  1. Now if they could just develop technology to figure out how to seed a sectional, we'd be all set.

  2. A lot going on here. Condensed version is it sounds like Shelbyville would forfeit the conference game, and scheduled a game with North Decatur under the impression NP had another game lined up.. They do not. If New Pal cannot find a Week 7 opponent, Shelbyville will be at New Pal on October 4.

  3. Death row for GC and Shelbyville.. Shelbyville was granted clemency.

  4. I would like to just bring this back to the point of this guy thinks south Adams is worth mentioning but not cg. I bet the cg marching band would pitch a shutout against south Adams.

  5. Maybe not, but it seems like a good place to start.

  6. Post on forum says anderson prep cancelled rest of season. Indy Shortridge is week 8 opponent. Maybe WW can get them now?

  7. If we can count on the IHSAA for anything, it is to make exceptions to their rules for the benefit of certain members or partners.

  8. Not saying you're at all wrong but I don't understand how that can happen to a conference game. Shelbyville should probably be kicked out of the league for stuff like that.

  9. Center Grove in the Top 15 is debatable given their strength of schedule. But with a 1-4 record, I'm certainly not going to crucify someone for not including them in their Top 15. South Adams on the other hand? They are 5-0. They could run the table and make a claim that they are the best team in the state of Indiana regardless of class. And no one can argue against that because it will never be decided on the football field. Then the Center Grove marching band could pitch a shutout against over 200 other other teams as well.

  10. I do as well. East offense has to get off to a good start and defense has to control the run.

  11. You threw out numbers that can easily be skewed.. I can look at the 2004-2005 team and Stevie Brown was by far the best player on that team, but had much lower #’s because everyone went away from him. Again, we can agree to disagree

  12. Tyler Settle is by far the best defensive player East has. East D is still very good. It’s a plug in and go when someone goes down. It’s always significant when a kid is hurt because nobody wants to see it. This East D is good enough to win a sectional at the 6A level. Parker Harrison (which I believe will play) was a pre season all state defensive player as well.

  14. I do think Floyd is much improved and have some great athletes. The problem in the past has been the O-Line not opening holes and giving the QB enough pass protection.

  15. Shortridge NV over Attica. NV has a definite leader on this team and he has some good NCOs keeping this TEAM going in the right direction. I haven't seen a group that works this good together. Undersized, no speed freaks. Picking fights with Giants and riding Bulls. Hearts on fire for football. It's good to be a #fightingfalcon. I swear to Donnie Baker it is. PH FC Covington

  16. Pains me to do it but I think you guys have a great team and probably were the better team even in defeat a few weeks ago. Outside a blown coverage on 3rd and 22 that resulted in an 88 yard TD pass and then another long run late to seal the game (2 plays accounted for more than half of Cathedral's output for the game), you guys dominated the LOS despite being outweighed 40-50 lbs a man. Was the only time this year I've seen Cathedral struggle to move the ball and that's with playing X and Elder on the road where the Irish moved the ball at will.

  18. No. But you are basically the message board police here. If anyone says something, you immediately fact check everything. You aren’t on the field. Stop throwing Yellow Flags. Opinions don’t always require facts. It’s all circumstancial.

  21. I don't think roster size is always the best indication. It's no secret that there is more participation in a P/P setting, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything in terms of talent or depth. Avon may have 2 less kids than Chatard but Avon has 4x the enrollment. The bigger the school, the more the competition there is and subsequently less available playing time and that leads to fewer participation. I have no doubt that schools like Avon, Warren, Carmel, etc could field 2 very competitive varsity teams if they so wanted to.

  23. Calpreps says Linton 31 North Daviess 10. Do with that what you will. Calpreps also says Parke Heritage 31 Linton 24, so I would say their method of predicting scores is pretty accurate.

  27. Walmart's Entry Into Health Care Could be Hugely Disruptive in All the Best Ways: https://reason.com/2019/09/23/walmarts-entry-into-health-care-could-be-hugely-disruptive-in-all-the-best-ways/ The part about paying out-of-pocket for basic care is huge. IMHO the current medical insurance model regarding the coverage of basic care is broken. Who here has an automobile insurance policy that covers oil changes, tire rotations, brake service, etc.?

  29. How will any venue be able to enforce this rule when people offsite fly drones over the field? I'm sure if a person is on the school's campus this rule could be enforced. But how can they enforce this when people are off campus? Shotguns maybe? 😉

  32. New Palestine is without a doubt the top of 5A until somebody knocks them off. They are the defending 5A State Champions and look just as good this year. Watching both New Pal and Cathedral's offenses they are both very explosive and I would say both among the top in the State. Both have speed in the passing game, both have speed in the run game. I personally think while New Pal has speed in the running game, they also have power in the running game Spegal is a load to bring down and has terrific speed in the open field. Both also have very good Offensive lines. With the way both teams are playing and if they both stay healthy it should make for a great Regional. That is of course both need to get out of Sectionals as nothing is a given. Cathedral still has Decatur Central in their Sectional. Going into the season I thought New Pal's sectional looked to be rather easy depending on how good Whiteland was, but now it looks as though Franklin has emerged to be a solid team. I don't think Franklin can knock off New Pal but they certainly look much improved. Best of luck to both Cathedral and New Pal. They both have terrific coaches Ralph and Peebles.

