I get the humor but let me tell you something, coaching at that place was a very lonely 2 years. I was indeed by myself.2 points

I love this matchup, but I'm surprised there are many that believe Chatard will be in this game. I always like the Trojan's chances, but I saw Merrillville play Andrean, and they have some DUDES. There will be 10 or more players on Merrillville's team that are bigger, faster, stronger, and more athletic than anyone on Chatard's team. However, I have to believe this is a win-win for both teams. For Merrillville, as others have already pointed out, they can use this as a trial run for a potential visit to Indy in November. It should also be a good measuring stick for where they stack up currently: if they win decisively (2+ scores), then I think it reaffirms that they have a legitimate chance to make it to Lucas Oil. If it's close or they somehow lose this game, then they know they have a lot more work to do. For Chatard, as long as they can stay healthy and don't lose more starters, then this is a great experience to play top competition. There are some great teams in 3A this year, but none of them are fielding anything close to the athletic ability and speed that Merrillville will be rolling off the bus Friday night. My heart tells me Chatard wins a nail biter in the 4th quarter. My head tells me that Merrillville's D1 studs are too much to handle, and this game ends up looking very similar to what we saw against Cathedral earlier this year. Either way, this is one silver lining of covid. We get an opportunity to see some unique matchups that we'd likely never see otherwise.2 points

Last night, after a hard fought game, Jasper lost its first SIAC game since 1978. That is 42 years between loses in the SIAC. For perspective, the median age in the US is 38 so over half the people in this country weren’t alive the last time Jasper lost a SIAC game. That is a phenomenal accomplishment and a testament to the hard work and dedication players, coaches, and parents have made over that time. Congrats on the accomplishment and to the next 42 years.2 points

Wing T Coaches: "You know our OL are properly lined up when the opposing coach is losing his mind about an illegal formation." I hate that mindset. My two biggest pet peeves watching a game. When the offense tries to blur the line of scrimmage with lineman too far back and receivers either not clearly on/off the LOS. The offense can do anything they want post-snap, just make them get set and in a legal formation pre-snap.1 point

Just to add some fun to this, if the ball is recovered behind the neutral zone after being touched by R beyond the neutral zone, K still has all their original options. They can run, pass, or kick the ball. If they run or pass it will still be their ball on the next down because of the touching by R beyond the neutral zone (assuming no other change of possession happens). For example, if the person who recovers throws a pass that is incomplete, it will be 1st and 10 for K at the previous spot! This is assuming the extremely unlikely scenario where K doesn't have ineligible linemen downfield and the pass is thrown beyond the neutral zone. If that happens R would accept the penalty enforced 5 yards from the previous spot and replay 4th down. This is often discussed and debated among officials and a good rules quiz question but extremely unlikely to occur.1 point

No, not in the slightest. But after beating teams by so many for many years, it’s their time to be on the other end unfortunately. It won’t let me sleep any better if they get beat by 7 or 70 but they shouldn’t be able to dodge the top teams. Teams didn’t mind to give John Batty and those kids the whippins that Herb set up for him after beatings teams by more than enough. He didn’t have Covid to be his scapegoat though. Before one of you say “the wolves passed up on a good opponent”, I went directly to the horses mouth and asked point blank why the wolves didn’t play week 1 and theres 2 sides to every story, so save that argument. on a side note, the mercy running clock rule seems to really help these situations and keeps kids healthy. I said I wasn’t going to post after I had no Connections to any teams And leave it to my friends that still do, but here I am lol1 point

Knox was undisciplined and discombobulated defensively! 90% of Knox snaps, the QB had to leave his feet to catch. They have a lot of problems right now that need fixed.1 point

My Dad is a coach and he said the Offense was clicking and looked good. Was surprised how bad they beat Knox1 point

I would guess that Merrillville has 20 future college players at least.. ....but probably not 20 D-1 players.....Ball State might not have 20 D-1 players1 point

😢☹️😫😩😭 I don’t know why they even have officials on the field anymore. You can see so much better on the live stream or TV broadcast.1 point

Nice to see the young Miners getting honorable mention. Linton's record is actually 4 and 2.1 point

That game would be epic. Crawfordsville could be a good neutral site venue at either CHS or Wabash College.1 point

I'm not informed well enough about either team to make a prediction, but I do know as even Cathedral fans will tell you this year, don't play Chatard thinking you're not in for a war. Even if they don't have the athletes, they will play to/through every whistle and hit the player lined up across from them play, after play, after play. I'm not saying Merrillville hasn't seen that or that they will panic, but Chatard will do everything possible to make this as physical game as possible in every respect.1 point

In 2018, Warren Central trailed Louisville Trinity by 21 points and made the most amazing comeback to win 42-41 over the Shamrocks. The Warriors went on to win their 9th state championship that November 27-7 against the Carmel Greyhounds.1 point

You were spot on my friend: 9 for 85, have not been that sloppy all year, all legit it seemed when I reviewed it on the IPAD. Back to Back 15 yarders helped their last score for sure. We had 30 1st downs and 429 yards of offense and held NK to 9 1st downs and 209 of total offense, but didn't capitalized in key moments, especially 1st half. NK runs simiular offense as us, with a few wrinkles so it was fun to see it and go against it. Appreciate all of the NK folks, coaches and players, to make this happen.1 point

No but since you brought up comebacks I'm obliged as a CG fan to mention the 2008 5A state championship game where CG trailed Carmel by 19 with 6:15 left in the game and came back to win.1 point

This is the second 40+ year streak broken by the Wildcats in 2020. The previous streak, one slightly more dubious, where the Wildcats had not won an SIAC game in over 40 years, went by the wayside earlier in the season with the opening game victory over Memorial1 point

Did your dad tell you Knox played with 1st and 2nd string qb out and 1st n 2nd string safety out? Kinda of hard to control ball when you can only run 3 plays on offensive.0 points
