  1. We tested them, but decided against it because the crew couldn't carry all 4 of them at once.

  2. Tell that to the Kiser kid who is playing at ND now.

  3. Generally if a team drops back so far they wouldn't be competitive in the class above them, they likely aren't going to contend for a championship at their current level. Especially at anything below 5A there isn't a huge difference from the top of 1 class to the top of another class. It also depends entirely on the sectional they are assigned. The same team could win the sectional of the class above them but struggle to win their sectional just based on the other teams in their region. I think the success factor has been largely successful in mixing up the teams in each class and isn't public/private specific.

  4. He’s a great athlete, but your defense is the real deal. I respect all the HHC teams. I’ll cheer for all the other teams come playoff time. We all want to see the HHC get stronger. Even the East fans want that.

  5. Really proud of how our kids have handled adversity. Losing our two top players Week 1 for the season (Caleb Murphy & Bobby Stevens), playing without a couple of other leaders in different games and losing for the season a big man (Michael Leach) early in the game against Valley. To come into our toughest test and make some mistakes early that put us behind and fight back to score after getting the ball with only 57 seconds left in the first half and then start the second half with a score and then a stop was a great testament to our players. The only thing I can complain about is the damn heat. Come on fall. We have two many two way warriors to keep battling these temps.

  6. I was fortunate enough to play on some of Benton Centrals best teams from ‘00-‘04. I know I’m not alone when I say the memories I made with my teammates will stick with me for the rest of my life. We all get caught up in the “my team is better” hoopla, but we are all here for ONE reason... The love of this game! May the best teams win come Thanksgiving weekend, and this years players make the memories that we all have.

  7. We don’t have a digital down marker either. We do have the guy who used to manage the Radio Shack holding it though. Close.

  9. I really believe Justun Sharp is going to change things at Jennings County. They haven't had a coach ever come in with his attitude. Jerry Bland and Scott Buening are probably their best coaches in the last 25-30 years but even they weren't as invested at the youth level and trying to drive up interest in prospective players.

  10. If you can cut it that finely at game speed, I congratulate you, and encourage you to go to IHSAA.org to learn how to become an official.🤣😂

  11. I mistyped 9 weeks and couldn’t edit. My point was that because of the conference schedule it’s impossible for the algorithm to rate teams until playoffs. And because of the SAC schedule taking up the entire regular season there is no way for the teams to be ranked until the playoff run. That said, it’s not the fault of Sagarin. Neither is the algorithm faulty, computers stupid (or similar description), etc. Any algorithm is going to require “connections”. In playing a completely internalized regular season schedule (which is fine) by definition you effectively don’t participate in the analysis/algorithm My point is and was don’t whine about a system not ranking your team that can’t possibly analyze/evaluate your teams at this point because of the decision your team(s) made by their scheduling to effectively not participate in said analysis/algorithm UNTIL the post season.

  12. Wish in one hand, sh_t in the other. See which one fills up faster. Noblesville would finish somewhere between 6-8 in the SAC.

  14. I had the same thought about Kelly. Sometimes a guy can get you so far, but you need another guy to take you to the next level. See, Doug Collins coaching the Bulls with Jordan. But, I’m not sure at all that he’s the limiting factor. It may be time to accept that the Irish will never be in a position to compete year in and year out with the Clemsons, Alabamas, or Georgias of football. The reason: they simply can’t get enough of the difference-making athletes. I hate making excuses, and that’s not what this is. It’s more of an explanation, because this limitation is self-inflicted. The University has made a choice. Notre Dame is one of the hardest schools in the country to get into, rejecting more than 80% of the applications. They have decided that they’ll only go so far in relaxing admission standards, and no further. And that handicap simply cannot be overcome, except by catching lightning in a bottle once in a great while. Hope is not a plan. But they are also handicapped in a different way. Without a conference affiliation - and the conference championship game that comes with it - they have to run the table to have a chance. Under present circumstances, a 1 loss Irish team will never get a chance to play for the big prize. The combination of playing a pretty difficult schedule and having no margin for error is a killer. For these reasons, I doubt I’ll see another Irish National Championship in my lifetime, unless something changes. The only issue I have with that is that I believe the Athletic Dept., and the University governance as well, is not committed to competing at the highest level. Instead, they are into maximizing all possible revenue streams. Again, this is a self-inflicted wound. The $$ the football program brings in ($72 million in profit annually) does so much good for the rest of the University, that it’s hard to criticize that ... unless you are of the opinion that competing at the next level will necessarily generate even more revenue. Bottom line: Until the Irish remove these built-in barriers, i don’t expect to see them climb the mountain and get to the top again. If their decision is that they will not compromise the University’s admission standards to win, I’m fine with that. Believe it or not, Our Lady’s University is about lots more than football.

