Roman Purcell Transfers To Warren Central

Recommended Posts

And he should sit out next year, like all transfers CLEARLY for athletic reasons, should.

Or maybe Warren Central is a better academic institution then Cathedral?

IHSAA is a joke if he gets to play next year.

I realize he has a bunch of offers, but does he start over Jayden George?

Warren Central offers a better education than Cathedral does. More challenging courses, better athletic opportunities, and the Walker Career Center.

All he has to claim is he can no longer afford the Private school. Private to public and public to private transfers are pretty easy. Public to public is where things get ugly.

but.....but......but......with the vouchers, this shouldn't be a problem.  the cost of tuition at cathedral or any other voucher accepting school.

If Cathedral signs off and WC signs off.   Case closed.   Nothing to see here.

Public to private/parochial is not easy, at least not down here in Evansville....

Ha. Tell that to Eron Gordon and family. The IHSAA is a JOKE. There was a Cathedral poster on here (who I'm almost positive was Purcell's dad; can't remember the screen name) who all but assured Purcell was transferring to Warren Central in the middle of the playoffs because Cathedral wasn't showcasing his talent. This is as blatant as an athletic transfer as can be and a precedent has been set that the IHSAA can step in and rule even with both schools signing off. (see NC and Cathedral signing off on Gordon and the IHSAA ruling him ineligible anyway)

edit: IrishNightmare was the poster. We should see a WarriorNightmare here soon.

Spot on.  No difference than Erin Gordon.  His Mom is an executive and they can afford the tuition so that excuse falls off.

This would be amazing.  Let's open those books and see what everyone is actually paying.  How much of that tuition money goes to the tailgates?  How much of that tailgate money goes to "tuition?"

Not sure she was joking. Can a person leave Cathedral with a Cosmotoligy license?

I wish Purcell the best at WC.  He wasn't the QB that was advertised by any means, but then he was only a soph.  He had difficulty catching the football and I hope he can overcome that problem.

Cathedral will have junior Orin Edwards at QB next year I believe, but of course that's up to Coach Peebles.

Purcell will NOT be spending a year of probation, imho.  He will be declared eligible immediately.

Not if the IHSAA chooses to investigate.  See the example of Eron Gordon above.  IHSAA has final approval, not the schools.  It just takes someone in the right office to notice.

Couldn’t his older brother help w tuition if he felt called to do so?  I thought I heard someplace he makes a nice living.

Don't forget though that Gordon went on record in the Indy Star essentially telling everyone the reason for his transfer too.  Hard for the IHSAA to ignore that...

I wasn't joking. Students can transfer if they can afford it. Indiana allows it. I was explaining how Warren Central High School offers better academics than some high schools do. He will get his chance at quarterback at the start of the season, maybe?

Cathedral students have the option to attend J. Everett Light, just like Roncalli students can attend Central 9.  I don't know why they would, 99.5% of graduates of both schools attend a four year college.

Not sure about J. Everett Light or Central 9, but other career centers offer classes in engineering, computer science, biomedicine, nursing, broadcasting, and business. They aren't just auto body and cosmetology.

Lol funny. Cosmitoligy was only one example. Warren offers many other programs that are benifical to youth people. I am not saying it's not true but I find it hard to believe that 99.5 percent of both Cathedral and Roncalli student are accepted to 4 year colleges.

It's been over twenty years, but I had 156 kids in my graduating class.  153 went to a four year college the following year.  College graduation rates were not nearly as high.

I actually just found Roncalli's latest numbers:

Graduate Placement for 2017

4-year college: 93.6%

2-year college:  3.6%

Military:  0.4%

The rest go to work.