  33. You are trying to defend a 1 - 4 football team. 1 win...... 4 losses. Even the coaches in this week’s IFCA poll agree. Not a single vote from any of the coaches.

  34. IMO, we will learn more about GS than HH this Friday. This was an even matchup a year ago in the sectional semis. We know both teams are fundamentally sound, won’t beat themselves. But if GS is truly above the rest like Memorial was the past two seasons, they should win going away. Not a knock on HH at all, but a rather a testament to GS expectations.

  36. Well, since Floyd is about to play Columbus East, and BNL in a few weeks, and there are a lot of fans from both teams on here, I thought I would go ahead and make a mid-season scouting report for Floyd Central, just for fun. So opposing fans know who to look for. No predictions. I won’t give away any scheme out of respect for the Coaching Staff. And I won’t say anything negative about any player or coaches. It’s been a fun first half. Offensively-Tristan Polk is the Signal Caller. He’s a Junior. Very tall. Good arm. Threat to run. Pretty typical QB. Has made strides. Solid leader on the field. Wenkers Wright is the Tailback. A Junior. Decent size, deceptively strong, has a great stiff arm, good vision, and can explode through the hole for 6 at any point. Has been clocked in the low 4.4s many times. The backup RB is Calvin Brown. A Senior Captain. He’s a scat-back type, versatile, and has good short area quickness. Also plays WR, Slot, CB, and PR. An important player. Also at WR is Kaleb Quenichet. A Junior. He’s been the main target recently. He’s a tall, possession guy. Sure handed. Landon Deweese. A Senior. Is another good target. Just a solid football player. Floyd uses many TEs. Their O-line is made up of of 4 Jrs and 1 Sr. LT, Zen Mischalski is a Junior. Weighs in about 230 lbs. LG is Caleb Rodgers. A Junior. Weighs in at 290 lbs. The C is Isaac Hatfield. A Junior. Weighs in at 215 lbs. RG is Brenton Rodgers. A Senior. Weighs in at 270 lbs. And the RT is Trent Hyatt. A Junior. Weighs in at 290 lbs. A big, and steadily improving O-line. Defense. At LE is Seth Cook. A 215 lb Senior. At NT is Micheal Murphy, a 230 lb Senior. At DT is Daniel Cristiani. A 210 lb Senior. And at RE is Trace Richards, a 190 lb Junior. Richards a former RB, is one of the best athletes on the team and a tremendous pass rusher. Their d-line has been overall solid this season. They get after it. Well coached. At LOLB is Trent Allen, a Junior. At MLB is JD McKay, a Senior. And at ROLB is Caleb Slaughter, a JR. McKay is a Senior Co-Captain. And a sure tackler. Slaughter always seems to be all over the field making tackles. At LCB is Calvin Brown. A Senior Co-Captain. At RCB is Blake Zehnder. A Junior. FS is Trace Willman, a Senior. And SS is Landon Deweese. A Senior. The Secondary is a strength for Floyd. A lot of experience back there. Brown and Zehnder are good man cover guys. Willman is 6”3 Centerfielder that breaks up a lot of passes. Special Teams-The Kicker and Punter is Senior, Cole Hussung. The Michigan commit, has one of the strongest legs in the State. He’s still working on accuracy but his leg can impact a game. The PR is Calvin Brown. And the KR is Jaxon Farley. A Sophomore. Both guys are solid return men. Synopsis-For the most part, the team has met expectations. Well coached. And for the most part, still developing. A good Junior core, but definitely some Seniors playing roles too.

  40. Maybe this poll should be "Top 15 Teams Regardless of Class, and you have to be from Indy or Northern Indiana (Mid-Season)" I get it, polls are for discussion and to get insight from fans. But not to include any southern Indiana school in the Top 15. C-mon man!! Evansville Memorial Evansville Central Evansville Mater Dei Gibson Southern This poll includes primarily 5A & 6A schools. Zero 4A schools. And two of the Top 15 teams are currently ranked, according to Sagarin, 94th and 106th respectively!! Just sayin'

  44. I don't mean to diss DT (that much). I know he's probably means well, but he went a little too far this time as I am a proud alum and had some of the best memories in life happen in Kentland, Goodland, and Brook. Raub and Earl Park, too, but some things are best left unsaid... That being said, the population is small and life can be boring, but here's the kicker: sports bring people together. SN has had their fair share of great athletes and that will continue.

  45. He can’t take the ball and go home because it’s not his ball to begin with. I’m not saying the losing streak isn’t bad because it is. We only had one winning season during my years in the cornfields and sometimes we’d get blown out. Yet, no one was saying our doom was imminent. You know why? It wasn’t. Still isn’t. Diatribe is one applicable term. I have a few others...
