  1. After good nights sleep and time to reflect: 1) Bishop Chatard was better than advertised!! Big, strong and fast!! Definitely the best team at LOS!! Great season, much respect, DESERVING state champs!! Now go win at least a regional in 2020!!! 😁 2) HH Patriots have zero to hang there head about!! Amazing group of young men who played their tails off to the last whistle!! It was truly an honor watching them play and seeing them bring a community together like they did!! Outstanding job Patriots, great season!! 3) Patriot Nation!!! Wow, what an amazing fan base!! The amount of support you showed for this team, the coaches and the school was simply amazing!! It truly shows what a special community we live in and are fortunate enough to raise kids in!! Awesome! It may not have been the ending we’d hoped for in Lincoln City but the ride and accomplishments were simply amazing! Thanks Patriots!! Congrats Chatard!

  2. One final thought on this Patriot Senior class who went 24-2 their Junior and Senior season running the ball about 90% of the time, Every week they faced 7 or 8 in the box and yet Chatard was the first team to hold them to under 200 rushing yards this season. Biggest difference Chatard was not only strong up front but the overall team speed was off the chart and they were able take away our biggest weapon Cole Siglers speed... They beat us the way we have been beating teams all season by forcing turnovers, Winning special teams and a dominating run game. 1 loss to a better team takes nothing away from what this team accomplished and all of Patriot nation was is proud of what this team has accomplished. On to basketball season and the Patriots should have another State contender.

  3. Interesting. Somehow 10 trained observers up in the press box with the benefit of TV monitors and replay also missed it.

  4. The only thing you said on here that makes a lick of sense is that your opinion is only worth 2 cents. And I think you probably have some change coming, at that.

  5. Best moment of the night was seeing number 6 enter the game on the Patriots final drive, Tore MCL early in the 2nd round sectional game against Gibson and worked his but off in rehab to be able to dress for state. One carrie for 4 yards and was able to get off the 499 season rushing yard total he was stuck on since week 11.

  6. Opinions can be wrong and being on the field in the midst of team, I can tell you first hand your observations and opinions are wrong. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but just because you have it, doesn't make it valid

  7. Twitter is littered with all the schools who have chosen to honor Coach Bowsman and lend support to West Washington Community and Family. Moment of silence was held at the IFCA Board meeting this morning as well, remember Coach Bowsman and others who were taken too soon. 🙏

  8. Congrats Memorial. Your program has always been respected by Patriot Nation. Sad to see we won't match up anytime soon. It is what it is. Thank you for justifying me ranking the Tigers as No 1 in TGD most of the season.

  9. Cooper Jones is Top 10 in Indiana. We’re you only looking at the Senior class? He already has offers from Michigan and Ohio State. Between Jones, King, and Hook, that’s 3 D1 recruits at minimum on the field for a 5A title game. Could be another 2 to 3 when things shake out for the underclassmen. Especially, on Valpo’s lines. That seems impressive talent to me.

  13. Saying someone looks slow on an 80 yard touchdown run in the state finals is an opinion based on the selfish need to troll and bring attention to yourself. It is clearly working.....acting the fool is a phase most youngsters grow out of.

  14. We'll worry about next year, well, next week. It will be a bit of a rebuilding year for the Dragons, as CaptainHook pointed out, a lot of key players graduate. But they do return 3 starting OL (and 1 other who started a few games), Roth, Blake Austin (who had a TD yesterday and was the second-leading receiver to Hook) and 2/3 of the LB corps. Virtually everyone else graduates. Some talent in the pipeline - the JV was 7-1 this year and the froshies 6-2. And there are about 1,000 homes either under construction or approved in the New Pal district, so there's going to be some significant growth, which will likely bolster numbers at all grades. But for now, we'll revel in this one. 28 straight wins, back-to-back state titles in a class above NP's enrollment, done with several players playing both ways. It's really extraordinary what this program has been able to do. A mid-sized 4A public school playing for three 5A state titles in a five-year span - and winning two - is beyond description. We're going to revel in this and enjoy it. It's a historic run, led by an outstanding group of coaches and young men. This team has a high GPA, a high commitment level, they're involved in the community, they're great athletes. They're a group of guys who are going to be successful long beyond high school ... and that's a big reason why they've been successful in high school.

