  3. Contrary to popular belief, there AREN'T any innerworkings of the GID. All of us have other jobs and lives and don't really put an extreme amount of focus on it. (Except maybe our Moderators, Coach Nowlin and Irishman.)

  5. Not really Muda. I'm pretty sure I knew Tim much better than you. The vision of TGD was, and IS to promote High School Football in Indiana. The reason Tim put up with OOB was to drive traffic the the Football Forum. He and I had multiple conversations, in person, about that.

  9. The younger Tuma is making his presence known on defense as well. This is really a pretty young team overall. Lots of So and Jr starters. Ehman has always been a good back and now that they’ve gone to a balanced attack, it takes some of the pressure off Griffey when they do throw. Schakel was everywhere on defense last week, and Mayo is making a huge impact on defense as well. Plus, I haven’t seen team morale this high in 5 years. Kudos to Coach Kirschner for that. I would add that they also have a great Manager.😉

  10. Decent parity but don’t understand the need for a conference that doesn’t allow every team to play one another and effectively crowning a conference champion? That and you eliminate any possibility of scheduling out of conference, thus effectively ending long time rivalries; Chatard-Cathedral, Columbus North-East, etc. It’s a no for me.

  11. my own opinion... of course... but I can't seem to go anywhere or do anything without politics being involved... I just come here for High School Football. I never ventured anywhere near OOB.

  13. When someone mentions the EIAC, what is the first thing they think of. East Central So the real question should be. When foes EC stay in the EIAC? They do not play 3A Rushville and after this year Greensburg will be off the schedule. They stoped playing Lawrenceburg for a few years but did add them back. Why? Now for Lawrenceburg EC is a good game for them but in all reality EC only benifits from this game once in a while. Since coach HEP retired from Batesville the every 4 year win by Batesville is gone. Franklin County may give o quarter once in a while. But like all other EIAC members, EC's numbers are just to many. Then comes the other 4A members. South Dearborn which will fall to 3A after this year only gives a game every so many years. Then comes the other 4A team that has never given any competition since joining the EIAC nor any competition to EC in scrimmage games just before joining. Connersville is at least giving there fellow Conference members competition thus far this year and have stopped the long losing streak. Richmond joining the EIAC does nothing for EC or Lawrenceburg. It only keeps the bottom ...Company.

  20. No, believe he is still a go. Heard a different kid. Hopefully, they were wrong in thinking it might be a season ender. Having #54 still gives them a chance to run the ball maybe.

  24. I would agree . I remember back in 2015 , CG fans were saying that team was the best CG team ever . This years team (up to this point) appears better . The only downside is that 6A as a whole is down this year compared to Normal . So I do expect Cathedral to be the only team that gives CG a test this year .

  25. It's a weird one that rarely happens (I've only seen it 2 or 3 times in all my years of officiating). Officials will sometimes get confused because it's legal on a punt if there is no R player in position to make the catch. If I had to bet it's probably called correctly 50% of the time it happens so you experience is not surprising. It's always an interesting sequence of emotions when it is called correctly. The coach from elated when his team executes to disappointed when he finds out it's not allowed to angry when he learns not only does the other team get the ball, but they get 15 yards tacked on for a penalty as well.

  27. I'm sure you all have been anxiously waiting for Slick John's return with a similar anticipation of a COVID vaccine being developed....well...the good news is, Slick John seems to be more reliable than our government and I'm also going to give you a much more honest opinion about things than any of them will. So let's rip these mid-season evaluations like Ric Fliar ripping some of the Devil's Dandruff off the back-side of a Charlotte stripper back the the late 80's!!! 1. Warsaw- 3-0: Their wins over Mishawaka and Northridge are debatably the best pair of wins of the season so far in the NLC. A couple easy tune-ups to get ready for the last two weeks vs. NorthWood and Concord that will play a major role in this year's champion. Slick John believes that the difference in the season will be if/when Warsaw's offense has an off night, will their defense be able to stop anybody? 2. NorthWood- 2-0: A missed game against Goshen keeps them from a 3-0 record. They survived Concord without their QB which could be a very underrated victory come the end of the season. So far, NorthWood's defense has been the class of the conference. It will be interesting to see their performances vs. Mishawaka and Warsaw. 3. Concord- 2-1: One tough loss and two easy wins for the Minutemen. The Mishawaka game is going to be a telling result. Their defense so far has shut out a poor Goshen team, gave up 7 to Wawasee and another 14 to NorthWood's backup QB. Their defensive point total could be the most overrated statistic in the conference up to this point. We will find out tomorrow. 4. Northridge- 2-1: Just like I stated above about Concord, Northridge's defense showed some vulerability against Warsaw after easily handling Wawasee and Plymouth. Still so much to find out about the Raiders 5. Mishawaka- 1-1: After a 1-3 overall start, Mishawaka, all of a sudden has an opportunity to get themselves back in the NLC title chase with a win over Concord Friday. Their offense has been beyond impressive point scoring wise, but their defense leaves quite a lot to be desired. Should be fun Friday vs. Concord. 6. Goshen- 0-1: Goshen has beaten Clay and lost to Concord in a season as plagued by COVID as it has been by poor football. I can't imagine a trip down SR 15 is going to be kind to the boys from Goshen. I've heard Rick Mirer owns a vineyard. Does he give Goshen patrons discounts on his wine? They may need it. 7. Wawasee- 0-3: It can be argued that Wawasee has had the toughest conference schedule so far. Which also can't be too comforting with Warsaw and Mishawaka still left. There is a chance for two wins out of the last four, though. This week brings us to the pillow fight of the week at (gasp!) Plymouth! I have to be honest- I don't know the route from Wawasee to Plymouth, nor do I care to. I would suggest anybody from Wawasee not look it up, either and head to the closest liquor license carrying establishment to Syracuse. 8. Plymouth- 0-3: Just like I'm still trying to figure out why Plymouth didn't set their scoreboard cocked to the endline in their renovated stadium (see for yourself), John Barron is trying to figure out just what in the world is occurring in Rockie Land. They showed some late life against Mishawaka last week--could that be the momentum it takes to take down a typical Wawasee team?

