Scores Week 9

Edgewood 46 Brown County 6 (final)

Edgewood notches their 2nd win of the season. Brown County's football program is really in the dumps right now and someone needs to take the bull by the horns there and try to straighten it out.

Westfield 28

Franklin Central 19

Rock were down 12-0 late in the first half, but a touchdown before halftime made it 12-7.  Westfield was pretty much in control the rest of the way. They scored less than a minute into the second half on a long TD pass to make it 14-12.  Another long TD pass made it 21-12. FC did score to close it to 21-19, but Westfield promptly threw another bomb to make it 28-19. Rocks tried a late field goal but missed, thus the final score. FC hurt by four turnovers.

Next week a bye, then the Rocks once again will travel the 5 miles down 31 to play at Carmel in the opening game of their sectional.

FC physically controlled the game for the first quarter & a half. But then the clearly-superior Westfield staff made smart adjustments to put their players in position to win. Westfield's three 2nd half TD passes were beautifully designed plays & executed to perfection-- TE sideline out & up for 81 yards, seam pattern using mismatch of best WR on OLB for 46 yards, wheel to RB with play action misdirection for 60 yards. None of those passes traveled more than 10-15 yards downfield & those receivers were WIDE OPEN.  Gilbert & his staff coached circles around West.

This was also Coach Gilbert's 100th win at Westfield.
