things look to be shaping up really good again for the Winter Boilermakers!!  Biggie correctly coming back, sounds like even in better shape.  New addition of Carson Edwards is turning some heads in summer pick up games, hopefully a healthy Spike Albrecht can give a good boost and PJ can keep improving.  Really want Vince Edwards to just play mad all the time, when he does he is electric.   Also I think Basil Smotherman will have an impact year as well with lots of energy.   Those are my way early Boilermaker thoughts

I think we will see a lineup like this..

G Albrecht/Thompson

G Mathias

F Edwards

F Swanigan

C Haas

The question will be depth behind Haas. We know his tendency for foul trouble. When that happens does Taylor come in or do they move Swanigan to C and Edwards to PF with Smotherman and/or Cline coming in? I think more than likely it'll be the latter. Either way, they are going to have to get some good minutes from Taylor who hasn't had much time. Hopefully Carson Edwards comes as advertised as well. Should be a team in the top 5 of the BIG.

agree with the rotation outlined by you.   Its gonna go like this:  First 8 minutes we must live with Biggie dropping bombs, hopefully at at least 35% or better clip this time around, then when Haas goes out, we will get to watch Biggie actually do what he does best and dominated low post play.  :55:

Can't wait for the season, especially the early home game against the defending national champs.

I'm very interested to see what identity the team takes this season. When Haas is in the game, you can dump it down to him and let him do what he does best: finish and draw fouls. However, when he is out and Biggie is at the 5, I think this team can really run and shoot, similar to IU's look from last year.

With that, I'm fearful of an identity crisis on offense. It's an interesting dynamic with Haas. He is so big and talented that you have to play through him when he's in the game. However, the team might be better to play a faster pace this season. Haas's greatest contribution may be early in the game to wear down the other team's bigs/draw fouls, and then late in the game to salt away a victory at the line. I think he will sit during close games late in the 2nd half.

Momentum is picking up!!   Gonna talk to the misses and see if she will allow me to spring for that "villinova" package we have to buy 3 games for......JUICY matchup

Got that Nova package yesterday.  3 games, $200 bucks, love it.  Nova game single ticket price from PU was $60 so this was a no brainer.  Had to take on the Feb 14 Rutgers game and also choice of Northwestern, Iowa, Minnesota games, I went with B10 opener on Xmas break of Iowa.

Captains selected makes you believe that PJ gets the nod at PG and based on his performance from scrimmage last weekend, I look to a more aggressive PJ and PG/SG in generally with Hammons in the NBA.

Be interesting to see how much Painter will have to reel in Carson Edwards, sounds like he is shot out of cannon type of player, but he can score the ball

Big Game for the Boilers Gaurds Wednesday vs L'ville's tempo and aggressive press.    Excited to see how much we've improved in this area

L'ville is such a bear to play. I thought the Boilers showed a lot of grit to come back at the end. Was happy with our guard play against the press, but we were sloppy in the half court. Cline is back in the flow and was glad to see him get more minutes. Need Vince to figure his crap out. Frustrating fellow to watch.

yea man, first half we just looked petrified to be in that arena vs that team for whatever reason.  They were bashful after the first 4 minutes when jumper after jumper clanked off the rim.  Haas was no show, again, vs length and athletic big, which will continue to be his bugaboo.  When we didn't hit shot panic sat in and nobody wanted to be the next guy to miss a shot.   Painter said as much after the game too, called out their mental toughness, turnovers, and basically if you read between the lines called out VE as well.   I bad is it when he has to sit VE from a huge stretch in the 2nd half, which coincided with our run to come back.

yum yum center is tough place no doubt and turning into our house of horrors when you add the debacle vs Cincy in tournament 2 years ago

In all seriousness though, I think it was beneficial of the NCAA to push back the withdrawal date of the NBA Draft. It still isn't perfect but I think Swanigan has had a great benefit from it.

BIG game tonight!  Will be interestng to see early how the game will be officiated.  Biggie has largely been able to stay out of foul trouble, but East Lansing presents new and interesting challenges.  Nick Ward leads the country in fouls drawn at like 9.6 per game, and I bet there are at least bigs on the MSU bench who have played nearly no minutes this season get time tonight. We need to hit 10+ 3s as well.

GO BOILERS

Yea MSU is a wounded dog right now, which makes them VERY scary.  I worry about containing PG on Pick And roll action with our bigs.   Whistles of course, but at least now last month or so we have split up the BIGS in the starting lineup.

Also we tend to shoot better when we play on the BTN rather than the Mothership.  Anyone else notice that?  BTW ... Tonight is on ESPN2

Disappointing weekend for Boilers.   Though Basil not playing much, still a distraction when he gets bounced, or "mutual" parting of ways.

Not being able to finish at the rim was equally disappointing and thought Nebraska played more hungry at pivotal points in the game
