  1. I'm not a huge fan of the running clock. The rule that makes the biggest difference IMO is the 6 quarter rule. Up until this year, schools like New Pal couldn't really sub until the 4th quarter otherwise they wouldn't be able to field a JV team. Now in games like last night, 56-0 at halftime, the starters didn't play at all in the 2nd half and younger kids got more playing time.

  2. Just a personal note and relaying the thoughts of other admins, moderators, staff, boosters, and contributors... Thank you very much for making Week 1 of the 2019 football season a success on the forum for supporters of the Indiana HS football community. The server crash was unfortunate. Lessons were learned. Thankfully @DK_Barons @77Jimmie were able to provide us with a platform to discuss and connect on a message board. Mayor @Coach Nowlin and @Irishman and others greatly have stepped up and taken some of the weight off of other staff. @crimsonace1 keeps us in-line and is a voice of reason @WCGrad92and @sr1 are others with multiple jobs teaching and involved at schools but still make contributions to TGD. @DaveMosbey and @Miner_Pride's consistency is unmatched on TGD and is only rivaled by John Harrell and @Rudy, and a few others across the state. Even @Muda69 and @DT thank you for the banter. @Mrs Gridirondigestshared a message with the administrators saying how happy that Coach Adams' legacy and love for INHSFB lives on. @dawgieinthepound turned corporate, doubt he can find his way back to Casketville. I'm still working and living in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (8 time zones ahead of most of you). In June, my father visited for 10 days and I married my fiancee ... You can send me a personal FB invitation https://www.facebook.com/Chrstopher.Johannes or follow my professional work as a journalist in the Middle East for three years now at https://www.facebook.com/cmjohannes812 I plan to allocate more time to TGD: getting the Predictor Tool back up, rebuilding our http://Twitter.com/gridirondigest to more than 10,000 followers by the end of the season, and contributing more on threads. Again thank you all and anyone we left out like top contributers this week @gonzoron @Impartial_Observer and @Impartial_Observer. Any @Bobref sitings or have @SoIndRef and IO taken that load? PS: We need more northern representation on the board. If you are interested in becoming a referee, send The Sheriff, Nowlin, me and any other staff your interest...

  3. Athletes all over the field on those two teams, both run a rabbit pace up tempo style on both sides of spread zone/midlines/air raid Both extremely well coached, but man the pace of those two teams play at consistently is more the issue of the shootout score. Fun to be a part of course I am an offensive guy!!! Coach Cronk and Roseman will have fun telling that games story

  4. I would have liked to see a year w/ 6 quarters prior to mercy rule as well. Mercy rule good: It limits chances (snaps) for injury to starters in a blowout. It also allows the JV kids to run a true offense. Out of bounds, incomplete passes, etc. don’t stop the clock, so you aren’t forced to run a kid straight up the middle for 3 plays and punt. Bad: I would have preferred 42 at half/35 4th.

  5. agreed, don't care for it. I think the move to 6 quarters should have been done first.

  6. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again.... if youre good enough to run up the score that fast and early you are good enough to have those seniors rotate in throughout the game. There is absolutely no reason that a powerhouse team cannot play their 2s/3s earlier on in the game if they are that much better. If a team has a blowout going and they have one of their top guys get a cramp or something they usually just put in the depth guy anyways. Happened last night for Gibson Southern. Teams who say they need the clock to play their guys in blowouts are the ones doing a disservice to their players and the program. Not the IHSAA.

  8. Of all the results, I think this one might have shocked me the most. Either Fishers is better or NC laid an egg last night.

  9. Gonna go out on a limb here: no one cares about contraction. Why? Because it simply will not happen. People seem to be more up in arms about end zone cameras...

  10. Is the mercy rule good for HS football? In the 2015 state championship game, New Pal scored 35 unanswered points against Snider in about a quarter and a half. What really bothers me about this rule is that good football programs...........I'm not talking about the wannabes who run up scores in an effort to gain respect......................but actual programs who use the second half to to give playing time to seniors who aren't starters, and underclassmen who need reps to get better. This rule is an absolute disservice to good football programs. Congrats to the wannabes for causing the IHSAA create this idiotic rule.

  12. Not sure about 2 but 1 shouldnt have been due to being kicked out of the last IHSAA game he played in. But even missing 2 or 3 or 4 its surprising to get shut down by a less than average THS team. Unless they have made drastic strides from previous years. And the Courier article said they got 4 personal fouls so.... Pretty bad start to the SIAC all around. Only 3 winners.

  13. Side note, Mooresville has a monster O line and a nice size QB. look for them to be the team to beat in the Midstate

  15. It already stops at scores. It's a good rule.

  16. well, you nailed the score! just not the winner . . .

  17. Twice the amount of snaps in the second half for the younger players without the mercy rule.

  18. I don’t mind it, but I think the team being shown mercy needs to lose its time outs so they can’t stop the clock.

  19. It's actually a really good rule.

  23. Has this thread confused you? We are talking high scoring games. Not scores in the 30’s. Haha you beat me to it, best part about this is the 69!!! 😂😂😂

  24. As a Chatard alum, and one who has been relocated out of state for 15 years now, this comes with a large grain of salt, but I think it is fair the say whichever 3A school wins Sectional 28, should be the favorite to hoist the hardware at the Oil Can Thanksgiving weekend.

  26. I’ll miss @Fkfootball after they play East this year. I always enjoy his opinion on this thread.

  27. Isn't part of the reason that the charter school was opened because they wanted to keep the identity of the school and community alive? I'd say that might factor into any "contraction" talk. For those new to the forum, Driven T does this stuff. He'll come on, post something controversial, and then skedattle. He's good at it. It's what he does.

  32. Especially considering Reitz won on the final play with a 2-point conversion. By the way, it was actually 61-60. Then Reitz won state two weeks later. One of the four or five times since 2004 I thought a state title slipped through our grasp.

  36. Floyd is better than the NA team that almost beat East last year. I know East is better. We won’t beat them but I doubt it will be that embarrassing. If it is, I’ll never post on this board again.

  38. I think Dugger's 9-12 enrollment is upwards of 150 but I'm not sure. The school itself is doing fine. And their girls sports are competitive with the smaller schools around here. One of the problems they're facing with football is, for the past few years there have been several kids who, a generation ago would have played for Dugger,; now they're strapping on red helmets with a white block letter "L" on the side...

  39. Please start a single thread addressing this topic. You're on every thread in this forum asking the same question over and over again. It's a little annoying to say the least.

  42. Sooo you want me to go “back” to the PAC thread to discuss Evansville Centrals team? As if I’m only allowed to be in the PAC threads....and as if you are getting pretty uncomfortable that someone is pointing out that you, as a grown man, lack the decency to not publicly put down high school kids....so I can’t be around. Gotcha man. Guess it’s too much to ask you to grow up and be a civil adult. You keep talking trash about 16,17, 18 year old boys though. I’m sure that’s a good look among your friends