  15. And after little ol' 2A's North Knox and Linton both beat Boonville... Side note, nice to see the Warriors back on the winning track! Us oldtimers remember the days when North Knox was a football powerhouse!

  16. I too was in favor of a 4 year as opposed to a 2 year cycle. Gives a program time to "get up to speed" so to speak... We all know who the programs are who consistently play above their class (and it isn't just the privates and parochials, in case anyone was wondering)

  17. The good crews would probably make this same call with the same observation as this crew. Other crews would probably not fully understand the rule. There is judgement involved in many plays. As Bobref pointed out this could have been ruled an unsportsmanlike conduct and the period not extended if they didn't feel the WC players on the field had an influence on the result. If that's their judgement they aren't wrong. Wiser minds can make either argument. But this crew obviously understood this rule and have proven over and over again they are prepared for this type of play. I trust whatever decision they make in this case. Just because a fan doesn't agree with a call doesn't mean they aren't consistency. Unless you fully understand the rules and philosophies which takes years of study and experience many things won't seem consistent. They are actually much more consistent than you realize. We have a wide variety of experience of ability of officials in HS so you will never have full consistency from crew to crew or game to game. They definitely aren't making a decision based on who they want to win. They are basing it on the facts they know and observed at the time. If you think otherwise you do not understand the role of an official.

  18. Not a single 1a or 2a school beats Homestead, Snider, Dwenger or Carroll. Those ratings are bad

  19. I’d have to see it to be sure, but the mental picture I have based on your description is absolutely illegal. The snap must be a smooth continuous action in which the ball leaves the snapper’s hands immediately. If the snapper is holding the ball on his butt for the FB to take it, then the ball is not leaving his hands immediately. Illegal snap. 5 yd. dead ball foul.

  20. Since you brought it up, I’ll put in my 2 cents. The elephant that no one wants to talk about is it was put in for parochial/private schools that were dominating year after year. The converse has happened where you are penalizing public schools for having a “good run” and a good program. Sure, we’ve had back to back State appreances, but our Stud QB decided football wasn’t worth it. A school we play, Linton, would have been playing in LOS last year if not for the success factor. The IHSSA is taking that opportunity away from those kids...they only get ONE chance to do this and because a class or 2 has success before them, they don’t get that chance. I think it’s wrong and cowardly by the IHSSA...they just won’t call a spade a spade

  22. I happen to know the Referee on that game. That crew is a multiple state championship crew, widely acknowledged to be among the best in the state. You’ll probably see them in the Oil Can on Thanksgiving weekend. Until proven otherwise, I’m satisfied to go with their judgment.

  23. I think they got it right. Tough way to lose but it was a live ball foul. Heck you had almost half the bench plus several coaches on the field right near the play.

  24. I said when it started it should be a 4 year not 2 year cycle. 1 good class could give you an aberration that gives you enough points to move up. Then that class graduates and you've got no chance in a larger class for 2 years. The point is to equal the playing field for programs that prove the consistently play above their class

  25. I have a lot of respect for South Adams. Pound for pound one of the best teams in the state this year. But the 1A school wouldn't have a morsel of a chance against 6A Homestead.

  26. What rankings? There are rankings?

  27. Let me get this logic straight. Fact 1: 10 high school playing schools out of roughly 320 in Indiana have organized themselves in such a fashion that they ONLY play each other for the first 8 weeks of the season. They do not play any other teams in the State of Indiana......PERIOD. In other words, for the first 8 weeks of the football season these schools might as well be playing all of their games in Zimbabwe. Fact 2: A computer program is developed to compare and contrast teams in a given geographic area and predict just where those teams stand in relation with one another. Said program or some form of it is used throughout the country as a means to rank teams in multiple sports nationally at every level of play. The basis of the program is making connections between teams as they play one another and extending those connections throughout all the various hundreds of teams throughout the State. Fact 3: Certain persons from said teams think the rating system is “dumb”, “stooopid” or something along those lines because it cannot properly rank their relative standing among the other 310 teams in the State because they refuse to play ANY OF THE OTHER 320 teams.
