  1. Football and wrestling coach here - I will tend to agree with the above statement just in the fact that with Club Wrestling and RTC's now-a-days - the time commitment it takes to be an elite level wrestler is just astonishing and something I don't think many people realize. I'm talking State Championship material here, not just State Qualifier (which is still awfully tough) Now, bigger guys (195 +) can get by on sheer strength/athleticism - but in your "prime" weight classes, it almost takes a year round commitment. Life was definitely simpler not so long ago....and I'm not so sure we've made it that much better. Certainly have made it more expensive, that's for sure.

  2. SEI Sports does a great job broadcasting/promoting SE Indiana sports. It’s not just the late round Football tournament games, it’s about every weekday and all sports.

  3. Interesting that we are talking about symmetry of classes. I’m thinking they don’t care much. IHSAA just released the boys sectional draw. Some have 5 teams, most have 6 or 7, and a few even have 8. Tell me how that is symmetry for that tournament?

  4. Also while Carmel is still growing at the high school it has begun to shrink at the elementary levels. The community is built up, very few places for a new home to be built. As this group of parents graduate their kids the high school will begin to shrink too, you wont get enough in the move in/move out exchange to keep up with the size. You already see Carmel closing elementary schools. Carmel isn't going to drop to 2000 kids or anything, but it's very likely they fall well into the 4,000's in the next decade. A question I have is how long until Westfield, and Noblesville start to close in on Carmel in size. Both of those schools are 1 horse towns, and building homes like there's no tomorrow...Westfield especially.

  5. Quick google search shows multiple public high schools in NY (more than one in Brooklyn) with ~7000 students (one is over 8000). No idea what the format of these schools are (9-12? multiple campuses?)....just what the interwebs told me🤪

  6. This is huge for Jay County. Coach Zgunda should be able to turn them into a solid program. A school the size of Jay County should be much more competitive in football in the ACAC against schools around half its size. I'm assuming the primary hurdle will be to get kids to come out and to get the community to buy in to what it takes to build a winning program.

  8. Unless your name is Lyndon B. Johnson. Probably the most racist president ever............until he signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Then he was deemed a hero. Allegedly, after signing the new law, he turned to the two governors in the room and said to them..........."we'll have those n-----s voting democrat for the next 200 years." It's all about the vote. Always has been, always will be. Last week, while at that gym, I was watching FOX and CNN side by side. While FOX was celebrating the start-up of high school sports on Long Island, CNN was promoting racism by marketing white on black crime. This morning, while FOX was focusing on the return of kids to the classrooms, CNN was promoting white on Asian hate crime. The more divided we become as a country, the more the Dem's have minorities wrapped around their finger.

  9. Biden's Coronavirus Relief Package Has Almost Nothing to Do With the Coronavirus: https://reason.com/2021/02/18/bidens-coronavirus-relief-package-has-almost-nothing-to-do-with-the-coronavirus/ It's just Biden trying to put lipstick on a pig, where coronavirus is the lipstick.

  10. It is really an odd decision because it works against the success factor. If you stick them in separate sectionals, Chatard probably never drops to 3A. (See the Dwenger situation.) Same could be said for putting Cathedral and Roncalli in separate sectionals in 5A.

  11. CIC changes every year. You still play all conference teams, just alternate venues and it’s never the same schedule from year to year.

  12. Yeah ....the SEI guys do a nice job. I still am amazed at how they managed that 5 plus hour Lawrenceburg/Brownstown Central game during playoffs this past Fall on a Friday night/Saturday morning.

  13. One of the highlights for me during the regional round has been the guys at SEI Local Sports. Usually a 4A team has to face East Central or a 3A team will face Lawrenceburg who both have games on there. Ev Central vs East Central (2x), Ev Memorial/ Heritage Hills/ Southridge vs Lawrenceburg. I've had a chance to watch all 5 of those broadcasts over the last few years. Great production staff and crew, IMO.

  14. Chuck Freeby and company of WHME TV-46 out of South Bend are easily the best I’ve seen in watching more than a fair number of broadcasts around the state over the years.
