as a soph was playing JV running back for me.    Our kid learned a hard lesson of giving up his chest so easily and that LT took him 7 yards down the field and firmly planted him straight to the ground.    It was fun to watch, granted it was our own kid, but the technique was unbelievably flawless

Welp:  Turns out:  His dad, well he is pretty decent at his day job.......

His son, Mark will be playing at Air Force next year.

Purdue has amassed a very good class.  Very few Indiana kids, though...

Probably won't be long before PU announces a stadium expansion to include a deck and 20000 new seats.  :07_v:

Perhaps its more how good the Big 10 is getting at recruiting.  IU was ranked 48th last year, but 10th overall in the conference.  I don't know IU's history, but 48th in the nation recruiting doesn't seem horrible for them.

43rd this year...but 11th in the Big 10.....

I get your point....not great in their conference, but better than some pretty dang good programs....although its not over yet.  But I don't disagree that IU needs to improve in its own conference or the road will be a tough one...especially in the Big 10 East.

There are  five Power 5 Conferences with a total of 66 schools

Big Ten - 14

ACC - 14

SEC - 14

Pac 12 - 12

Big 12 - 10

So IU is ranked 48 out of 66.

Per 247sports, Purdue DE commit George Karlaftis has been upgraded to a 5* recruit. He is now the #9 overall recruit in the country and #1 DE per 247.

Also, Purdue TE commit Kyle Bilodeau has been upgraded to a 4* recruit per 247sports and is now their #11 TE.

WOW!!  5 Star.  Incredibly impressive.  When do they start selling tickets for the opener with Jeff?
