  1. Am I the only one that understands what NO PARTICULAR ORDER means?

  2. I used a point system (state 10, semi-state 7, regionals 5, sectionals 3) purely based on championships. The schools I considered were all among the leaders in either sectional, regional, semi-state, or state championships.......using JH's website. Top 25 1. Chatard 2. Carmel 3. Luers 4. Cathedral 5. 3. You forgot Official Indiana High School of the Wagonmaster! That alone probably puts them in the Top 25. 😀

  5. I think you need to take a look at Rensselaer Central High School as a member of this list. total wins, NFL player, state championship and who can debate their line of coaches that have went through their halls as a student/athlete or teacher/coach. OK coach Nowlin here is your chance to toot your schools horn!

  6. What about Mark Brown. He is an asst. at North Central(Indpls) with head coach experience Carroll(Flora). I think he has been calling the shots on the offensive side of the ball for coach O'Shea. And he is a darn good o-line coach.

  7. No. Frankfort is teaching them about hardwork, never giving up and working as a team. You realize football is sometimes a way for kids to get away from their problems? Do you realize sometimes their coaches are the only father figures some of the kids have? Sometimes kids have built up anger and they channel it into football. I lost my dad tail end of 7th grade, i was mad at the world, i was mad at God. I I used a lot of that built up anger on the field and damn some of it went away. You only look at football at winning and losing...while majority of us realize football and other sports are more then just a game. Its a way to help give kids an escape. It helps kids stay up on their grades, to stay out of trouble and it gives them guidance. It gives them a sense of family. I feel sorry for you. You always think you are the smartest dude on here but honestly you are a bafoon.

  10. Been thinking about this whole contraction/280 madness. I just don’t get it. As populations grow, more schools will be needed, and the kids will need something to do. Not just the 75 on the team, we’re talking about the support staff, cheerleaders, band, and most importantly fans. Come to the games and hang out with your friends or make new ones. Football is a great thing and to place so many restrictions on it is next-level stupid.

  12. Shelbyville did not contract. I agree. Football is extremely important to many communities whether they’re struggling or not. More ridiculous posts. Extremely hard to want to post on this forum any longer when two people who always feel they’re right are on here.

  13. Ah, DT again mixing up "contraction" (schools dropping programs) and "consolidation" (schools merging). I'm not sure why 280 is your magic number. I know you're often confused about the difference between high school and college football, but fewer schools does not mean more quality, because - outside of the largest communities, students aren't likely to jump schools. It just means fewer opportunities. If an isolated rural school drops football, that's 30 or 40 kids who simply won't get the opportunity to play football, not 10 talented kids that will go somewhere else. High school sports are about opportunities, and the fact that someone actually celebrates and gloats about reducing opportunities for participation in this great game on a high school website is absurd, but par for the course for certain people around here who traffic in absurd, off-base and usually uninformed hot takes. Those schools are consolidating due to finances and population changes in their communities. As Indiana suburbanizes, consolidation is a reality. But we may also see addition - like Fishers being carved out of HSE. Programs do not close for "poor results." They may close due to smaller numbers (and those are generally programs at tiny schools), but there are a lot of programs who went through 20+ game losing streaks that continue to run - and some are thriving.

  14. It's not perfect, only goes through 2016, and there are some gaps in some of the teams, but this will give you records for each team annually. http://ifca.zebras.net/ifca/candler/schools.htm

  16. Pre- tournament in the 60’s Evansville Reitz in ‘61 shut out every opponent. That only adds to a historic record for what is not a very large school. Carmel in the 60’s was the small (5-600 students) playing and beating the Indy township schools..... Lawrence, Warren and North Central. Bloomington had that long winning streak, 80 some games I believe, from the mid-60’s to 1973.

  19. Considering you created that list off the top of your head and glancing at past tournament success, the list looks pretty darn good. This is a fun topic, so thank you for the research you did in preparing this thread. I'm in the process of applying a scoring system to the 25 teams you mentioned and a few more. I hope to post my findings on a Top 25 in the next 24 hours.

  21. Primarily #1. Many p/p fanatics like to play the martyr and proclaim how much they have financially 'sacrificed' to send their child(ren) to p/p school, all the while also being forced by the state to pay for traditional government schools. That said, the caliber of a student at a p/p is generally higher. It's the old "I'm paying a lot of money for you to attend this school, so you better excel and also do X, Y, & Z!!!!!" While to many parents government schools are really nothing more that a "free" babysitting service.

  22. Senior year stats alone: Games Played -14 Carries - 330 Yards - 3,168 YPC - 9.6 YPG - 226.3 Rushing TD's - 55 Only 3 fumbles all year (lost 1) that is 1 turnover in 330 carries. he only has 5 total turnovers career in 1,331 carries! Amazing!

  24. Either way it's his... IS the record holder of Rushing Yards and TDs, I believe. It should be the most lopsided vote in history and that isn't to take anything away from the other guys as those guys should get some recognition too... But what Charlie has done and the records he broke... Those may stand for a while.

