Brett St Germain resigns at Lake Central

Recommended Posts

Lake Central Head Coach Brett St Germain has resigned. There has seemed to have been a lot of pressure on BSG lately. Any thoughts on who might apply? Would any head coach/assistant coach from Indy Metro decide to apply for this job? Lake Central has 3225 students, (now) great facilities, solid athletes, and a good amount of wealth.

On paper it seems like a really good job. I'm just not sure the community buy in is there. Baseball and Soccer (recent State Titles in both) are very big in the Tri-Town area.

Would any of these guys look at LC as a place to go and build a power?

Darrin Fisher: Whiteland
Brad Timmons: Center Grove (assistant)
Jake Gilbert: Westfield
Mark Bless: Avon
Tim Bless: Columbus North
Bart Curtis: Mishawaka
Jeff Cain: Whiting
Nate Andrews: Northwood
Kurt Tippmann: FW Snider

I don't think you will see Darrin Fisher leave Whiteland, Jake Gilbert leave Westfield, Mark Bless leave Avon, or Tim Bless leave Columbus North for Lake Central.

No way on Curtis. Highly doubt Tippman or Andrews

Yea those  coaches all listed are so well secured at their current locations that it would be hard pressed to see them change of scenery.

Just remember to let the process play out and leave rumors to the water coolers :17:

This has the potential to be a terrific job, and LC is one of the very few schools in the North that has the potential to regularly challenge Penn for dominance. Great facilities, huge student body, still a growing community. All they need is the right guy.

Plus their cost of living, i.e. mortgage, would be substantially higher in The Region vs. Central Indiana. Curious to see which way Lake Central goes. One would think they would consider Phil Mason, though I would hate to see him leave Michigan City. Maybe lure Buzea or Wells from Homewood-Flossmoor.

That would be saucy......since they passed on his dad a few years back.

Seriously? That's very surprising. I'm assuming after he left Warren. Maybe they were concerned he would bolt for Indy in a few years, which is what happened at Huntley. I think Nick Hart has to be one of the hottest names out there; however, I've just assumed he was waiting on something in metro Indy or a top tier SIAC job.

Wells or Buzea? They left Indiana over $$. Don't see them coming back.

Yep. Think it was before he took over reitz. I want to say early 2000s.

Like that thought.

This article gives a lot of good info, like how Kirk Kennedy applied for the LC job and they hired Scott Freckelton instead. John Hart applied for the LC job in 2005, but they hired Kevin Foster of Coshocton County, Ohio instead, and he turned out to be a rapist, and instead of hiring Hart, they hired Bill Melby. St Germain did pretty well in terms of record at LC, building the program around David Yancey and Gelen Robinson, but he only won 1 sectional in 7 years at the helm. Hopefully LC hires a big school winner.