  15. NP is "gassed." 14-0 and just beat an outstanding team that was 13-0 to win the state title *without its starting QB* after beating Cathedral 35-10, after mercy-ruling the No. 8 team in 5A, but "gassed." I've watched almost every NP game for the last decade. They're not gassed. When you're wrong, and you're constantly proven to be wrong, you just need to stop talking instead of trying to talk in circles to prove to everyone how "right" you are. All we have to go by are on-the-field results. NP beat CG 28-9 AT Center Grove, and did so by dominating up front (where CG has a tremendous DL) in the second half. ... which came one year after NP won 31-9 over a different CG team, but one with Carson Steele. We're not discussing a hypothetical game that will never happen, we're discussing the game that was played.

  18. I get that this website is to debate, ponder what if’s, etc. However, New Pal has been the best team in the state ( no matter the class) for the last 2 years and idk how you can debate. Warren central was great with bell and I would have paid good money to see warren central play new pal last year but I still give new pal the edge. This year, I honestly think Valpo gave them their biggest challenge because of that amazing defensive line. New Pals defense is too disciplined and too good to get beat. They can stop the pass with hook, large, and luker and their rushing attack is just exhausting (coming from a coach that has scouted them for 3 of the last 4 years). If you think New Pal’s play style is not interesting or you don’t like them for some other reason, then fine. But you can not say that they are not the pound for pound best team until someone in 5A or a 6A opponent in regular season beats them. Valparaiso would have won 6A in my honest opinion.

  22. Valpo was the real deal. Looked like and played like a 6a power. Great game with great programs and a pleasure to be a part of. Back to back is such a great feeling. On a side note, pretty sure we could beat the Colts and people will still find a way to say someone else is a better team in Indiana.

  26. 2020 is also likely to a rebuilding/reload year as this year team had a lot of seniors in the spotlight roles. BTW, I think you aren't giving those government schools enough credit. Pioneer didn't need Success Factor to make three straight trips to LOS, win back-to-back 1A titles, and hand LCC a couple of its worst defeats in the last couple of decades. Sheridan didn't need Success Factor to take Hoosier Conference titles from 2A and 3A schools and three-peat right before LCC took their turn at LOS.

  28. I would agree that New Pal and Valpo were the 2 top teams in the state this year regardless of class and it was a pleasure to watch their battle lastly night. 2 outstanding programs!

  29. I noted in one of my post about Valpos passing game, and Opperman, looks good, always has a clean pocket, but as we saw last night, inaccurate. In terms of 7 on 7, they all do it, but when you are whipping teams the way they have the past couple of years, he never really needed to pass the ball. With those unneeded Hail Mary passes, there was just a lack of imagination on the routes and in featuring their best athlete, Osario. He had a lot of targets, but heck he should have got more as he was the one clear mismatch on the field last night. However, New Pals secondary had a lot to do with them struggling with passing as he had a crazy amount of time to pass and kids were not getting wide open. Couple of post have mentioned New Pals size and that is for sure what makes this more amazing as Valpo at least for this year was pushed down somehow, still haven’t figured it out, to 5A, after going to semi-state in 6A and being larger than two other schools that are playing up, success factor math. I also agree with everyone that the winner of this game, New Pal is by far the best team in the state. I have no doubt they have the toughness, physical strength, and enough athleticism to beat Carmel. The one difference I also saw last night that I’ve seen in. New Pal the last two years is how they just get those turnovers. Tremendous offensive line play, just a pleasure to watch.

  30. Nobody likes holding calls. But we dissected every one of them, along with every other foul called. All were there. The only glitch was a block in the back call by the line judge on an interception return. It was not a block in the back ... but it was an illegal blindside block. The mis-call benefited the intercepting team by 5 yds. An error, but in the grand scheme of things, of little consequence.

  31. I hope you’re not implying the officiating crew for this game was anything less than stellar. I was the IHSAA observer assigned to this game. Best officiated game I’ve seen all year. I was on the field the first half, and in the press box with 9 other observers for the second half. We all agreed the crew turned in a state championship level performance.

  32. Very proud of this group of seniors. 22 of them. Some of who’s role was strictly scout team. But they practiced hard, and waited their turn. The smallest school in 5A just beat the biggest with their QB2. Remarkable. Couldn’t be more proud of Eric Roudebush!

  33. That was a thorough kicking of the rear end. Hate to see it - I’m a Memorial Tiger, proud of the Patriots and anybody else down in our neck of the woods. But Chatard looked as good as everybody said they would be. Glad we didn’t have to play them this year. Congrats!

