Stewart had a principal that was willing to shield coaches from the micromanaging that has plagued the corp.  He recently passed.

This is true. Kim Lobsiger was a GREAT man. RIP.

Jim Peters, from the nwitimes, is reporting James Broyles is the next hfb coach at kv.

The hiring of Mr. Broyles will end up being a pretty good hire under the circumstances. James Broyles might be the best lineman ever to come out of KV as he parlayed his talents into becoming an NFL player. He is a local kid that did well outside the community and has come back to raise his children. He is a massive man. I am 6'4 and back when I was healthy I remember buying a drink at Family Express after coaching a little league game and he absolutely shadowed me behind him.

KV had some pretty good teams in the 90s under Shaun McDowell and Broyles was a big part of that. His name as well as Andy Spenner are likely still at the top of the weight lifting charts in the E building locker rooms. Those guys were legends for their workouts and I hope coach Broyles will coax that intensity out of the players.

This is a relatively safe hire for KV, and I think Broyles will be given a bit more latitude to achieve success because of his ties and relationship to the community and his status as a former pro athlete doesn't hurt either.

Hopefully he can rebuild the program and start utilizing talent the way the girls programs have done

Sounds encouraging.  Would love to see KV get some mojo and become a factor in the NCC.  If they could get some of those big farm boys away from the computer games and on the gridiron, success will follow.

We had it starting in 2012. Kids were buying in. Parents were buying in. Mr. Lobsiger “chose” to retire after the 14-15 school year. Then the 2015 fb year came along and here we are.

Computer games isn’t the problem. They put their jobs above everything football and use it as an excuse more times than not.

Heck. Brad and I even made multiple lifting/conditioning times throughout the summer to accommodate the players and still struggled mightily to get the kids in. We were trying to hold them accountable. Can’t say that was universal.

Hope this helps Driven T.

Signed

A Dolt
