2017 Westfield 7 on 7 July 22nd

Recommended Posts

Westfield Middle School will host a 7 on 7 event on Saturday July 19th starting at 9 am.  This will be held at WHS Riverview Health Stadium, our soccer fields, and football practice field.

7th grade teams, and 8th grade teams are invited.  We try to keep 7th grade playing 7th grade and 8th vs. 8th grade but sometimes we mix grades as well.

Players will need helmet, shoulder pads, & a mouth piece.  We want this to be a positive experience for everyone so coaches are welcome to be on the field.

Contact me for more info

1.  Helmet / mouth guard – We ask that all participants wear a helmet and mouth guard during play.
2. Cleats / Shoes – Players should wear cleats during play.
3. Extra Socks – Below you will see how worn out these players are going to be. Extra socks would be a good thing.

Canopy / Chairs – If you have a team canopy that would be great, also parents should bring chairs as there are several fields going with no bleachers.
5. Water / Food – Concessions are provided but you are welcome to bring your own stuff.

6. Sunscreen-strongly encouraged
7. Gate/fee– There will be no gate fee for this event but donations from spectators are welcome.  Team fee is $40.00.

TBA-Last year we went from 9am-12:30pm.

We will try to run games for 20-25 minutes with a quick 5-10 minute break.  Some teams might have a bye/ 30 minute break but would never have 2 breaks in a row.

We will have a punter challenge and tire flipping contest as well.

Game Play and Scoring:

Teams: May consist of as many players as desired so long as they fit in the grade requirement for that age/grade division

Offense: 6 players allowed on field with standard high school rules applying. Offensive team can be in any formation so long as offense has 2 men on line. Center may be used to snap but offensive team must supply a button pusher on cradle.

Defense: 7 players allowed on field in any defensive scheme. No rushing of any kind. Runner is down with touching of any part of the body.

Contact: There will be no contact of any kind with exception of bump and run or redirects. At the official’s option, penalties, warnings, or ejections may be placed on those offenders. We are here for instructional purposes as well as competition, but must avoid injuries at all costs.

Extra pt.
5 yard line

Extra pt.
10 yard line
No advancement/Dead Ball but the drive will reset.

A tip is considered a knockdown

Ball in Play:

·     25 minute running clock per game.

·     Ball starts on 35 yard line.

·     QB’s have 4 seconds to throw ball or play will be ruled a “sack.”

·     1 player must be in running back position and between tackles and at least 4 yards off the line of scrimmage.

·     Offense has 3 downs to get 1st Down, which is inside the 20 yard line.

·     After 1st down, Offense has 4 downs to score.

·     In event Offense doesn't score possession changes teams.

·      A last drive/ 2 minute warning will all be announced.

·     Interference penalty is +5 yards & down over or automatic first down.

·     Game cannot end on a Defensive penalty.

·     Interference penalty is +5 yards & down over or automatic first down.

·     Holding, face guarding, blocking or will be automatic 10 yard penalty.

·     Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. Offenders will be warned, penalized, or ejected from that game. If bad enough players may be ejected for remainder of tournament.

Officials are Volunteers if a call is made and both coaches agree the call may be overturned. Please remember this is not the super bowl, it is instructional and the most important play in football is the next one. Coaches are allowed on the field but must not interfere with play.

We had 6 7th grade teams and 6 8th grade teams last year.  We all played each other for 20 minutes with 10 minute breaks.  Depending on how many teams sign up you could play anywhere between 4-8 games.

Thank you. I'm certainly interested in bringing a team or two.. just have to coordinate it all.