  34. Lots of Pats fans (and Memorial guy) on here crying about the late TD. Here’s what’s Bush league - your quote from earlier this week about the Danville game...”The BIGGEST reason the game wasn’t 41-10 or worse was because of the stripes!!” any Chatard fans on here saying it should have been 49-3 because of the refs? Nope. congrats Heritage Hills. Great season. Kids played hard and were well coached.

  35. What in the Red ring wearing, cow bell ringing, steak sandwich eating, officiating complaing, sister kissin garbage are you Talkin. Bro, the best thing out of that region is the freakin banana splits @ Ivanhoes, so don't let yourself get fooled in thinking that there's any place worth mentioning past the blue ring. Adamson is a great coach, no one disputs that, so stop that nonsenses now. There's not a person outside of Eastbrook that thought you were ever gonna win last year, if you cant see by the numbers Xstar showed ya, well you are just biase. Get to the mountain, then talk. I got the CHAMPS repeating 35-14. Coach Nowlin is a GID veteran son, if you insult him, you insult us all! That's just un American man. I dont know how you handle yourself up there in the "Land of the red rings", but down here in Boone County, we show a little more respect for a football legend. We are down here Makin Webo Football Great Again.....

  38. Any team would be fortunate to have the all-time leading rusher and scorer in state history. It takes a team to be a state champion - especially when you're a 4A enrollment school playing in a 5A tourney. He's a great kid and a great player. But he's also running behind five really good linemen. Hook was likely more in the gameplan, but when Roth went out, that took a lot of the passing game out of the playbook. Hook did a lot of damage on short crossing routes this year & then getting YAC, and you could see early he was a big part of the gameplan, but changing QBs meant changing the offense to fit Roudebush's strength. Roudebush did a *tremendous* job running the offense.

  39. "Stats are a little bloated" ... quite the opposite. Against the lower-half of the HHC, he played a half, maybe one possession into the second half. I'm really, really tired of people claiming all of this happens because of a "weak schedule" that happened to include a regional champ and a semistate champ in the regular season. The upper half of the HHC was a Yorktown team that was ranked part of the year in 3A, a *very* good Pendleton Heights team, a similarly good Delta team and Mt. Vernon, which won a regional. He had nine 200+ games this season - against Center Grove (6A finalist), Mt. Vernon (4A regional champ), Whiteland, Franklin, Cathedral & Bloomington South - the latter four coming in consecutive games in the 5A tourney, all four against teams that were ranked at some point in the year (also against Greenfield-Central, New Castle and Delta). To insinuate he piled his yards up against weak competition isn't really accurate.

  40. There's nothing that can be done to fix 6A. It will and likely always remain a class where the same 4 schools are going to win every year no matter what you do. I do think the thought of making class A the 32 team class and 5A a 64 team class makes a lot of sense. If there are teams in Indiana who desperately need a bye before the playoffs start its the class A schools, who normally have fewer numbers and many players playing iron man football.

  42. Great game from 2 outstanding teams. I honestly think Valpo panicked a little bit with their 1st 2 possessions after New Pal went up 17. Definitely no quit in that team. Absolutely crazy good on defense 100%

  43. About 3 million students go to Carmel, yet they can only field 11 at a time. Half as many attend Center Grove, but yet only 11 are permitted on the field at a time. The same does for Adams Central, Batesville, Delta, Elwood, Floyd Central, Gary West, Homestead, Indianapolis (too many too mention😉), Jasper, Kokomo, Lawrence Central, Monroe Central, North Knox, Oregon-Davis (if they had a football team) Penn, Reitz, Southport, Terre Haute North (and South), Union County, Valparaiso, Warren Central, and Zionsville.

  44. I have had questions after the news coverage and the previous announcement of Coach Bowsman's passing. I hope this clarifies. Thank you all for your outpouring of support. An Honor Walk is for people that have chosen to do a total organ transplant. In most cases the family is there and medical staff at the hospital step outside to honor the donor. The family can invite others and Beth chose to include our community and team. The hallway is lined and the donor is walked through the crowd to have their organs harvested. Coach Bowsman was deemed medically deceased on Monday 1:19 PM. His body was maintained and yesterday they harvested his organs. 2 of his organs are already been matched to individuals for life saving organ transplants and can potentially save up to 8.
