  3. Had a great time yesterday watching two very good teams play on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in a great facility. For those of you who missed it, Cleveland (OH) St. Ignatius defeated Wilmette (IL) Loyola Academy 27-10 at Ames Field in Michigan City. Both teams are highly rated in their respective states with both expecting big seasons this year. Loyola brought a nice crowd and the Ignatius band performed at halftime. As I watched the game it reminded me of my hope that someday Indiana will go to Saturday semi-states at great sites like Ames Field instead of cold Friday nights standing four deep in the end zone in an undersized home field. Do not know who set this game up, but hope they do it again because a chance to see nationally relevant teams play within a couple of hours of home can't be beat. Not only that, but the wife got in some shopping while I was at the game and we topped the day off with a great meal at a Polish restaurant in Michigan City.

  4. These people don’t like facts or statistics.

  5. Weeks one and two games should come out next week. Week 3 Washington...week 4 to remain Southport. Southridge also in the mix at some point....I have no idea what week...maybe the same historical week but I don't know.

  6. I say, 41-14 Memorial

  7. Talking with coaches and officials in other states that have this, it's a pain. I'm guessing that's why they didn't implement it here. You could end up going back and forth with clock status and everyone gets confused. The advice I've heard from them is if at all possible once you go to the running clock stay with the running clock.

  8. I think most people were under the impression that central Reitz and others would improve in the SIAC. Seems to me now that only Memorial North and MD have taken those steps. Also...don’t sweet talk us into believing Memorial’s offense is just as sharp as last year lol....not even Chatard or West Lafayette could slow you guys down last year. Last years WL team had 3 of the best defensive players in the state I believe too, headlined by both Karlaftis brothers. I will eat crow about Memorial’s defense being better this year though. I said it wouldn’t be and all signs say I’m wrong

  9. Not hearing much on the Big 8 threads from the Jasper fans. Cant imagine the possibility of being 0-3 is setting to well with this fan base. In coming from the fan base I come from we would not except the excuse of new coach new system and I dont think the Jasper traditonalists except that either. With that said. Boonville 35 Jasper14.

  10. North, Reitz and Castle, were hard to choose from. Reitz and Castle will determine who will break the tie this Friday. North, on the other hand, will have troubles against Memorial's defense and offense. I really like what Coach P is doing with North at the moment, even though its his 2nd year, he has the ability to make North a special team.

  11. Exactly, but we have the 2019 mentality... well you know where that’s going. I 100% agree that the mercy rule hurts kids from getting varsity reps and preparing them for next year or later on down the road. I full heartedly agree with your post.

  12. The mercy rule put us in a weird spot on Friday night. We are up 36-0 at the half. We wanted to play as many kids as possible, but with the running clock it just wasn't possible. After the game, we heard some players were upset because they didn't get into the game. Some parents were upset because their kid didn't get into the game. We try our best as coaches, but it's a lot harder than you think to get everyone on your team into a game. We have a young program and we need to get our varsity players as many reps as possible. It is a balancing act that I think a lot of teams are trying juggle at this point in the season. We finished the game 42-0 and played all but a handful of our players. With a normal running clock we could have played everyone and they could have received some meaningful varsity reps. It's a weird change, but I guess the players, coaches, and families will all have to adjust this season.

  13. Warriors by 10. NC played much better in week 2 but still lack the run/pass balance to have a good offense.

  14. Looks like it’s going to be a very good season for the Irish! Anytime you go on the road to Cincy and win, much less a shutout, then it’s a great win! 5A is going to be fun to watch come playoff time!

  15. Absolutely!! And I would absolutely echo those sentiments about Coach Gaddis and the Olympians. As hopefully would everyone associated with the Dragons.

  16. Holy s#it the f@cking mackerel! North Knox pounds Eastern 65-0! NK 568 total yards, 10 touchdowns; EG 47 yards total offense.

  17. That's the thing people seem to miss with the injuries. Sure, Stevens is really good but it's the line that makes them special. Most 1A and 2A schools don't have 8 linemen like that. I only dressed 7 linemen last night. I kept telling my kids this week it doesn't matter who the running back is, if you don't get penetration up front I could run wild on you. I probably could too in 5 yards bursts.

  18. Yea I was confused as well when i saw the score. I figure they sending a big "hold my beer" message to West Lafayette and Lafayette Jeff.

  19. I wont get into running the table and everything but I like our lineman. Our passing game has taken leaps since last year. No we cant replace bobby the player but our backs combined (Mason, Pate, Mcpheeters along with WR on sweeps) can replace the production. Our passing game is good enough to keep defenses honest and that'll help the backs and we can play probably 8 lineman. I do agree next week will tell us alot but I did hear Mitchell lost Pritchett against Valley after the 1st TD (thier best player)

  21. That's what happens when you have vindictive school board members. Eastern Greene fans can expect this type of score just about every game this season. I feel for the kids and the fans. The program was on the rise after years of frustration and now because of a few egos, it's back in the dark ages again.

  22. Well the school board ran a good guy out and now they have what they wanted. Good job Eastern Greene school board

  23. To me the easy fix (that shouldn’t have to wait until next year) if a team goes go by 35+ run the clock and if a team cuts it to under 35 start stopping it again. That way the 2/100 that is possible can still happen.

  24. Valpo is too low. Their D is too good to keep them out of the top 10.

  25. After what I saw last night they could have had Carson Steele or Man of Steel... New Pal was the better team. 2 great programs, but New Pal has been the better team 2 years in a row.

  26. I believe the IHSAA is open to tweaking the Mercy Rule based on experience. They have now asked every crew chief to fill out an online form for every game in which the Mercy Rule is utilized. They’ll collate these data and see how it’s working.

  27. Snider vs New Pal in the State Title game a few years ago.. I believe New Pal was down by like 35 and came back to take the lead and Snider won the game.

  28. I don’t think the mercy rule should be in effect until the 4th quarter or a a higher point deferential. We went into a game on Friday up 36 so the mercy rule in effect entire second half (good for our team) but the other team did have a good effort to try to make a comeback and possibly could have had this rule not been in place.

  29. Really? I mean he won the general election by less than 78,000 votes in 3 states and lost the popular vote. He doesn't have a 9/11 to ride him into re election like Bush did. Hes arguably the least popular incumbent since Carter as well.

  30. Seems like a few of you on here are obsessed with up/down votes. I’m glad my ego doesn’t require such affirmation that I’m liked. You, Troj and Howard should probably consider getting a life.

  33. Here's some more.......Lol......If the MSM picks this up, the snowflakes will lose their collective minds...... https://twitchy.com/samj-3930/2019/08/29/still-the-master-trumps-2020-website-error-page-perhaps-the-most-gut-busting-troll-of-hillary-yet-cue-unhinged-lefties/?fbclid=IwAR0gMdW_0RaPsdXx4RNw_snYFP3dYr1hHp5DcWt6Pjbvc6xT3c7H7SnV8MQ Only in 2019 would the President of the United States have perhaps one of if not THE strongest troll games around. Oh sure, there have been PLENTY of times we wish he’d just lose his phone or think before he tweets, but every once in a while we see something like this and we can’t help but offer up a fist-bump or two. Because this here is pretty damn funny. Oops! ‘You’re looking for something that doesn’t exist.’ BAHAHAHAHAHAHA And true story, President Hillary does NOT exist and never will.
