Bloomington South 42 Evansville North 21 (final)

EN's huge o-line gave South some trouble in the first half, but halftime adjustments allowed South to pretty much dominate the 2nd half, giving up just the one score on that 87-yard pass play in the 4th after the Panthers pretty much had the game in hand. South travels to Decatur Central for the semi-state game.

Westfield 24

HSE 21

Heck of a game, back and forth. Unfortunately one of Westfield's better defensive players suffered a serious leg injury with just 17 seconds to go in the first half. He had to be taken off in an ambulance. Play was suspended for almost a half an hour. In fact, the two teams agreed to just run the last 17 seconds off of the clock and go to their locker rooms.

The HSE QB also was injured in the first half. Could not tell, but possibly a shoulder injury. I don't believe that he ever reentered the game. That was a tough break for them. Twice HSE went on 4th and short in Westfield territory. Both times they came up just inches short. The last time was with less than two minutes to play. Westfield was able to get a first down and run out the clock.

All that remains is to see who the Rocks opponent will be next week.

Mishawaka 15, Snider 13 with 8 minutes to go.

Snider getting some decent drives but no points to show for it. Mishawaka's ground game going nowhere, killing Snider through the air.

Mishawaka QB has thrown for over 50% of his regular season total during this game I believe.

Mishawaka: 18

Snider: 16

Under 1 minute left in the game.

On one hand I want to say Mishawaka deserved the win tonight, but both teams played their hearts out.

For Snider, thank God that was the first and only game they'll play on natural turf. That ending makes up for the ending last year against Valpo...........unfortunately at the expense of a well deserving Mishawaka team and their fans.

Same as last year..heckuva game..

Snider played a bad half last year, played a great second half last year. Snider moved ball between the 20 tonight but couldn't get the TD's. I think they played better game last year. Passing D got burned.

Merrillville 24 - Valpo 20, 2 minutes to go, if Merrillville wins at Snider next week, if Valpo wins at Valpo next week

As much as Snider wants another crack at Valpo, I think we'd all prefer the home game.

Don't know if WLFI Friday Night Frenzy was on site for the end of LCC game or if the MaxPreps highlights will have it, but hit of the night in the LCC/LaVille game comes courtesy of LCC punter Ray Clayton.  In waning moments of the game, Clayton punts a ball that goes stright up into in the air and maybe 10-15 yards past LOS.  Ball hits the ground and rolls back toward LOS eventually getting back to LOS in what appears like it's going to be a net zero punt.  LaVille player sees an opportunity to grab the ball and perhaps run it back for a last-minute LaVille score with just the punter between him and the TD.  Clayton squares up and absolutely drops the kid with a decleater which resulted in an injury time out.  Probably a metaphor for LCC defensive importance tonight.

It was a heads up play by the LaVille player, but yeah he did get rocked.  CC’s defense was just so fast.   LV was able to establish the run early but after the first 3-4 possessions of the game, it felt LV wasn’t going to score.
