  4. I agree with you here though. All of sports has changed with the way kids nowadays train. Outside of season specialized training is huge now compared to 20 years ago. These 15/16yr old QB’s that are starting are probably better, more polished, and more physically mature than the upperclassmen back then.

  8. None of that matters if the kids are buying into the coach and his program. The best kids should be playing regardless of grade and the best programs do it in a heartbeat. If the other kids don’t agree with that then it’s on them. It’s always a tough pill to swallow to be told someone took your spot though. There’s a lot more to coaching than X’s and O’s and the best coaches are even better at the relationships part of their jobs than the “easy” stuff. That Hobart kid seems pretty dang good.

  9. Well without the 2 linemen that transferred in maybe the radio call is Allen sacked in the backfield for a 5 yard loss.

  10. Southport only had 32 on their varsity roster when they played their opener against Roncalli. Demographic changes and open enrollment are killing Southport football. The school has a huge number of Burmese students who do not play football. SHS also lost a large number of players to Perry Meridian and Franklin Central when the coach resigned. It must be really bad if your coach leaves his 6A alma mater for Beech Grove! CN had pretty weak JV and freshman squads, they were both were beaten badly by Roncalli.

  11. In Terms of Bosse, I’m excited to see how Bosse does over the next few years. I think Coach Mullen is building something special in the land of the Bulldogs, great hire by the administration

  12. Yes..limiting sparty to 14 is encouraging..their flaws are being ironed out

  14. Not either way. There are no Bosse football players involved. I work in the building, and don't think it should be something that is even posted once I not based on facts.

  15. Both of your RBs walked the halls of Bosse as Sophomores. They might not be "new" transfers, but they are transfers none the less.

  17. Historically I've always noticed that SW Indiana teams tend to be undervalued during the regular season on Sagarin and move up as a whole during the playoffs. This year the opposite appears to be true.

  18. Sagarin seems to be out of whack at this point in the year (ignoring the SIAC being a closed confernece). Does anyone actually believe HH has played a tougher schedule then GS? I'll take GS to cover (5 points).

  19. Toyota isn't in South Gibson's School Corporation either. 3-1/2. One started in TYFL and went to middle school in South Gibson. Stayed living in the district but went to another school for 2 years. GS has also lost 2 to transfer. One to North and the other to Tecumseh. The one to North was the top offensive player and TD scorer for the Junior class at every level growing up. The one to Tecumseh was the Senior class' top defensive lineman in TYFL and middle school. Curious - How many transfers do Memorial, Central, and Castle have this year and each year?

  20. Geez, half the season gone and not ONE holding penalty OR unsportsmanlike conduct against the player you called out on a public forum? What exactly are we paying these officials for? Especially the SW game, in Kentucky, with a SEVEN man crew... we need to revoke these officials' licenses immediately. Grab the scissors, you get their patches. I'll get their whistles. Well, I guess they can keep those since they apparently don't work anyway. All of them are transfers. Every single one. Mostly from Reo and the surrounding area. </s>

  21. Records never tell the whole story. I’ve been watching this game long enough to understand that.

  22. If he stepped out on his own, he technically commits illegal participation. That's 15 yards. Play has to be accepted to negate the touchdown, therefore the offense gets to run another play since we can not end on an accepted penalty. If they decline and the game is within 8 points before said touchdown, they have an opportunity to run the PAT. If it has no change on the outcome, such as a team taking the lead as time expires or trails by more than two after the touchdown, the PAT is not attempted.

  24. From BobRef: If the intermission ends, and a team is not on the field, that is an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty charged to the head coach. 15 yds. If the team is out there, but can’t take the field because of, for example, the band show lasting too long, that is. 5 yd. delay of game penalty.

  25. Or this just may be what you can expect from this MD team. Last year in the SIAC they lost to the teams that at the end of the year showed by their records that they were just better teams . Their winning streak at the end was really due to scheduling since it was against the bottom of the conference. This year will probably be the same. The real question will be where they run into a strong team inn the playoffs. Luers is probably going to win the SAC and stood toe to toe with a team (Webo) that beat MD by 5 TDs at semi state. LCC seems a little down, but Linton is winning a lot games.

  26. Memorial will be in 4A.

  27. Gibson Southern would need to 6 classification points this year and next to move up to 4A. To get 6 points they would need to win semistate this year and next year or win state and regional this year and next year.

  29. You may be taking my "easier" out of context. No game is easy, but when you compare playing Dwenger and Luers vs Northrop or Wayne, I think you would agree that first two are more likely to be a lose or less likely to be a W for Snider than the last two??

  32. The game is on IHSAATV - the Mooresville student TV broadcast. Brimmage was not in the first series, but according to the student broadcasters, "they were just trying to get other players a chance to play." 😃 He did come in the second series.

  33. I will always appreciate a good professional wrestling remark. However, Leo makes it to the northern semi-state game in 4a with out breaking a sweat. It doesn't matter how bad you are as long as your competition is worse.

  34. Good grief there are already multiple threads on this form regarding the rationale about Cathedral playing homes games at Arlington this year and for the foreseeable future. I am sure as the game date gets closer this thread will blow up even more. But for the record, there is a massive parking area/lot in a strip mall that is a 5-7 minute walk to stadium. The grass field is so good it looks like turf. And the venue can hold probably around 7,000 fully packed not including SRO along the fence line, and if needed they can bring in temp. bleachers for the east end-zone. Checking in to the game does SUCK, there is only one stadium entrance and there was still a long line at the end of the first quarter of the Chatard game two weeks ago. Just get there early. I would also imagine game time might be moved back to 730PM for that reason.

  35. Unfortunately….not that big of a rivalry historically. Roncalli’s historic rivalries have been with Cathedral (up until about 10 yrs ago when the series was discontinued) and Chatard.

  36. Sectional 41 will be a three-team race: North Judson, South Newton, and Winamac. Although I’d give the edge to NJ, there’s a reason to beat your chest in Kentland, Goodland, and Brook!
