2 Former CG Trojans on Watch Lists - Nagurski & Mackey Awards

Recommended Posts

Very cool to see college seniors that are former CG Trojans and Indiana HS players on season award watch lists.

Army OLB Alex Aukerman is on the Nagurski Award watch list for college football's defensive player of the year.  Minnesota TE Nate Wozniak is on the Mackey Award watch list for top TE.  Wozniak is now listed as 6'10" 275lbs.  Great for them and great for Indiana high school football.  I love to see former Indiana high school players on these lists.  Earlier I pointed out Soph Miami Redhawk C Danny Godlevske (former Bishop Chatard Trojan) on the Rimington Award watch list.  Danny is one of 4 sophs to make the watch list.

It's impressive how much talent gets produced by a school the size of CG. Region schools with similar demographics, Crown Point and Lake Central, should take note. I was really hoping Wozniak would end up at Purdue. Is Swann on the two deeps at Stanford?

Sorry....I missed this question a long time back.  Jovan was on the 2 deep this season as a RS frosh.  He started in the PAC 12 championship game for the Cardinal.

His former CG DT teammate, Cameron Tidd (also a RS frosh) was in the rotation this season for Vandy.

Aukerman had another great season for Army...and it's not over.

Nice win for Army in the big game against Navy.  Aukerman had 10 tackles.  Army is playing for a 10 win season if they can get a victory in their bowl game.  Great career Auk!!

Former Center Grove standout Alex Aukerman named to the All Independent football first team.  Way to go Auk!  Army vs. San Diego State this Saturday in the Armed Forces Bowl.  A victory would give the Black Knights a 10 win season to go along with their Commander in Chief trophy.

I played for Coach Monken at Concordia River Forest back in 1996. He was our OL coach. Good man. Helped me as a QB understand all facets of the entire offensive option scheme. He and Coach Britton taught me a lot about football. Man was I blessed!

nice article about Alex Aukerman's 4th quarter interception for Army in their close victory of San Diego State in the Armed Forces Bowl

Also, a nice article in the Daily Journal today about former CG great Jovan Swann ending his redshirt season for Stanford against TCU in the Alamo Bowl tonight.  Jovan, a redshirt frosh, got his first start for the Cardinal in the PAC 12 Championship game
