  1. In the year 2003, freshly graduated from Purdue, December of that year, was coaching 7th grade basketball for the Bombers, Got thrown out of the game ....yup... that 7th grade class was with Terry Davison, went onto Western Michigan, big dude, especially for 7th grade. He was getting penalized for being big, which I am sure @gonzoron can attest the frustration there with is tall daughter coming through youth leagues. He would post up and we toss it to him, he would jump and get the ball. He got called for 3 offensive fouls in the game, by simply just posting and jumping. Mind boggling. Got my 1st tech, for arguing, or as I like to put it, Defending my player!!. Then as I was told to sit down, I kicked the wooden bleachers, got warned again. Then I was a good boy, until there was another foul called, it was the other team's 7th team foul, we should have been in the bonus, I am yelling from the bench, hey we are in the bonus, we should be shooting. The dad helping me out kept trying to get their attention, he was even trying to get the middle school girl who was running the scoreboard to hit the horn, she wasn't going to do anything like that and looked very confused as well. The referee goes to inbound the ball, I am still going nuts trying to get them to stop the game and get our FTs we were supposed to get. So I politely walked out onto the court and tap the referee who was hanging out at mid court on the shoulder and he turned and looked at me, I got " WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE SHOOTING FREE THROWS, WE ARE IN THE BONUS" Whistle toot toot, 2nd technical and sent a packing. We lost the game 14-11..... KV man..... KV ..... I had a terrible assistant coach who was some college kid from SJC who barely showed up, never got off the end of the bench and I had to share my check 51% to his 49%, yeah, I went to girls basketball right after that as I got a little wiser on the compensation portion of things Your standard for handsome couldn't be lower

  5. While on the subject on crowd size, Texas had a lower division championship game where both towns that were represented had a total population of around 9,000. Their championship game drew a crowd of 19,000. They really love this stuff in Texas.

  7. You need to leave Coal Mine Road.... occasionally! It’s not all bad out here. 3 things we always do in the Ville....Keep windows up, doors locked , and revolver ready. If you get assaulted I know a really good lawyer. Almost forgot...always travel in pairs.

  12. You do realize that @BARRYOSAMA's number is in millions of pounds while yours is in millions of metric tons? One million metric tons = 2,204,620,000 pounds .11 million metric tons = 242,508,200 pounds

  14. New PAC is 100% a plus....unless you’re boonville lol. But hey. Maybe even for them it’s a plus. the weaker schools are able to schedule to their liking more. The bigger schools get an upgrade for schedule (marginally). the real strength here is the 4 non conference games for teams where there is tons of flexibility. Some teams are opting to play up. Like GS. Some are pretty going more neutral...others are able to schedule small schools. Hopefully the typical bottom of the PAC are the biggest winners here. We would all love to see teams like pike central be competitive.

  17. Finally... https://ihsaa.org/Portals/0/ihsaa/documents/about ihsaa/minutes/2019-20/011620.pdf?ver=2020-01-20-155604-767 Proposal #5: the IHSBCA requests that each tournament host site (sectional through state finals) have a person designated to track the pitch count for both teams in each scheduled contest. This position will keep written or digital records and communicate with the coaches and umpires each inning to confirm pitch counts for both teams. This position will also mandate (through the umpire / crew chief) the removal of a pitcher once their pitch count limit has been exhausted. The head coach will certify the availability of each pitcher prior to the start of each tournament level; records will be kept throughout the tournament to track pitch counts; ensure proper rest is observed; and, at no time, allow an ineligible pitcher to enter the game or remain in the game. These records will be available to member school head coaches, athletic directors, principals, and IHSAA personnel upon request. A motion for approval was made by Jim Brown; seconded by Martin Brown; motion approved 15-4 with Chris Conley, Chad Gilbert, Victor Bush and Ed Gilliland opposed.

  19. 1994 Portage @ Hobart. Standing room only at the Brickie Bowl. Joe Christian went berserk. That Brickie mystique was never the same to me after that night. Beat defending runner up Lake Central twice that year. 1997 Portage hosted Hobart. Buzea VS. Howell as the coaching match-up. Bricking fans packed the visiting stands at the Warpath. During the course of the game Buzz walked across the field to the Hobart sideline to dispute a call with the officials. The Brickies fans totally erupted. 1998 Portage upset a top ranked Valpo team twice. 2002 Portage hosted Valpo in the sectional championship game. Portage got flagged because Buzz kept the team in the locker room 15 minutes after halftime was over. 2009 Michigan City traveled over to Valpo. City fans packed the Valpo stands. City pulled off a rare win thanks to the efforts of Adam Harmon running out of the wildcat. Mark Hoffman apparently told Buzz after the game that he will never beat him ever again, he was right, Buzea left for H-F the next season.

  20. It would be nice if the IHSAA would invest in some endzone cameras for their streaming of the state finals. Some of us prefer that view to the traditional sideline shot.

  26. I’m not saying the whole place is rotten lol just saying. Just firmly disagree that Evansville is this cute little city that is great for raising a family. Sure, many have probably done a fantastic job and have found a nice little neighborhood with little issue....but come on. Everyone in SW Indiana and the surrounding area knows what Evansville is really like

  30. https://reason.com/2020/01/22/capitalism-has-improved-access-to-entertainment/ Agreed. Keep government out of the market as much as possible, and let entrepreneurs innovate and create. All consumers will benefit, that has been proven.

  31. Fox - You are such a nerd........OK, SF is not a mathematics phenom by any stretch.....apologies to the BO for improperly dissing him/her/it........ However - estimated 88 to 242 million pounds/year of plastic marine debris. "estimated" 88 to 242 is quite large for a window..... But - you do realize that the US is dead last with regards to plastic pollution on all of those fancy charts I found........Still gonna use plastic straws......
