  1. I think the WW/Crawford County game was like 1 hr 45 min. Running clock 2nd half. I dont care to pay because that money is for the school. Hell I once walked in rain....paid for ticket and food...then went back to car to watch the game from the parking lot. What's $20 to help the school? I'll never understand why some want to line up on roads to watch but avoid paying.

  2. Southridge is 23% hispanic according to the DOE website. They have been to Semistate last year and won state the year before in football in 2A. Won a boys basketball sectional two years ago in 3A. Won a wrestling sectional last year. Went to state in baseball last year in 2A. Girls won a sectional in 2A softball last year. Not sure that having a hispanic student body makes any difference.

  4. I agree. At least buy a ticket. Im only speaking for Linton. As there is a neighborhood that has open view to the game. Guys and gals are cooking on site and that's just a win win for them. But Yes buy a ticket to enjoy that event.

  5. Haha. Well that I can see. But buy a ticket....grab a burger...and then head back. At least support the team that's providing you Friday night entertainment. Could be forced to drink with in laws!! ๐Ÿ˜ณ

  6. Congrats to the Falcons on their win! Looks like the fourth quarter was especially exciting for the fans. Those are the types of games people will talk about 20 years from now.

  9. As we continue to try to be more active on social media (primarily Twitter @gridirondigest), I'm reaching out to you, the community, for your best photographs from 2019 games. Details: - At least 2000px wide (horizontal), 1200px for vertical - High quality, typically from the sidelines, from a DSLR camera or mobile phone - Action shots showing both teams or closeups of coaches - Photos should not infringe copyright law (don't submit photos that aren't yours or you have submitted to news outlets with copyright restrictrictions) - TGD is a non-profit, community forum. We would love to be able pay for the photos. Instead, we can give you a @mention on Twitter to our 8,000+ followers or your TGD user name or real name - Quality over quantity... We only need 4-5 per week now. Maybe more in the future. Thanks to anyone who wants to help and share your talent and love of Friday Night Lights. ~ Chris

  10. I saw somoene earlier in the thread ripping on BD's record this year. The only other team to beat Carmel and Warren this year other than Trinity...Ben Davis. Congratulations to Cathedral on a spectacular victory. Really an excellent win over a storied program.

  11. Thanks for the information. I think the game should be pretty evenly matched. I am so impressed with the Senators โ€œnext guy upโ€ mentality. To lose that much talent at a small school and continue to dominate is very impressive.

  12. NP beat Mishawaka by one. Mishawaka lost to East Noble by 5. East Noble beat Plymouth by 3. Plymouth could beat New Prairie, but I highly doubt they will "pass all over them all night long." It should be a good game. Sure it's a Penn team that isn't up to Penn standards, but that's like saying "Oh, well Trine beat a a bad Notre Dame team.."....still shouldn't happen and when it does it's a nice win for the underdog school

  13. All this frivolous end zone camera nonsense banter. Everyone knows that games are won or lost on the quality of pre game meal, lard, bacon grease and other saturated phats. If those ingredients are not present in a ratio (minimum) of 8 ounces per player, that team has no chance of winning. If a few octogenarian honeys are present then that team is an automatic 2 score favorite.

  14. I know the games have to be played, and I take no opponent, lightly. But if Floyd Central isnโ€™t 9-2 with a Sectional Title after the next 4 games, Iโ€™ll be mildly disappointed. This is their shot. But Iโ€™m already proud of that team whether they do or not.

  16. I was under the assumption 5A was put on notice when Cathedral took Elder and St. X to the wire. IMO, besting Trinity like this further solidified the fact as opposed to creating it.

  17. Going to be a fun week in the MSC. A lot of competetive games. Silver Creek at Brownstown For the Conference Championship. Silver Creek D is for real, but can their Offense put up points? Will Creek QB Myers be back from broken ankle? Salem at Charlestown Should be a battle. Two very good Defenses. Can Charlestown muster enough of a passing game to keep Salem from going 9 in the box to slow down Lukes? Can Corbin and Salem put up points on a stingy Pirates D? Clarksville at Corydon Both very young teams trying to build for the future. Both need a momentum building win. Clarksville has a ton of skill position speed, Corydon......not so much. Can the Panthers bounce back from being shut out back to back weeks to put up enough points to win? Even Scottsburg at Eastern Pekin is interesting. Neither Coach Dean or Coach Mullins has been able to muster any sustained program momentum. Both seem headed in wrong direction. Is this a loser leave town (Coach gets Fired) type of match up?

  18. Canโ€™t agree more... I will never understand people that donโ€™t enjoy HS sports. Even with the recent rise in price of tickets in our area, it is STILL one of the best entertainment values anywhere.

  19. I believe Mcpheeters had 7 against Paoli couple years ago. Want to say the stat line was something crazy like 13 Carries for 296 and 7 TDs. Almost have to think Salem is favorite heading into that game? Should be good!! Salem has played good ball all year

  20. Hamstrings are sometimes tricky. They can heal up quick or become nagging and drag on for a while. Hopefully the shoulder thing is just a stinger or jammed and not separated. Never had a shoulder injury but did have a couple of hammy issues over the years. Used a topical thing the trainers had called "Atomic Balm" with a wrap. Worked great. Only took a few days and was able to get back to full practice and played the next game. That was back in the 70's. That topical I used is probably illegal these days. LOL They probably don't even make it any more.