  25. If you hate the sport so much leave the forum dude. You legitimately want to deprive kids of the ability to play a game just because they don’t win often or even ever. According to what i counted on Maxpreps Shelbyville has 53 kids on the varsity roster this year. 53. That means 53 young men CHOSE to play football, for their love of the game, for their friendships, for their community, and heck, for fun. No administrators were out there forcing students in the hall way to go to football practice and forcing them to play in theses games. High school football is a choice, a choice that isn’t always easy because not even the best programs in the state (asides from maybe NP) win every single game every year, a choice that teaches these young men that no matter how hard you got beat down you get back up and fight again, and a choice that you want to deprive of at least 53 young men to possibly hundreds just because they don’t win as often as you deem necessary. “none of those boys had fun playing” if not a single kid on that team had fun playing then they wouldn’t have had 53 players on the team bub. This is possibly one of the dumbest and most ignorant statements i have ever seen on GID.

  27. I hope that wasn’t directed towards me as I have no dissent. I also vehemently am against the supposed contraction to 289 like @crimsonace1. I posted that Shelbyville completed their season (because it had been stated they shut it all down) with their schedule that had scores. I was asked a goofy question what weaknesses they found to score a TD in Orndleton heights the last two games. I sarcastically responded they ran the same okay week 1 (only other game they scored in) and found that it still worked. wasnt being mean towards Shelbyville just found it a shall I say goofy question so I came up with a just as goofy answer. BTW @Gipper what is the best seasoning for coaches? lol Cajun ?

  31. I didn’t realize Southport was willing to do Home AND Away. That’s a fairly big haul for a 6A Indy team to make to play a 3A team (no matter who they are). Kudos to GS. No one could have guessed when those college fraternity photos of Southport’s AD would come in handy....

  32. Shelbyville will field a program next year, and for many, many, many years thereafter. In our area, Connersville, Greenfield-Central and New Castle have had years where they struggled, and have not only soldiered on, but have had some pretty good seasons mixed in. Shelby is three years removed from having consistent winning records. These things run in cycles. Programs DO NOT shut down due to results. They MIGHT shut down due to low numbers. No AD or school board member in his right mind goes "hey, we went 0-10 last year, might as well pack it up. Let 'em play soccer." An AD will say "look, we only have 15 players out for football, and that's not good for the health of our kids," but even then, they might suspend the program for a year or two and try to rebuild it by playing a JV schedule and investing in lower grades. 320 should be the magic number, not 280.

  36. I've debated putting this on here for the last few days, but decided to do it because I think we too often hear about the negative, but rarely enough about the positive. The young man in the wheelchair is Sam (last name withheld for privacy, although he is probably more well-known in Evansville than our mayor). Sam has Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a rare genetic condition. His skin is fragile and blisters easily from even slight contact. He endures painful bandage changes daily and has endured countless medical procedures and spent many days and weeks in hospitals. He has literally fought EB every day of his entire life. He loves Memorial, Memorial sports and is an inspiration to our entire school family. And the Memorial family loves him. He rarely misses any Memorial football, basketball or baseball games. Saturday he watched the game from the sideline (and even attended the tailgate in the rain and wind for a little bit to help get the crowd fired up). While he may not look it, Sam is widely known as the toughest kid at Memorial. After the game (unbeknownst to anyone), Brock Combs, who was the clear star of the 4A game, received his medal and made his way over to Sam and hung it around his neck. A few minutes later the trophy was presented, this picture was taken. Very few people even knew it had happened until the following morning. This, my friends, is what HS football is all about! Thanks to ALL the coaches across our state who sacrifice so much to help young boys become men!

  37. DT would have to get out of his recliner, brush off all of the Cheeto's/Dorito's from his shirt, get in the passenger seat of his car so the wife can drive him to Boone County to check out the socio-economics of Western Boone county to be able to make his assessment of the affluence of the area..., and that ain't happening! 🤔

  40. WW returns just about everyone. Even return key players from injury. Week 1 we lost Bobby Stevens (2400 yd rusher his soph season). Week 4 saw Mike Leach lost for the season (300 pound 2 way lineman and obviously our strongest kid), and 1st sectional round we lost 2 way starter (C/LB or DT pending formation) Charles Madden go down. All 3 return for senior year to go with QB Holden Bowsman (37 TDs), TE/DE Jake strange and Lineman Bryce Brown, Jarren Roll and Landon Pearson (all 250+ and will be 3 year starters). Our biggest on the field loses (I'm gonna withhold all the coach stuff) are both WRs/CBs (Chase Farmer and Harrison Sanford) and 2 LBs in Hunter Pate and Mason Armstrong (split time at RB this year with current Freshman Roper McPheeters after the injury to stevens). Caleb Murphy also graduates this spring. He is a 3 star DE who is committed to IU (ranked 10th overall recruit in the state by 24/7). He missed all season this year also due to injury but his leadership was amazing all year. All in All we should be primed for another deep run if everyone is able to return healthy. If I had a question mark for this team it would be #2 WR and DBs when we get spread out. I expect Parker Green to get shot at #1 as he has talent. Just been behind the other 2 guys. Strange is an amazing TE and is already a problem at 6'5" with good speed. Already looking forward to it. Senior laden team next season.

  41. We will return 10 on offense and most of our defense. A good freshman group coming in should bolster our depth. We added a 3A week 1 opponent adding to an already tough schedule with the likes of Adams Central, South Adams, Eastern Hancock, and Shenandoah. I'm excited to continue to grow our program.
