  1. I like it but I personally think it would be better if the success factor took four years into account instead of just two. I think we have seen small public schools get penalized for having a rare crop of great talent, having a great run, then getting bumped. This has been across the board in other sports. I think 4 years gives a better idea of the consistency of a program and its need to be bumped up or not.

  2. No you can't. You just ignore examples you don't like. I just told you what caused the Ice Age to end and how it is not related to current warming and you put the blindfold on.

  4. Good point. And I'm sure the lawyers for an Archdiocese would jump at a chance to work on something other than defending the Church from sexual abuse claims....................

  5. Richer? As Dann indicated, isn't this parents using THEIR tax dollars to send THEIR child to the school of THEIR choice? It's no different than with open enrollment a parent decides to transfer their child from New Haven to Homestead. It's THEIR tax dollars going the school of THEIR choice.

  10. The scientific research indicating that the cause of the current warming is human activity, and that it is not just cyclical warming, is well established. It is disappointing when people imply that Al Gore or other "celebrities" who talk about this issue came up with the evidence themselves. The concern over human-caused global warming is a concern driven by climate scientist. Research establishing human "fingerprints" on current climate change.

  13. In all seriousness. I miss the Indiana Catholics. Tough parents, tough kids, that just happen to like a good time. In the greater "God Rapids" area, I really think that Religion and the fear surrounding it makes kids afraid to throw all in and be passionate about something. We have trouble ever getting our full secondary or set of skill guys at a 7 on 7 because our kids go on multiple mission trips (or lets be honest mission tourism trips) during the summer. If they don't go, their going to hell, or at least that is what they are led to believe. We just have a bunch of nice kids that are scared of ever getting too excited about something for fear of getting their wrists slapped. I teach at a medium sized public school but we are basically a christian school without the bible class. I can't really describe it, but somehow the "vibe" between the two states seems to be very different to me. Pretty sure if Lowell or West Lafayette tried to be the "Devils" up here parents would move their kids out of district in mass numbers. A fellow Assistant coach on our staff put it best "If one of our kids somehow wandered into a hot piece of a$$, they would have to have their mom blow on it first" 😂 I'm not saying you need "bad" kids to be good, but I sure would take some right about now!

  17. Just tracking the movement in 2A for fun. 6 teams leaving 2A North (2018 Sag Rating): Oak Hill (46.41), Madison Grant (25.75), River Forest (11.28), Gary Roosevelt (7.83), Taylor (1.32), Lake Station (0.00) 7 teams leaving 2A South (2018 Sag Rating): Southridge (53.14), Milan (38.28), Knightstown (36.99), Perry Central (30.26), Cloverdale (22.09), Indianapolis Washington (12.74), Park Tudor (6.92) 13 Schools Coming into 2A (2018 Sag Rating): 1. Pioneer 85.47 2. FW Bishop Luers 73.22 3. Andrean 71.11 4. Monrovia 51.87 5. Blackford 51.67 6. LaVille 50.4 7. Southmont 45.03 8. Eastside 42.21 9. South Vermillion 30.71 10. Wheeler 29.72 11. Seeger 20.08 12. Howe 16.45 13. Fairfield 6.57 2A is losing none of the top 10 Sagarin ratings from last season and only 2 of the top 25. The top 3 Sagarin ratings coming in would all be in the top 5 of the class based on last season and all 3 of those would figure to end up in the north part of the state. I bolded the 8 incoming schools you would assume will end up in the north half of the state which means at least 2 of the returning 2A schools will probably shift from north to south since only 6 of the schools leaving went north. The bottom line is that the northern route to state figures to get much, much tougher at least based on the very recent history of programs. Of course, things can change quite a bit year-to-year so who knows.

  20. Oh the memories of debating/arguing over the multiplier on the older iterations of the GID. Those were the days. That said expect legal action, probably by the parochial/Catholic schools, if this should ever pass and be implemented by the IHSAA.

  21. Two different crimes, with different sentencing guidelines. That said, I agree that current state and federal laws regarding marijuana, and other current illegal substances for that matter, should be repealed. Government has no business telling an adult individual what they can or cannot put into their body.

  26. Yes, I did. And I still do. If you disagree with my recent moderation decisions then by all means please lodge those concerns with the upper GID management, you know who they are. If they deem my recent actions to be out of line they may discipline me, possibly even removing my current moderation abilities. And you never responded to my two scenarios regarding censorship. Interesting.
