LCC - Chatard Open Week 5

Recommended Posts

So, Lafayette CC and Chatard are both looking for games week 5 according to John Harrell's sight.  Both are replacing legendary coaches.

Why not play each other?

Any thoughts?

Interesting.  Not sure what it would do, if anything, to the Guerin rivalry matchup ... also to the potential injury issue.  Chatard in the middle of that mix, right after starting HC play, would be something to think about.  May be the only option.  A bye week that week doesn't really buy LCC anything although Chatard may find getting a bye that week beneficial coming off back-to-back-to-back games against 6A Lawrence Central, 5A Roncalli,  and 5A Cathedral.

I haven't looked at the schedule but assume Week 5 is the week that opened when Ritter dropped Chatard off the schedule - which is unfortunate for both.

Foxbat don't use the injury line. WL and Guerin are both bigger schools than Chatard.

Yeah, but Chatard seems to hurt a lot more folks ... they are like the Tommy DeVito of Goodfellas. :)

LCC needs to get a coach first, I would assume that would help facilitate potential filling in schedule

I had a dream that Gibson Southern dropped non-conference county "rival" Princeton on week 5 to play one of these teams...then I woke up!! ?  I can only dream.

LCC is learning all about those "private school" advantages during this hiring process.

A prospective game for the ages.  A battle.

Much like the Antarctic game (thank God) just a couple years past for the blue....and it was for the blue.

We could make it a traveling double header.  GS vs Chatard and Princeton vs. LCC.

This "rivalry" is going to get better now that the head coaches are family.

No it won't.  Given they are the last school left we have played every season since GS opened, but you won't find a football loyalist any place in Fort Branch, Haubstadt or Owensville that wants to continue playing them.  It has just been a waste of a non-conference opportunity now for years and years. Listen, I'm a realist...we will never drop them...it is what it is I guess.

Hope I didn't come off like an @ss.....I mean since we are stuck with them, no one wants them to improve more than we do.  Perhaps they have a guy in place now who can run with the progress coach Schenk made.  And to your point, I am sure the media will hype the brother-in-law thing up....but it might quickly lose its luster after a 40+ point thrashing.

Nope, I didn't interpret you being an @ss. I understand because I would like to see changes to our schedule as well. I don't want to hijack this thread anymore so I'll leave it at that.

Maybe I'll start a new thread...

I am sure most folks here would love to see an LCC vs. Chatard matchup!

(sorry for the thread hijack)

I really expected these two to play, but John harrell's site now says LCC is playing Arlington Week 5. Who will BC pick up?

At least one open question has been answered.

I'm not sure that bothers me quite as much since Chatard in recent years has generally tried to schedule teams in the regular season starting with those 3A conference/Catholic teams but generally has focused more recently on those teams in and out out State from 4A through 6A in size and has only made exceptions for Archdiocesan Scecina (who discontinued the series after 2010) and 2A (now 3A) Ritter who has regretfully just cancelled the series (per their Coach's directive as I am lead to believe.....though I am quite open to correction...and would welcome a knowledgeable correction...and am awaiting it......hopefully....I want to be wrong about this.....please, tell me I am wrong....please....since it took so long to get this series back on the books.....I'm begging here.....tell me this series wasn't cancelled because of.....ohhh...well).

No doubt an LCC/Chatard game would be welcomed by many (and undoubtedly LCC plays WELL above class) BUT I'd be a LOT more excited about an LCC game if they joined the Circle City Conference.  Otherwise, if I were the AD, it would be a push to schedule that game.  I'd be looking for an Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky 5A/6A equivalent school if I can't get that game in state.

Honest to God, I'd love to see an annual regular season game against GS (really would love that game annually), Reitz, Mater Dei, Castle or Heritage Hills in SW Indiana.  I really like the recent East Central (I really like this game....thanks Roncalli) game Chatard plays in Southeast Indiana since EC seems to generally be the king in the southeast part of the state.  NE Indiana appears to be off limits these days due to the SAC schedule of those teams.

Being relocated to Illinois for the last 13 years, the high school in town I live in would be an interesting matchup for the Trojans.  Morris Community High School falls generally falls in the 5A class here, which is just above the mid point in classes, and have a tough image, though it seems to have lost a little off their edge.  The schools both have the same expectation for hard nosed, hard hitting play, and expect to win certain games simply because they are who they are.

Though I doubt this dream would ever come true, it would be a great thing to see for me.

According to Chatard's athletics website, they have picked up St. Francis DeSales out of Ohio for their week 5 opponent.

DeSales is a program with great tradition, and is roughly the same size as Chatard. Played in 8-9 state finals over the years. Haven't been quite as good in the recent past as they were in the 80s & 90s, but a formidable opponent.

Thanks for the update. Anyone know if this game will be home or away? The BCHS website doesn't specify