  21. Both teams left scores on the field. Both teams were penalized beyond reasonable belief. The Warriors seemed to play more inspired football than the Miners. The Warriors passing game looked a lot better than advertised. The short stuff seemed to work pretty well for them. Then again, the Miners have had problems with that this year. Best of Luck to the Warriors for the remainder of the season.

  22. Noblesville is a 5 touchdown favorite against their sectional 3 counterparts. Mercy rule looming for whoever draws the Millers.

  24. 5A is on notice. That was a beat down of a monster program. Irish D was awesome. Shout out to my wrestlers: DGuhl on the Dline, Danny Brady w 2 picks, and Holden Parsons anchoring a decisive OLine w pass protection for days. Wow. Letโ€™s get a ring.

  25. Dude, Iโ€™m a proud son of Ohio, and my home is in Vermillion County. Those are the places Iโ€™m from. I love Amishville and the folks down there, but Iโ€™m not โ€œfromโ€ there. Accuracy matters ๐Ÿ˜‚

  26. What. A. Game. I continue to be impressed with Parke Heritage. They played their tails off tonight. It was everything North Vermillion could do to pull out a win. Just an awesome night of football.

  27. I whole heartedly agree.. 2 outstanding programs. Cathedral is back to that championship level, and New Pal has been there for a few years. Would be a treat to watch these 2 play.

  30. Both of Trinity's losses were on grass fields, at least that's what I was told tonight. The Arlington field held up well again. It looks like there will be more high school games there in the future.

  33. What about trade tape protocol. I don't know why some coaches employ the tactic where they have two filmers on the box. One a competent filmer with a HD camera using a tripod and the other a freshman with a handheld piece of junk, then send the latter as the trade film. I understand why endzone film is not traded.

  34. I help run the endzone camera a lot of the time at Linton. It's first come, first serve. We usually share the same endzone, just one on each side of the goal posts. No big deal.

  35. The whole "poor doctors will make less money" argument is odd from you, Muda, since you traditionally have argued for market-based approaches that, if they succeeded, would presumably have a similar affect on average income for doctors. (For the same market-based reasons that doctors made significantly lower incomes before employer-based group health insurance came along.) With regard to the smokers getting lung cancer thing: if have group health insurance through your employer, you are already subject to that exact sort of cost shifting arrangement now. While insurers can and will impose premium surcharges on smokers in the group pool, those surcharged do not offset the additional actuarially-determined cost of having those people in the pool, and they this spread that cost to everyone else in the pool. Even uninsured smokers who contract lung cancer cost you money under our current system, because they still get treated under hospital "charity" programs or state emergency medical cost plans, and those charges are eventually "shared" with you via higher taxes, and higher overall medical costs at the hospitals. The moralistic aspects of this are interesting to hear from you as well. While slippery slope arguments are often illogical, I can't imagine you have absolutely no vices or habits (eating or otherwise) that are not associated in some degree with some negative health consequences. Yet you foist the potential cost of your vice or habit on others in your group health coverage pool. Why should they have to carry part of the risk of your poor decision-making?

  37. Ahh, so under the current system medical professional make too much money (aka "substantial bucks") so a 40% pay cut is justified. After all it may help to put them back in line with those poor "starving lawyers". I see medical professionals leaving a socialist system like the one advocated by Sanders in droves, attempting to setup practices outside of the socialist system (if they legally can do this). The end result? A shortage of medical professionals working in the socialist system, resulting in longer and longer wait times for services. https://www.heritage.org/medicare/commentary/how-medicare-all-bills-would-worsen-the-doctor-shortage

  38. I guess the Canadian doctors enjoy being poor, relative to their U.S. counterparts. And the current crop of Canadian physicians have been "brought up" in the socialist system. They simply don't know any better. There is also the fact that the U.S. population is almost 10 times that of our Canadian neighbors. The population of California alone is now greater than that of the entire Canadian nation. How well does such a socialist system scale? Is Canada the Right Model for a Better U.S. Health Care System?: https://knowledge.wharton.upenn.edu/article/lessons-can-u-s-learn-canadian-health-care-system/ Does the individual, let's call him Citizen A, who smokes two packs of cigarettes a day for 40 years then contracts lung cancer have the right to the same amount of health care as the individual, Citizen B, who has never smoked cigarettes and also contracts lung cancer? Why should I, an American citizen who personally abhors the practice of cigarette smoking, have to be forced by the federal government to pay even a dime toward Citizen's A's medical care?

  40. Student body makeup is 12.5% hispanic according to the DOE website. I see the boys and girls basketball teams are not exactly lighting the world on fire either. Seems that the community has no interest in high school athletics and their seems to be a total lack of school spirit at Shelbyville.