  28. HH has not fielded their entire team in one single game this season due to Covid/ injury. It is a shame for that group of kids. SS has had the same issue as well. It must be terribly frustrating for teams, and coaches that have had to deal with this CRAP this year. Sending kids home because they were in a class, wearing a mask, sitting socially distanced from a random student who is sick is the definition of insanity IMO. It also puts those having to play on Friday nights at risk. No varsity team should have to play sophomores against seniors because of quarantine rules.

  30. As you folks know, there are many great stories from the days of the Bears training camp in Rensselaer IN To think that the likes of Sayers, Butkus et. al were part of our community every year for a few weeks is mind blowing to me. Just wish some of them would of settled down on their roots here post playing days!!

  32. Tuma is a really nice athlete for Heights. I saw where he missed some games so having him back is probably a nice boost for their team. Also noticed Griffey is the lone QB. Is Wilson not playing this year? I wasn’t a fan of the 2 QB system they had last year and thought Wilson would possibly move to a different position this year.

  33. Concur, Stars rolled, Spencer Wright and company was a very tough out. The model of consistency in the Eastbrook led by Coach Adamson is quite remarkable. Great Respect to him and his staff and program. If I am not mistaken, very seasoned now JR class for Panthers?

  34. My wife and I were having a similar conversation this week. Our youngest son is playing tackle football for the first time this fall. I can see that he and a few of his friends easily frustrate a coach. If your main goal is to win the 3/4th grade league, it would be easy to run them all practice and never play them. Luckily his coach understands his role is to teach basic fundamentals, help them improve, and keep their enjoyment of the game. Obviously the goal of the league is safety and skill development (are you ever going to get perfection from 3/4th graders?) A varsity coach can teach you what they call inside zone and outside zone, but a bad elementary school coach can run a player off before he ever gets the chance.

  37. First let me thank you for the years of voluntary work you put in. But there is a huge benefit to having the youth program running the high school's formations, schemes, and plays.

  38. Yep...if it has not hit the ground or a player on the receiving team, they cannot recover it. I am curious if a player on the kicking team can bat/tip/touch it? I am assuming no since the penalty is kick catch interference?

  43. considering 95% of the "drama" and "reports" stems from that section of the website that truly serves no purpose, @DK_Barons pulled the plug on it which I fully support. It truly has turned into a personal political playground for about 7-10 users and continue to go around and around and then it goes too far and lots of energy is used to to moderate that section that serves no purpose to our sport of Football. Coach Tim Adams original foresight into that section was a place where you could put on blast your favorite sports teams and players and to a lesser extent a place where folks could banter with @dawgieinthepound back in the day. Those days are long gone and now its just pure stupidity from my seat. Do not have to agree with my sentiment about it, but I personally have had enough of that section going on 4 + years, which is sad because it could of be utilized as a nice section to promote new ideas, pop culture, show/book/etc recommendations, express different Hobbies and such. Instead its a non stop FACEBOOK lite where everyone gets all twisted up and non stop political garbage spews... rinse repeat. That is my answer. I did not tell DK to hit the eject button, but I made my stance clear on what I thought about the section, however, I am just 1 lone voice. The fact that I have spent any energy on this even right now is tiresome to me, but I did feel the need to at least give @Muda69 my thoughts on it. Bottom line: Our website sole purpose was created for the promotion of Indiana High School Football, its players, coaches, communities that participate in it.

  45. The left guard is questionable. I’d like to see what it looks like from the viewpoint of a wing official standing on the line of scrimmage. The left tackle is clearly bad. This is a foul simultaneous with the snap for an illegal formation, a 5 yd. live ball penalty, if accepted. The conventional response to this is for the wing official to tell the referee to move those players up. The referee goes into the offensive huddle and tells them to move up. If they don’t, next step is tell the offending coach: “Coach, we’ve told your guard and tackle to get up on the line. Next time, it’s a foul.” That usually takes care of it. If not, there’s always the flag.

  46. Yes, the rules provide for something called a coach-official conference. The coach can request a conference. It must concern misapplication of a rule, not a judgment call. If, after the conference, the ruling is changed, no timeout is charged. If there’s no change, a timeout is charged. If the team has no timeouts remaining, it’s a delay of game penalty.
